Trade with Seahawks

You do know the difference between "trying" and "doing" right? It is a FACT that they did nothing after the draft to shore up the TE position. They may have thought about it.. postulated about it.... dreamed about it... prayed about it.. but they actually didn't do anything about it.

Yawn...you missed the part when the Steelers 'TRIED' to get Ricky Seals-Jones (TE), but the Browns stole him from us during pre-season...

Since you woke me up...

If Vannett was a THIRD ROUND draft pick---giving up on a future 'project' (your words not mine) isn't a bad thing. 3rd rounders have better pedigree, if you will, correct??? LMAO this discussion is funny as hell now.

I am saying they addressed it. I would have canned Grimble and brought in a vet TE. But that is me.

I don't know that there is one fan right now that loves everything Steelers, seriously. Everyone is disappointed in the play of the team.

They didn't address it or they wouldn't be in panic mode to find a TE now. They knew what they had wasn't going to last because their starting TE has never been health. Drafting a project isn't addressing anything because you know he won't play much if at all this year. Also look no further than bermuda to see someone that loves everything Steelers. Loves everything they do.

Yeeees, and now they've done something about it. Welcome Nick Vannett on board and stop obsessing about the past. Or don't.

I won't. So you're saying Vannett is the end all be all of TEs? Seattle was ready to give away such a valuable asset? BS. Read some of the Seattle papers and they are shocked the Steelers wanted him because he wasn't a good enough blocker.

Woke you up? HAHA. You can't understand basic English. So I'm not concerned about waking you up sunshine. They "tried" to do something? Really? Ricky Seals-Jones? The TE that has 1 catch for 14 yards in 3 games? The Ricky Seals-Jones that was cut from the powerhouse AZ Cardinals? The Ricky Seals-Jones who has played 2% of the offensive snaps for the clowns? Please son don't bring that weak **** to me. I'll show you woke.

If you haven’t listened to the Vannett interview then you’re missing out. I honestly love the kid and think he’s going to be a great addition. Nor just in pass and run blocking but in the passing game. He’s exited to show what he’s got!

I don't need proof to prove they did nothing. I can look at the roster. They did literally nothing. They are the same TEs as they had last year without James. So I don't need to prove anything. The roster speaks for itself. They may have "tried" to do something but the end product is they did nothing.

That is a fact. Indisputable fact. But you guys can't get over it so you come up with the usual "You don't know what they were doing" BS. You and your like are examples of black and gold glasses wearing fanboys.

There you go again spouting off like your opinion is facts lol it is hilarious. They did nothing, indisputable facts, using a draft pick on a TE is by definition doing something but then that doesn't suit your agenda does it Vader.

You rather just call other people fan boys because they would rather try to look for positives instead of constantly be negative towards the front office like yourself.

This offense needs to find it’s sync.
If that’s the case, I can see this as getting Mason Rudolph into a rhythm with familiar targets.
Washington and now Vannett

I didn't start this. I gave my opinion and some people, as usual couldn't stand someone not falling in line. You know and I know that drafting a 5th round pick wasn't going to help them this year. They did nothing to shore up the TE position.. nothing. You can spin it anyway you want. They started this year with the exact same TE group as last year with the exception of James being gone. Yes, they "tried" but they didn't actually do anything. They signed no FAs, made no trades and didn't take anyone off of a PS. They put in a wavier for Ricky Seals-Jones that didn't work. But even if it had worked you still haven't shored up the position because he can't even get playing time with the clowns. And that was done less than a week before the season started.

They knew from the time that James left in FAs until a week before the season started that they were very weak at TE. There were articles written about it. What did they do about it? Nothing. They may have tried but didn't try too hard because they waited until the 5th round to draft one that they knew wouldn't play much if at all this year.

BTW if the 5th round pick was shoring up the position then why put in for Ricky Seals-Jones? Didn't the 5th round pick do it? Why all the articles about how weak the TE position was? Because everyone knew the it wasn't going to work.

Did Mason happen to workout with anybody who can rush the passer?

He's exited Seattle, at least.

I wouldn't say I'm excited about the move, but obviously the Steelers filled a need. I watched him play at OSU...he had his moments. Let's give the guy a chance.

As stated previously, they knew exactly who Nick Vannett was, going back to draft prep. They made an aggressive move to get him, even if it was a few months later than preferable. The fact is, he's here now, I'm glad we got him.

I think if you sit on your hands when your team is showing deficiencies you don't give yourself a fighting chance to win. We aren't going to get everything we want as fans, obviously.

But regardless what we are stuck with I extremely hate to lose. I despise it. Always have. I have gotten better with my reactions to it over the years, but that doesn't lessen my hate for it.

And losing our franchise QB shouldn't lessen the want for making the team better. What would be the impact of Kelly starting all year? I tell you the backend of the secondary you don't want teams to be able to bombs away every other play.

If you don't have a blocking capable TE, you take away one element of being able to run the ball. And what Rudolph needs besides consistent pass catchers is a running attack to assist his game being green at the position.

I don't want the team that decides to stop winning now. **** that. We aren't the lolphins or the bungles despite our record mirroring theirs. We didn't get 6 rings by tanking everytime things didn't go our way.

Besides no better way to judge Rudolph for the future, by giving him what he needs now as much as possible.

My want for a new coaching tree doesn't diminish my want for wins. And as fans that should always be our first want.

To fricken win.

so if we made this move back before the draft - a 5th round pick for Vannett - it would be ok?
