We will not live in our fears. Just in our stupidity.

I don't care what any announcer says. And this is not hindsight analysis. I said it in real time in multiple posts in the game thread - the FG was the WRONG CALL. They were killing us with Wilson the entire second half. Blake was out there getting used and abused. You can't trot those guys out there and expect them to salvage another possession for you. You absolutely HAVE to go for the lead and try to put the pressure on Seattle. That, the weird fake FG play, leaving Blake in, and standing silently by as Sherman committed penalties on nearly every play cost us the game

The pure stupidity of running the fake field goal after the quarter ended when they knew our holder was out and shifted into perfect position is all on Tomlin. He is too stupid to be a good head coach, enjoy the 5th straight year without a playoff win and we probably miss the playoffs for the 3rd time in the last 4 years under this fool.

Why he takes Ben off the field on that play is beyond me. Ben could have oooch punted or thrown it away. Jones was filling No One. Just another play we as fans have to shake our heads at and think what the hell was Tomlin thinking.

Dude is just a B- coach at best. That's all there is to it.

That botched play on the field goal was utterly ridiculous. Tomlin thinks with his gut and throws darts at the board. One week he is going for it on the one or two. The end of this one he kicks the field goal. He is such a loser. Unbelievable.

So you basically are saying he is damned if he does or damned if he doesn't. Gotcha.

Are you honestly suggesting that the fake field goal was a good decision? Putting your back up QB back instead of the kicker.

What are you talking about?

I don't know if there's any logic to when he goes for it and when he doesn't, whether it is for two or on fourth down. The fake was an awful play call and it was a bad decision to not try for the score at the end.

Exactly. You have two options on that play, if you really want the first down:
1) Leave your offense on the field, line up, and try to just beat them for it with your best players on the field
2) Run a legit fake FG - catch them off guard and see if you can rely on the element of surprise to pick up the first down

But that **** we did? Eliminates the benefits of both options. You take your electric offense off the field AND take away the element of surprise by slowly switching into another awkward formation and waiting a few more seconds to snap it, giving the defense plenty of time to figure out what you're doing. That play was ******* inexcusable and should never be run by any team ever again. It simply doesn't make sense.

Should have gone for the TD instead of the last field goal. THAT'S the time not to live in our fears goddamit.

Unless it works. I wish they would of just left Ben and the rest of the O out there and run a play. Or just kick the FG.

There was no element of surprise. You tried to draw them off before the end of the quarter, then allow them to easily see your personnel grouping at the start of the second. Did he not think Jones trotting onto the field was an indication a fake was on the way?

Might as well have left Ben in as the holder and hope they didn't notice.
I don't have any stats in front of me and I don't know that it's one that exists, but I'd guess that trick play bullshit works less than half the time.

They gave Seattle about 15 seconds to prepare for "the element of surprise". My son's 7th grade team runs a better trick play than that.

I never understood this. Just because a play works out doesn't mean that it has to "make sense."

No. What I'm saying is that come up with a strategy and stick to it. This is all guess and test. That was virtually the exact situation as before half against the Browns. That play was we score or we have them pinned down. This???

If you want to go for it, just leave Ben out there... it is that simple... there is no need for trickery as well as he is throwing the ball

I have yet to jump on the **** Tomlin bandwagon, but this game changed that. Poor decision time and time again. The TD was a must go for, your planned worst case is the Hawks start inside 2 and could possibly get good field position. Carroll screamed and cried his way to his team not being called often for penalties and us being highly penalized.

Sherman mugged AB all over the field on almost every play. I counted 4 that were blatant that even Douche Bag Phil commented. Their line and ST didn't hold at all?? The worst one besides Sherman throwing AB on the ground for the interception was when DeAngelo was tacked on the 2nd down play. He was coming out of the backfield and actually tackled like he had the ball. Ref looking right at it.

Refs - just horrible, Carroll was right, you will see the changes in the 2nd half. Reversing Wheatons catch - and keep in mind the refs don't get the luxury of NBC to slow mo, freeze and go frame by frame. they watch game speed, and then over turn Landry's INT. They were just horrible and gave the game to Seattle, not that Tomlin, BLAKE and Turnovers didn't also contribute. But, with all that Steelers still should have won.

As for Blake. I have the game taped and some time off this week: if i can stomach it i am going to watch only him and chart. I think he gave up like 11 or 12 reception for i am guessing 200 yards, 4 TD's and 5 First Downs. Guy does not belong on the field. Shades continues to play 20 and 41 and they are inept.

There is absolutely nothing rational about going with that play, up 3-0 in the first quarter, about to go up 6-0, our D stopping them, our O moving the ball well...you risk losing the 3 points and giving them an easy TD, for what? To be up 10-0 instead of 6-0? I understand the whole idea of being aggressive, no risk no reward, but we didn't need to take a risk there. There was not much upside, and a shitload of downside.
