Jacoby Jones claimed; Archer released

That one stings more than Archer because we traded up for him and gave a pick to the Clowns.

Dri was a comp pick. You can't trade comp picks. We moved up for Landry Jones. The Browns used that pick in a package to move up for Jonny football. Can't say that bothers me at all.

From Roto:
Chargers released KR Jacoby Jones.
Signed to a two-year, $5.5 million deal in March, Jones has been amongst the league's worst kick returners this season, and completely incompetent on punts. He hadn't been playing on offense. Although he's now 31 and struggling, Jones' pedigree will likely earn him a look elsewhere. Nov 3 - 6:00 PM

Well, that's unfortunate. He can't be worse than Archer, can he? Although, with this season, nothing would surprise me.

I think a lot of us, while not Dri Archer fans, just did not understand the fuss over a 3rd round pick. Yes, there are many successful 3rds, but many more unsuccessful. I thought it was a dumb pick, but ****, I can live with dumb in the 3rd round. Dumb in the 1st, not so much, which is why I stay out of Jarvis Jones discussions.

That year was one of the deepest drafts ever... not every draft is the same, in some drafts there are guys taken in the 1st round that would be third rounders most other years due to lack of talent at a position or as a whole in the draft class, in other years there are 3rd rounders that grade out as 1st rounders in other drafts...

That draft you saw guys with high round talent dropping to the 4th round... many undrafted guys that year would have been mid rounders most other years... Taking Dri was a colossal mistake... though slightly offset by Bryant falling to the 4th and Cockrell being cut by the Bills... Several more appealing RBs were still on the board, and the DL and CB depth was really great that year...

If you look at it, Shazier, if healthy is a major impact guy, Tuitt is a major impact guy, Bryant is a major impact guy... and in the middle there was DRI...

Now maybe, had we not took him, we end up with the same players a round higher, But I think if we didn't go with him there we take a CB and that changes the 5th round pick dramatically

This is one of two things. 1. An attempt to see if a pro bowl return man can do a better job than Archer. 2. Tomlin wants another shot at tackling Jones.

I'm wondering how the meeting is gonna go. Lol

Thank Christ. All I can say is that the Steelers FO must have been completely brain dead. Not that they drafted him but when they realized he was incapable of playing a position. My guess is it wasn't his play. It was the fact that he realized what they thought of him when Bell was hurt and AB went in at Tailback. Probably a blow out.Wish the kid nothing but the best. He should really consider the CFL if things don't work out for him.

5 wide baby! Brown, Bryant, Wheaton, DHB and Jones!!

I figured after he blew two returns Sunday he was done...guess the right guy came up.

O/U 37 pp.

Might have to revisit the old thread and get a glimpse of all the dumb ***** in their glory. Third rounder didn't even complete his rookie contact...

It was? I had to go back and look, as each year I get a little more out of the loop as it pertains to guys that don't play on the Steelers. I am just enjoying football less than I used to. Anyway, I looked at the draft, and it ain't like I see too many impact names drafted around Archer, or after him, outside of Bryant, really. A few. Crockett Gilmore. Davonta Freeman. Bryant. Maybe I am missing someone.

I see it as a mistake for sure, but not a colossal one. Colossal ones are made in the first round, IMO. Teams make mistakes, and the Steelers are not immune to that. Like I indicated previously, I have no problem with ripping them for the Jarvis Jones pick. That is deserved. I just think it is a lot of wasted energy over a 3rd rounder.

Too bad Hard Knocks isn't around to chronicle his last day in Pittsburgh. The returning of the playbook. Him cleaning out his locker. Packing his apartment. One last trip around town. A stop at Kennywood. Once last time being turned away from riding the Phantom's Revenge due to height. Him sipping on a kids sized soft drink, wondering why he can't get into an R Rated movie without ID.

A punter punts with his heels on the goaline and it lands on the opponent's 40. They call it a 50 yard punt cause the LOS was the 10. A kick returner catches it on the goaline and runs it to the 18 and could have had the 20 for free. They call it an 18 yard return. Makes sense.

Dumb ******* pick by Tombert. Most smart folks on here knew it the day of.

HOLY **** IT HAPPENED! Threadnaught 2.0 commence but this time, with JOY.

I wasn't REAL down on the pick and was hoping the guy would do well but after a while it became apparent that 1) they could have got him or someone like him as a UDFA and not used a 3rd round pick and 2) they never put him on the field.

Good, he's gone, let's not make a habit of drafting any more of these little emm effers with speed!!!!!!

In my view they gave up a ****** returner for a ****** returner. The difference is, one did something. A couple years ago.

hahahahhahahahahahha

yea verily

that's all i got

At least we know Jacoby has the capability to take one to the house.
Dri, on the other hand, we never saw him get past the 40 or so.

On 93.7 this afternoon they were saying that Archer's average yards per return was better than Jones' but they didn't mention how many attempts.

We know he had that. Does he still?

I was hoping we'd see something from Archer. There was some potential there. Coaches drafted him, then didn't use him much.

So much for them not being able to admit they made a mistake? Can we put that stupid *** theory to bed, now?
