Tomlin to Redskins Discussion Thread

Dang memory. I missed some chorus and stuff.

Shoot even I had to look them up. The fact that you know a majority of the lyrics of that song by heart is, uh, awesome. I mean Ramble On is a classic but if you haven't heard it in a long time... that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Tamper all you want. Draft picks. Picks is plural. I'd take a Tomahawk and a headdresses.

They need to throw in Riggo too. Now that Myron has passed we need a commentator 'at large'.

I'm pretty good at remembering lyrics and thats a great song. Rock and roll!

I wish he could fool the opposing team as expertly as he can fool the media.
I have you know just right now he is painting a barn in San Diego obviously not painting with a broad brush in the process.

.y Christmas wish list......Redskins get Tomlin and give up this year's first and 2021 first and say a third 2022 (just a little cherry on top) and between the current team,Haskins not being good next year, a lack of talent, and lack of picks and Tomlins incompetence they actually have the worst record in football next year. The Steelers then draft Trevor Lawrence along with the best receiver in college ball with the Skins 2020 pick. As far as our new coach....a pioneer. Then we win 7,8,9, 10 & 11

Or how about Scary Terry and their first round pick the next two years. That would be nice too

Mikey Cool Shades' price just went up after that Coach Of The Year performance last night. Playing for his contract just like Jason Worilds did.

I’d play with baker mayfield as my fantasy QB next year if that would rid us of Tomlin.

Make it so. Throw Butler in for free

I would want nearly all of our entire coaching staff gone with CMVLT. My curiosity is would Tomlin try to orchestrate a deal where his buddies would be included???

I think there will, at minimum, be a meeting that the Steelers allow/give their blessing to, between Tomlin and Synder.
I say this because the Steelers don't let Tomlin rule the roost now. It's Tomlin/Rooney/Colbert.
Synder is offering it to just be him and Tomlin.
There's either a rule on the books, or at minimum, a gentleman's agreement, that allows non-players to take interviews for open positions when it's a promotion.
I'm pretty sure teams can deny if it's a lateral move. An OC can't interview for another OC job.

If I'm Tomlin, and if I'm Rooney, and the Redskins come calling for a meeting, I think all parties are listening. For reasons previously stated.
IF the reports are true, Tomlin would have TOTAL control. His coordinators, scouting, GM, head coach, ALL.
He does not have that right now. We know that from a few recent coaching comes and goes to our team in the last few years.
If Snyder was just giving him President of Football Operations/GM/whatever and Tomlin would not be coaching at all, they wouldn't have to give the Steelers anything..... I think.
But if he's going to be Head Coach, too, than I think Washington has to pony up in a trade........I believe.
But Tomlin isn't going anywhere if he's JUST head coach in Washington. That would make zero sense all around.
Unless of course Synder goes full on retard ( and he has previously ) and offers an insane amount of draft picks to the Steelers and an insane amount of money to Tomlin to just coach.
We are without some picks due to some trades and could use some serious draft capital.

And of course, couple all this with the recent contracts/non contracts of Tomlin and Colbert and you got LOTS of smoke.
Again, I don't see this actually coming to fruition, but Daniel Snyder is the wildcard.
Depending on how full on retard he goes will ultimately determine this.
I put this at an even 50/50 of happening.

Its established precedent that if you hire an assistant to be a hc there isn’t any compensation required, but if you hire away a HC and just make him the gm as well there is compensation. It happened when Holmgren went to Seattle for sure...

Exactly. If it's a promotion the current team does not have to give permission to interview. If it's a lateral move they do.

Would Tomlin even want full control? Full control also means full blame. His time in Pitt may have taught him that not getting blamed talent evaluation mistakes is good for job security

You make it sound like Snyder actually has a clue about running an NFL team.

Danial Snyder is smarter than some here think, but has shown some not so smart characteristics. One thing on our side is if Danial sees something he wants, he will go after it relentlessly and expensively until he gets it. That will work wonders for us, provided the ROONEYS are willing to let their HC project go. ONE can only hope for the best.

Absolutely. Tomlin's ego is bigger than his brain. He's not smart enough to realize that.

I mean since he took over he has hired NFL greats marty Schottenhiemer and Mike shanahan, tried college great Steve spurrier, hired a guy as an oc then just instantly promoted him to HC and tried hot commodity Jay Gruden... that kind of is all over the place on coaches...

Bruce Allen is team president and basically GM...he isn’t going anywhere... when i went to check his Wikipedia page to make sure his time in Tampa overlapped Tomlins I noticed the Washington fans keep editing it calling him a clown and douche nozzle and other humorous things, but by all accounts Snyder loves him...

I'd say he has pretty much full control here already. If Tomlin wanted a guy in the draft and Colbert didn't, Tomlin is getting the guy he wants. He himself said he hand selected Bruce Davis, that was 2008 or 2009.

He is smart; have no doubt of that. He is a business man, however, and not a football guy. Reminds me a bit of the Pirates brass except I truly think Snyder believes he is a football guy.

True, Nutting is not a baseball guy, doesn't give a **** about baseball, and moreover, doesn't give a **** if you know he doesn't give a ****.
Snyder I think wants to win, tries to win, but he just doesn't know how.
The apt comparison to the Pirates in the NFL is the Bungles. Cheap owner who doesn't really care about winning, just making a profit.

maybe we could trade him to the Bills for Oliver and their 1st rounder next season

I’d applaud that. Even if Oliver is a small dl player who makes few tackles and will be lucky to get 2sacks for the year.
