Andrew Luck Retired

This helps us. As for Luck he left the colts at the altar. Why wasn’t this decision made prior to free agency and the draft?

Probably because he's a competitor, and was trying to work his way back. 4 months passed and he felt worse. It's called a progression.

He had every intention of trying to play, then his will finally caught up to his body. Sad and unexpected to be sure.

That's the other thing. Everybody is getting on the Colts fans for booing, but I don't blame them. Come on, he HAD to know he was thinking this for some time, so why wait until 2 weeks before the season. It's a dick move, plain and simple.

That’s not on Luck. It’s on the Colts for telling the world that Luck was fine and would be ready for week 1 when he was obviously much more seriously injured. The colts essentially lying about Luck’s injury is why it seems like a rash decision when in fact this was in the works for months.

Exactly! They had tickets to sell.

After thinking about this for a bit, a couple questions come to mind:
1) why didn't the team/Luck consider IR and a different rehab path?
2) why not "take the season off" to recover and re-evaluate next spring? He said he loved football and his teammates....

At 30 years old next month, he could be healthy and yearning to play a few more years by as early as next season. Why didn't he just take a sabbatical?

I agree with this, but i feel there was more to the story in general. The Colts were not doing Luck any favors by not being honest with his condition. Maybe he just want seeing eye to eye with ownership and couple that with the 2-3 yr constant rehab process he had just had enough. When he had his shoulder problems things didn't seem right then either. Maybe after he sits out for a year or so and gets fully healthy he will change his mind.
