Tomlin has brought a coach friendly culture to the team. If he can't stop a player(s) from celebrating and getting a 15 yard penalty who can? As far as off the field issues he has zero control over. As far as I'm concerned trade both Bell and Bryant. Get what you can for them. It won't happen though.

And again this only happens in Pittsburgh? We are the only team to get 15 yard penalties? Please go back and check how many penalties we recieved for excessive celebrations. Compare to others. Compare it to the previous coach. Don't just make up ****.

Ummmm themselves? Or maybe Tomlin should contractually obligate that offensive players wear a shock collar at all times. Then as soon as he sees that they have decided to celebrate a play he deems unworthy of celebration he can hit them with the juice to prevent it. After all no grown professional should be responsible for not acting like an idiot, they need a Daddy on the sideline to do that for them.

I doubt he started smoking pot once he got the NFL. It's not that hard for the scouts to find out if prospects enjoy the ganja or not.
So let's review the 2nd round RB's that year:

Lacy - fat and can't get in shape
Ball - bad wheels & criminal issues

Or how about sit them for a series. Then maybe 2 series. Then maybe 3. Teach them if you hurt the team then you won't play. Is really that hard of a concept to understand? When Bell dove into the EZ head first and did a flip. Why did Tomlin tell Bell not to do it again? If he gets hurt then he hurts the team. Make the culture in Pittsburgh "Team First"...not "player first".

Bell's dumbass smoked weed because that's what he does regardless if he's an NFL player or not. He knew he would fail the test going in so he decided not to show up. If he showed up and failed, he would be suspended for a year. Don't show up and you only get 4 games....stupid math but it works according to him.

Well if we lose for sitting a player for a series and the team sees that Tomlin is serious about not taking stupid penalties that hurt the team then maybe they won't do it the next time. Start a new positive culture. A team first culture. Or just let the players run the team because Tomlin is just a HC and shouldn't have worry about getting stupid "player first" penalties during a game.

The problem with this is, how fast would fans be pissed off if the steelers lost a crucial game because Tomlin sat Brown for a quarter because he ran into the goal post? Then everyone would be saying that Tomlin has a massive ego and is going to make sure things are run his way. It's not exactly a win-win situation.

And you really think Tomlin cares what fans think? Look I personally don't think it will ever happen. Does it happen to others teams as Andy suggests? I'm sure. All I'm saying is that we seem to get one penalty a game from it(might be a lot less). It seems like it should be an easy fix. HC should just say not to do it. If we have a bunch of professionals on the team they should listen. If not sit the player. How long? If he is going against what the HC is saying then you do it for how long it takes. The rest will follow. Does everyone really think that this would be a hard concept to achieve? Really.
Now I don't/can't remember any specific games where one of these stupid penalties has cost us a game. I do seem to remember they always happen in close games. Some against inferior teams that let them stick around. Maybe this is part of the reason we play down to teams. Or maybe not. Sure seems like a simple fix if one wanted to correct it though.

If it was a simple fix no team would be called for it. The NFL wouldn't have a rule for it. Football is an emotional game and players sometime go over the line. Head coaches are very hesitant to try and temper that emotion because how are you going to win a emotional game with out emotion. So coaches pick their battles.

Show me where the Steelers were ranked in the penalties where they celebrated after making a tackle 20 yards down field or for scoring a TD. If they can discipline the team from not holding, false start, pass int,off side and every other penalty(ranked 4th and sounds like a disciplined squad as you stated) why can't they do the same for these stupid penalties? You argue just to argue because I brought forth an area of weakness in Tomlin. That is the only reason you are arguing. You yourself just stated you can teach discipline. Go figure.
