Takeaways of Pats game

Has Rodgers been great? No, but Im surprised by the amount of negativity towards him given how bad the OL has been and his top WR almost literally not being able to catch right now.

How good would he have looked in his prime if Jordy Nelson or Davonte Adams were dropping 3-4 balls a game?

He's not terrible but this year is a probably a wash and we have no plan for next year. Maybe spend this season figuring that out.

Not true. Fautanu was at his natural position last year same with McCormick. This put them back at their natural position. I am not worried about them they will get it together. The other two need to go for Dunker and Max.

As the Browns have shown putting a young QB in behind bad players will just ruin them.
 
IMO - our offense is lacking some emotion and sense of urgency. It's like everyone is going through the motions expecting the old wizard to use his magic again and again. The right side of the line was as durable as wet toilet paper. The RBs had little room to run and that's on the OL. I don't know that I'd have moved Fautanu and McCormick to the left, but here we are. Iheanachor and Dunker need to start next week.

I'd rip the band-aid off and put Howard or Allar in for Rodgers. Not that Aaron is being bad, and he's certainly not being confused by anything the Defense shows, but the man is going to be crippled if he keeps playing.

I'd also send Mason to Chicago or Washington for a contingent 7th round pick.

The defense didnt play badly yesterday, but you can tell they're missing Peezy Jr. Either break the "tradition" of not signing players during the season or be prepared to move him in the off-season. His back problem will fix itself as soon as his signature is on that contract.

Oh, and DK.... invest in a juggs machine. Work with it 8 hours per day. You're a goddamned professional wide receiver and the 1st part of your job description is to catch the ball.
 
OL,OL,OL! It all starts up front and these guys simply are not getting the job done. They’ve been terrible. Fantanu, not making excuses but that guy is hurt. He’s was hobbling around on a bad ankle and was in a boot after the game.
Next, they do not have a number one receiver. Sorry, but they just don’t! Metcalf is not a number one. Poor route runner and not reliable hands. Bad combo and horrible contract.
Aaron, although moving better than I thought he would is close to 43 and just is not nearly as mobile and with this OL the QB must be extremely mobile. Jaxon Dart mobile.
Running backs getting slammed before they get to the line on most plays.
McCarthy got badly outcoached by Vrabel and his coordinators.
I don’t know if this can be fixed this season. Somehow have to do what you can to patch up this OL. Maybe insert the rookie Dunker at RG, Max I. at RT. Get Anderson and Cook the hell out of there.
Defense got burned on several plays but all and all played well enough to deliver a win if the offense would have not stunk out the place.
This could be the season they actually need by losing 10 or more games and make them realize it’s time to rebuild. Sorry if that hurts but that’s how the league works.

I agree they have to put the young guys in on the right side of the line, but I think it is real hard to judge the line when there are zero threats in the skill positions. Hell, defenses can load 8 in the box, blitz with impunity and have no fear of getting burned. The QB can't move anymore, so they always know where he'll be. Just go with the youngsters on the line and frankly, if Rodgers doesn't last, so what?
 
This season is not going to get much better. Many teams on the schedule look pretty good and this could get real ugly fast.
Cincy looks good and that could be a couple loses. Jags look good and another loss. Broncos will be tough to beat. Texans are surprisingly struggling but I think that corrects itself. Eagles never lose to us in Philly. Ravens surprisingly struggled against Saints but they still have a damn good team.
Speaking of the Saints, they should be 2-0 and should have beaten the Lions last week.That might be a tough game in NO.
This could be that season so get prepared.
 
Burrow is looking at our defense as if it was a Thanksgiving turkey. Reports from Cincinnati are that he already has his carving knives sharpend.

We need a qb that is a threat to put up 24 points or more on the board regularly. We don't have that.

Sorry TDX27, Aaaa-Ron is part of the problem. He can’t escape at all and opposing defenses such as yesterday, brought the box knowing all to well he isn’t going anywhere. That allowed them to pin back their ears and not worry about cut-back or running lanes.

We made a mistake bringing him back but Coach McCarthy’s hands were tied due to previous coaching staff hole that was dug at QB. I’m sure McCarthy’s was in as his comfort level was better with Aaa-Ron while bringing in a whole new scheme.

This week of practice / prep for the bungles will help show some inner makings of the new staff. Keep in mind we as fans need to be patient as the new scheme / system is being incorporated, that takes time and need of his chosen players.

way too much early season overreaction here... anyone who didnt expect early growing pains on the Oline just wasnt paying attention...

as For DK... this is who he is... Tomlin and Smith wanted him because he was a great downfield blocker and YAC guy.. he has massive drop issues.. he is a hothead.. thats why he isnt in Seattle anymore.

I suspect Fautanu obtained the boot by removing the one shoved up his *** by New England's defense.

They needed to stop going play action and just let AR drop straight back. By the time he got his head around he had someone right on top of him. They simply were pinning their ears back and going right for AR.
 
It’s always good to wait for a day for comment after a game like that. Obviously the offense stank. I had this down as a loss,so there’s no panic here. We all know they weren’t going to win every game,so I’m not jumping off no bridge yet. Also,I guess my expectations are lower than some….theres no way in hell this team is remotely close to being a serious contender. Watching a few other games yesterday just confirmed my thoughts

All in all the defense played good enough to win. They did give up 136 rushing yards,and there were a couple big chunk plays. So they were far from perfect. But I do like the fact they are being more aggressive and dialing up more blitz schemes than the past. Shall be interesting what Mr. Burrow’s does next week.

So the real disappointment as usual and it seems like nothing has changed for the last seven years is the way our offense looks. There’s one thing if you see the light at the end of the tunnel, but all we see is darkness so far. Obviously it’s early but that’s two games of absolute stinkers. The running game has done squat. The passing game has been squat. The offensive line has done diddly squat. The quarterback play has been very inconsistent. As has the play calling. 3 ******* points.

The real bummer for me so far is after a full coaching change in all positions, you’d think there’d be much more spark, much more enthusiasm. Much more focus. Much more discipline. I don’t see it.The only light I saw yesterday on offense
was a rookie wide receiver, then they decided not to involve him again.

It’s early obviously our offensive line needs to gel together and as usual, it’s gonna take some time. Unfortunately we’ve been saying the same thing about the offense line for the last 6 years. Will they ever get their **** together?

Or establish a running game before trying play action. When you can't run, they aren't biting.
 
if you didn’t see it coming, you weren’t reading the tea leaves. If the aforementioned statement describes you, best to shy away from stock exchanges.

True, True. Although, we saw what Aaron could bring to the table over a whole season last year. And they still chose not to look at anyone else. Not just Cousins. That's frightfully inept thinking/decision making if their goal was to compete in the Playoffs. It may be perfect thinking if their goal was to tank the season. We'll see I guess.

The reason nothing has changed on offense the last 7 years is because the players haven't been good enough, regardless of who is coaching. They need better players.
 
DK Metcalf - four catches for 27 yards on nine targeted throws. How do you win games with pathetic stats like that? This guy is supposed to be the #1 wide receiver.

Even scarier, we aren't really running plays for him to have a monster game, anyway. Old QB + Horrendous O Line = Disaster. Please fix it or tank to last place.

Yep. That was my point. We had No running game going and still ran play action. Even after we saw them paying no attention to out RBs on the PA.
