Fire Todd Haley thread

I coached youth football with a guy who coached defense at the college level for 30 years. He said tge biggest favour an OC makes is trying to trick the DC by attacking the defenses strength thinking the defense will compensate for its shortfall. For example passing in a crucial situation when up the gut has worked all day. Over chess.
Well I think Tennessee is number 1 vs the run, and near the bottom vs the pass

We passed the ball times and only ran 19 against the worst run defense in the league againstchicago . We lost the game too

Skott, I was referring to the direct discussion posted about the game the Ravens played in against us when they decided to fire their OC because of it.

If you want to start a different discussion, you also have to understand in game strategy. Bears loaded the box. 8 or 9 guys every play. The bears were forcing the Steelers hand into passing to beat them. Unfortunately they didn't, they got behind, and that also skews run/pass ratios toward the pass.

It's the problem with statistics. Look at this number, they are stupid because they didn't do the opposite. I watched the game, so I understand why the numbers fell the way they did, and not due incompetence.

He should.

Look, I won't argue with you. If you wanna fool yourself and say this looks like a team that can beat NE in the playoffs then go for it. I'm just being honest with myself.

This is not last year's team. The D is greatly improved. Personnel and experience has improved. Pass rush has improved.

Yes, I think this D can match up a whole lot better against NE than it did last year. My eyes tell me that.

Problem is Ive seen a lot of zone defense pressing the pocket sacks. Brady chews up zone defense.

And he chews up man. Pressure beats Brady not coverage

At least with man if you your coverage is good it can give the pass rush an extra second or so, but that's not really the case with zone.

Pressure up the middle beats Brady, and we have Bud running himself off 10 yds past the QB on every play on the outside and zero pressure from our DL on the inside.

But keep blitzing though, better than getting beat playing that soft zone ****, they might get lucky again with Shazier.

Hargrave is the key.

Hargrave is the key.

He hasn't shown much - they are all still too light up front without a true NT, getting pancaked up the gut in the running game is not pretty to watch.

I saw OL men flicking them off with one hand

Our offense is extremely predictable, every time we go to I-Formation we run behind the FB. 3rd and short with an empty backfield, here comes the pass. Also, having our guard stand up and then smack the center on his butt to snap the ball seems to take any question out of our snap count. We run a ton of play action passes on days when we have not established a running game, but hardly ever when we are gashing teams with the run. It makes no sense what so ever. How many stretch plays do we have to run with Bell jogging towards the sideline before they realize that speed is the key to the stretch play. His wait and see approach works well between the tackles when someone over pursues and you can exploit the gap, doing that on a stretch play gives the entire defense time to track the ball down.

Is Cam even playing? They are all 'good enough', just not any gamebreakers that make teams double-team any of them.

They are a light quick finesse defense now.

Like our offense.

If you want smashmouth and a big tough D ,you can watch the Jags. They took our look.

And, we'll go with 2 DL so we will never get a push up the middle unless we blitz with 5+ guys coming. Heyward, Wobble and Tuitt should be in the entire game. Pull Williams and even Bud if you want to sub in more DB's. Brady isn't mobile so you want to collapse the pocket. 2 DL can't do that consistently.

Our D being more finesse is because of our coaches. They refuse to put the beef on the line that we DO have. I'll say it until I am blue in the face, games are still won upfront with the big uglies. We put 2 big uglies in a game against 5.

The agenda must be pushed

Will anyone see this and make a sexy poster stating ‘out with haley’ on it for Thursday nights game? Rooney is being too ***** about this repetitive **** show Todd Haley runs. I watched us run the ball on a 2nd and 18.... then proceeded to watch the unsuccessful swing pass to Martavis Bryant go for -5 yards. **** is disgusting how we can’t convert on possession downs. Name 4 offensive starters on the patriots excluding Tom Brady.... and then tell me which of those athletes are considered one of the ‘best’ in their positions... that’s right, because besides Gronk, you can’t. The patriots can bring in any shmuck and throw a jersey on him, and he can immediately contribute to a high caliber, well coached team.

It’s embarrassing that Rooney pays loyalty to bum *** coaches and players and doesn’t see the fruits of his family’s legacy besides an unconditional fan base and MAYBE a reoccurring divisional title.

Whoever goes to the games, stop being silent. Get the attention of the cameras with a sign and let the world know, that we know Todd is ******* us. Barely 20 pts a game. I’m sick.

Do you attribute Brady's success to his coach?? No so why does our success has to be because of Haley playcallling.

I have acknowledged we havent played no where near our best ball. We have room for improvement all over the place. But we are 7-2. Anywhere else a team not playing well but still 7-2 the coaches would get some credit. But not here we are 7-2 despite of coaching. We could be 9-0 and still some ***** about the closeness of games or something else

Basically we're 7-2 because last year's maligned defense is playing lights out this year.
We have what is generally agreed to be the best RB AND best WR in the league AND a top five QB AND possibly the Offensive ROY yet we are 18th in scoring and 31st in red zone scoring AND lucky to score 20 points a game. Something isn't connecting somewhere and it isn't just Ben overthrowing receivers.

You want Ben to stay for 2 more years? Let him call his own plays.

If I hear we ‘re 7-2 again. This team was so close to being 4 -5 with narrow wins against a winless Browns team, a poorly coached Lions team, and an injury decimated Colts team.
Some of us are not comfortable with the current record and think it could be built on false hope. We’ve played against backup QBs except Stafford who sliced us up and Smith who with more time may have pulled it out.
This team remains poorly prepared and generally unfocused.
I heard it well said Sunday night when Coach Dungy said they were immature and Rodney Harrison said they were too arrogant and just think all they have to do is show up.
Sounds pretty much like a good analogy of this team to me ever since Tomlin came here. The team pretty much takes on its coach’s personality.
A team is a reflection of their head coach.
Cowher and Noll were tough *** get in your face type of coaches and their teams were of the same personality.

Now look at Tomlin and his cast of characters.
