Talk about LeVeon Bell in one place

The Steelers usually have Monday off, so if he's going to show up for Week 1, it'd probably be tomorrow.

I think he has to play in 6 games to make the season official per his contract. I would almost bet he comes back week 10.

I had expected tomorrow too as i wouldn't have thought they practiced on labor day. Someone said they would practice, though.

Me'Von might want to pull a Mack, telling the Steelers he'll never sign and forcing a trade. We'll see.

I’m pretty sure they’re practicing today. Especially with the starters not having played last week.

Yeah they're practicing today and the Steelers are pissed Bell isn't there:

We are disappointed Le’Veon Bell has not signed his franchise tender and rejoined his teammates. Coach Tomlin and the coaching staff will continue to focus on preparing the players on our roster for our regular season opener on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

No sign of Le'Veon this morning

Coach, Khalil Mack was under contract. I believe the Raiders had picked up his fifth year option.

Bell is NOT under contract until he signs so he cannot be traded. And even if he signs today who the hell is going to trade for him since they would be giving up compensation for a one year rental player. That tag follows him to his new team. There cannot be any negotiation with him until after the season. Very different than the Khalil situation.

He can only negotiate with a team if the Steelers rescind the tag. He’s then a free agent.

If he doesn't get in by Tuesday I'd figure he won't be playing game one. I'm personally cool with him never playing for the Steelers again. Unless they could work out a deal in some awesome type trade with another team I'd let him keep doing his deal or just let him go. At some point a disgruntled employee is just going to be a liability. The rest of the team deserves better. Talent be damned. It just can't be one guy above it all.

He won’t be playing much this weekend anyhow, no way will he be in football shape. It’ll be week 4-5 til he’s fully ready to go. I believe Connor can be the man for that period of time though.

Maybe he's planning on taking Deebo's advice and not show up until week 8 or so, whenever the league rules stipulate it. The more time passes the more it seems Colbert and the Steelers FO were being naive about Bell. The man is only in it for himself, maybe they should have moved on from him a long time ago. Not sure what they could have done, but this situation is really starting to stink. I hope us fans aren't being overly optimistic thinking Connor, Samuels and Ridley can just be plugged in there without a drop-off in performance.

Maybe all this hand-wringing is for not, and Bell will show just like last year. No matter how you cut it, Bell's absence today just adds more negativity to an already ****** situation.

My best guess is he'll sign on Wednesday, but the odds of a trade just went up, after seeing several players get long-term deals, and Mack forcing a trade.

I took a look at Bell's twitter page. #MackMoney is what he wrote.

I agree. Bottom line, if we have #7 under center I like our chances. No one is more important to the team than him and he’s proven he can win no matter who the RB is.

As others have pointed out Coach, they simply can't trade him at this point. He would have to sign his franchise tender first, which he hasn't done.

Looks like it will be the Conner & Samuels show. Maybe lighting strikes twice (actually three times) and both Conner and Samuels show they are legitimate NFL backs. Nobody knew who Bell was coming out of Michigan St., just another plodding runner, possibly a fit at FB, etc. Nothing would make me happier than to see these young kids put on show and make Bell look like the arrogant prick that he is. It almost pains me to think Bell will show and just waltz back into his starting role and expect everyone to be okay with it. He's really poisoned the well imo, at this stage I'd prefer the Steelers simply move on, and get whatever comp pick they can when he robs the bank with some foolhardy team next summer.

HE SIGNS THE TAG contract for one year then we trade him. Why not?

With 7 teams having more than 15 million in cap space he has options.

you're wasting your keystrokes, Coach will never understand that this isn't the NBA. Timelines, deadlines, contracts, trades, they details just seem to evade him altogether...

Tibs I keep telling him that as others have countless times.

Coach, if you’re listening. We cannot move LevBell until he inks the contract for the franchise tag.

And even then, no team is going to give up anything worthwhile for a one year rental player. He doesn't understand that the deadline to negotiate a long term deal have passed, he doesn't understand the difference between Mack and Bell's situation are night and day... he simply does not understand.

Obviously...his pedigree is only outweighed by his douchebaggery.

Is he a talent, obviously. Can our other guys avg 4 ypc...likely.

We will run the hell out of him when he returns, he knows it. After seeing the RB market already resetting before his eyes he would be wise to heed Harrison's advice. He will get paid, and so glad it won't be by us. He should be in preservation mode for that last big contract he will see. One hit could cost him millions. Hopefully he stays out for awhile so he can be tuned up for a playoff run. I have a feeling the 1600 touches he's seen over his short career with us are going to catch up with him sooner rather than later.

Help us win #7 and take the **** show elsewhere...hope the Raiders grab him, Gruden has been crushing it

If he's willing to do that. He may choose to squeeze the Steelers this year, show up week 8 or whenever, basically sit out the rest of the season with a hammy, then hit the open market and pick whatever team that's willing to pay him what he wants. Why play another down with the big payday he envisions coming around the corner?

I'm afraid the only thing to hope for is a high comp pick in next year's draft. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems this entire Bell situation has gone straight down the toilet.

This reminds me of Mike Wallace last year here, yes he showed up, but his heart was not in it, all he was thinking about was not getting hit and next years contract.
