Seriously, we have to squash them, immediately, with a vast show of military might. What I dont understand is why more people are not making a stand against ISIS. They have destroyed several of their "own peoples" historic sites / artifacts, they have beheaded people from several different countries, attacked people in other countries, bombed a russian plane, etc etc....They have done things to most of the powerful countries in the world. You think they would have been bombed to oblivion, but countries just sit back. I do not understand it....
 
It's getting sickening now. Bunch of posts about not meeting violence with violence. If we stand back, hold hands, sing kumbaya and let innocent people be slaughtered, is that better? Does that make us good, kind, compassionate people? What kind of ****** up world do we live in now?

Absolutely Canadian Bacon. In fact as an American I'm 20 times more likely to be hit by lightning than die in an ISIS attack. Do you know how rare it is to be hit by lightning?

AGW in terms of threats to humanity makes terrorism pale in comparison.

When the threat is incarnate (as in a terrorist)we react very strongly as our evolutionary past has built this into us. A far greater but more abstract threat like AGW is far harder to react to.

Having said that; of course Isis is a threat ,and of course this is a terrible tragedy.

Its not that simple. Bombing and invasions are what helped exacerbate this problem. Climate change caused the problems in Syria by forcing people from the countryside (extended drought)into the cities, and into joining the ranks of the unemployed being ignored by Assad. We all know the rest of the story.

Islam is an idea, and you can kill as many people as you want but killing an idea is almost futile.

What you can do is try to get people to grow up and forget about all their stupid ideas, whether it's a pedophile prophet or a magical hippie that turns water into wine, all of it is stupid and childish.
