The most intimidating Steelers of all time

Let's stay on topic. I never asserted 95 was best ever, just said he was in top 4 of most intimidating Steeler, in his prime, not life career longevity.

If Lloyd played on that 70's team, he'd be in the Hall.

not every post is directed at you. It was asserted in this thread that Lloyd was the top dog..and you did bring up that Lloyd was voted top by his peers

and topics of threads change as they grow.

Joe Greene is a top player in NFL history, the cornerstone of 4 Super Bowl teams. Greg Lloyd had a small window where he was very good but not hall of fame worthy. There's a huge difference between the two.

Greg Lloyd had injuries early in his career and the staph infection to end it but when he was playing there was no one better. He was definitely the heart and soul of the GREAT mid-nineties defenses along with Kevin Greene. I think Greene even eluded to that fact during his HOF speech. I grew up watching him and he was extremely versatile as he could rush the passer and drop back in coverage so he wasn't just trying to rack up stats. It is a shame he is not being considered for the HOF as he IS worthy but he didn't care about the media or the sportswriters. All of those mid- 90's teams were in the SB mix and he was there in 1995. There should have been some SB rings in the 90s. Just a damn shame it didn't happen.

For those who remember him, safety Gary Jones was a fierce hitter. He should be in the conversation.

To me the obvious answer is Mean Joe, not only did he intimidate the opposing QB and O-Line he intimidated his own teammates on occasion.

We should put up some gay vids. You'd love that too

Silverback ranks higher on the feared list than Greg Lloyd.

Nope, they are tied.

none of those comments were from Bermuda....I went through 3 pages of your reputation comments and he left one negative comment but it was not a rude or insulting remark....

so quit bringing that **** into my football forum

and in his prime Mean Joe would have snapped him in half

I love Mean Joe and I believe he is/was the Heart and Soul of the Steelers, and maybe the most intimidating force in the game...but I think a fight between the two would be closer than that.

Thanks Coolie. I told Pop Dat Boobie that I have no problem letting him know when I give him negative feedback.

He's floundering in quicksand now. And must have just learned how to cut-n-paste...

Lloyd might get a few shots in but once Mean Joe got a hold of him the fight would be over

Of the 32 NFL coaches, Cowher in his prime only one other coach that would have given him a decent "DEATH" match fight. It was Jack Delrio but in the end Cowher would have won. Back in the day a few friends and I put together a bracket of NFL coaches and argued them through a death match tournament. Cohwer came out the ONLY living coach.

Jack Del Rio would rep that suit and tie and the tie wouldn't be crooked afterward.

It wasn't a very long tenure, but Mike Singletary would have busted both of those boys up IMO.

I was thinking of Ditka too, but he probably would have blown an artery.

Ron, that tie was part of Jack's downfall as it gave Cowher something to grab. I argued Cowher the entire tournament and clearly he didn't have trouble much along the way. I think there was 4 of us and we each had 8 teams. I got STEELERS, obviously. The two friends not in the match were the judges as to who was the winner. The Jack fan was truly a Jaguars fan as I a STEELERS fan and we were very passionate in our debate. IT WAS FUN and a good memory.

I'm not sure if Singletary was in coaching at the time of our event but he never made it to the final. It was between Delrio & Cowher. I'm sure our respective passions helped our respective coaches because twice I faced coaches of two teams I was representing. I forfeited (because the coaches were wimps) so the steelers could move on and not take any time (I think one was mike Holgrem). IO any event it was a lot of fun.

It got to be unite the topic at the local sports bar amongst the fans. We posted the bracket board on the wall, all good.
