Talk about LeVeon Bell in one place

I hope I'm just overreacting, but this is a pretty big blow to the Steelers. Any way you slice it, this hurts. ******* Bell.

And Coach, just save your YPC stats, Bell's loss will be felt in all facets of the game, especially pass protection.

**** YOU ME'veon

The middle class in this country is turning into the poor, and you can't bother to show up and play the season for 14.5 million. Good job of sticking it to your teammates. If I were them I'd give you the bar of soap in the pillow case treatment when you finally decide to be a man and show up.

Nice. We don’t get his services and have to sign and pay another RB. Fk him.

If it didn't hurt them so badly, I'd REALLY want them to pull the tag, but it will F them this year. The Steelers FO don't seem spiteful to do that.

If he doesn't report till week 10 I would franchise tag his *** again next year. with what we save for games missed it would be close to what we offered him in the contract, than lets see his smug *** get that big payday TWO years from now, and if he chooses to hold out again next year you pull the tag right before he signs it. SCREW HIM

Screw that. I want this ******* gone ASAP.

My greatest want is he signs the tag before the trade deadline, and then the Steelers trade his ***.

For a first or second rounder. Highest bidder. If it's to a ****** team oh well. It is only business.

I don't think a team will give all that up for a one-year rental.

Apparently Pat Kirwan (former GM) says a trade can actually be done. Forgive me if this is not entirely accurate but he basically said they give authority to Bell's agent to speak with interested team. They make in informal agreement the Steelers are fully aware of. Bell then signs the tag. He can then be traded and signed by said team.

Now I'm no expert on the CBA and it might sound a little dicey, but if Pat Kirwan is saying it can be done, I'll take his word for it. After today and the OL letting loose their feelings on the matter, it's probably best for all parties involved. Jon Ledyard (who's quite knowledgeable on all things NFL) said a trade could be done as well.

I don't think they are just stuck with the one year scenario. I think they can long term it if I am not mistaken,

Le’Veon Bell situation quickly disintegrates

At least one teammate has provided a clearly stunning off-the-record assessment of the situation.

“One veteran Steeler told me players waited a day to criticize Bell to give him a chance to come in Wednesday but ‘he ****** us,'” reports Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

If Bell will be facing something other than a warm welcome when he returns, he may not want to return any time soon, if at all.

Now that he’s not there, they believe it’s fair game to call him out, despite the general sense that players should not get between other players and their money.

This isn’t about business anymore. Bell has made it personal.

The only person getting between Bell and his money, is Bell.

I'm glad the players are being real and calling him out. Even being in the same business, they know he's been unreasonable through this whole thing.

No sign of Le'Veon this morning

Nothing stopping a trade once the tag is signed. What’s stopping it is who is interested in a rental player for which you will be paying $14.5 million and giving up draft pick(s) all the while not knowing if Bell will resign with them.

Bill Polian said that *** long as the CBA isn’t broached, there could be a trade with compensation that is conditional. Example, trade with 2 Rd 2 picks, if they sign Bell long term, it becomes 2 1st rounders.

It’s all predicated on when Bell signs the tag. The longer the wait, the less likely it occurs.

In this day and age of superstar players, this is the most likely scenario. Bell's agent sniffs out a team willing to sign Bell to a long-term deal and a wink wink agreement is put in place. That team makes a legitimate trade offer to the Steelers - to help grease the wheels - Bell signs the tag and - boom - he gets ****-canned right out of the Burgh. Not sure what the Steelers can get for him, but they can play hard-ball and refuse to move Bell unless his agent convinces the other team to up the offer. All this will take a backseat to the team on the field on Sundays, trying to win games. But this may be the best way for the Steelers to optimize Bell's value in a trade. Find a team that really wants this SOB and send him on his merry way. If I'm the Steelers I take the best offer and never look back.

I think a trade for anything significant is unlikely. A team would need to want Bell now, for this season specifically - a missing piece type acquisition. Otherwise all a team is trading for is to not compete in free agency and they’d be paying out the nose regardless.

You and lke make good points. Why would a team give up picks unless they really think they can win now, when they can just wait till next year and not have to give up anything.

But a question, with the Jimmy G. hype in San Fran after last season and them not having the best backfield, would they possibly bite? That's about the only team I can think of that may be a possibility.

But what would you give up for a player on a one year rental? Bell will hit the open market after this season. And with the type of contracts that have just been handed out I wouldn't be surprise if he isn't rapping about $20 mill plus next off-season.

That my friend would be the best move we could make bar none.
By that time Connor, Ridley and JaySam will have developed a rhythm and will have assimilated themselves into this offense.

If we can find a sucker I mean team that will serve up a first or second, Kevin better be all over it.

This guy has been nothing but a major distraction to this football team.

As an aside, someone mentioned these OL are out of line and "do you really care about your co-workers when it comes down to it?" Co-workers and NFL teammates are two separate animals. These guys live together during training camp & forge really close friendships. They host dinners for one another etc. On the field, they rely on one another so much more than any co-worker relies on theirs it's just not even in the same ballpark.

Ramon Foster's reaction was the most telling to me. Guy is the union rep for the Steelers & NFLPA, a veteran and understands the business side of things. When Bell, who thinks he's all-world by himself, which diminishes his protectors essentially, and then not showing up when he apparently said he would, and then has his agent do his talking for him, it affects these guys a lot (obviously as we saw today). Forget the money at this point (even if $14.5 million is pretty nice), these guys are talking about wanting to be apart of something special, and Bell apparently has no interest in it. I'd be pissed too.

I hear you on the one year rental. But if a team legitimately thinks they can win it all this season and just needs that one particular piece to help make it happen, who knows?

Another thing some have pondered, what if he comes in and pisses dirty? How does that affect the time accrual?

Steelers added Terrells brother RB Trey Edmunds after the Saints let him go yesterday. Supposedly he's good on special teams. Little added security since Bell is playing games. Franklin was waived.

FuzzDunlop raises an interesting thought.
What if he is staying out now because he knows he can't pass a drug test. Pure speculation but losing $855k this week for a guy who makes clear he is all about the money and nothing else? Hard to understand Bell's logic here.
