Jacoby Jones claimed; Archer released

Dri looked scared to take it out of the endzone last week. He gowned 1 that was only 1-2 yards deep? Not only can he not find a lane, he got scared to make a mistake...see ya.

I supported Archer until this season started and he showed no improvement at all. This is a great pickup. I almost guarantee he gets past the 30 in this game and maybe past the 40 - something Dri couldn't do.

Add me to the told you so list. Funny how fans who know so little know so much.

Oh there's plenty of draft picks to criticize the way Archer did. The Tombert crowd is gonna love this news.

well sham not so wow Thomas is available for a what the hell is he doing still on the roster discussion

I still dont think Dri got a real chance, at least offensively. If you never use the guy you dont know what you have. Then they use him in special teams which is a new role for him so once again hard to say what you have. I thought he was real close to breaking a couple this year, but it is what it is. Some team will pick him up and use him in a sproles type role and I would not be surprised if he does well.

As others said he was a late 3rd round pick and worth a shot. He is far from the only 3rd rounder not to pan out...

About time. Jones may have had bad year in SD but Archer has nothing to offer so this is an upgrade if for no reason he has experience and maybe just maybe a chip on his shoulder to put out. Also getting past the twelve yard line is an improvement.

That one stings more than Archer because we traded up for him and gave a pick to the Clowns.

He was never going to play behind Bell and Williams. Clearly they over thought his capability based on his 40 time. I'll take a football player over freak speed any day of the week.

Well I was wrong..Dri never turned into the player I thought he could be. Wish him luck if he is picked up. Let's go Jacoby take the first one to the house

Never saw this one coming. Why did the Chargers get rid of Jones anyway? Hope he pans out and doesn't pull a Scobee. So long to Archer. And if this front office drafts another little dweeb like Rainey or Archer again, I'm gonna flip.

He'll probably get picked up by the Patriots. Either way, he's gone. Surprising move.

Speaking of Jacoby Jones, Former Pirates prospect JaCoby Jones was suspended 50 games by MLB today.

Dunno what that has to really do with anything, but ding dong, the useless Smurf returner is gone. Hallelujah.

(I was obv kidding about the jersey)

Why did the Chargers get rid of Jacoby Jones? I guess their special teams suck too. Either that or an All-Pro return man has forgotten how to return the ball?

From Roto:
Chargers released KR Jacoby Jones.
Signed to a two-year, $5.5 million deal in March, Jones has been amongst the league's worst kick returners this season, and completely incompetent on punts. He hadn't been playing on offense. Although he's now 31 and struggling, Jones' pedigree will likely earn him a look elsewhere. Nov 3 - 6:00 PM

Love. It.

Never liked the Archer pick and am willing to take the chance to see if JJ can give ST a spark.

Have to say I'm less stunned by Archer's release than I am by the signing of Jones to replace him. I caught some bits and pieces of Chargers games this year and Jones seems to have run out of gas. If that's the case, I guess we can cut our losses with Jones and maybe finish the year with Wheaton - or maybe Coates - on KR.

I agree with this. I don't understand signing Jones. He was bad in SD why is he going to be better in Pittsburgh? I would go with Wheaton and not even sign Jones.
