The Coronavirus thread

Talking about big socialized states, Mad, I have a little personal story recently about that myself.

So I live in California, and I pay for medical insurance here (lol), and when I was recently laid-off, I advised my medical carrier that I am going to be making a different sum of money per year. Not only did it go down in cost by about 2/3, my plan actually got better -- with better co-pays for office visits, ER visits, prescriptions etc.

I just asked the representative, does that make sense to you? Why in the world would that happen (in a normal world I would assume)? She just said sir, I understand completely, I deal with this everyday -- I'm just here to do my job.

I refuse to suck from the government teet much longer past this whole bullshit "epidemic", and if I can't get my old job back, I'm starting a business of my own. Eventually. Damn cash flow problem.

Civil war is inching closer. The average American, in Beaver County PA, does not want to support, with their tax dollars, the pension fund, of Chicago IL. That is what they are asking to do,
It is not only Chicago.

We are inching.

I don’t know about that. Gonna be interesting to see what happens when these Rambo bro’s show up to a rally armed and are confronted by armed police or armed counter-protesters, someone gets nervous and shots get fired. I think at that point we will find out if it is for show or if the people are ready to actually fight for their rights. Something tells me it’s more of a show, but that’s just me. I mean, people want to go back to work, not necessarily fight a protracted civil war.

McDonalds Starts To Ration Meat Amid Supply Chain "Concerns"

The company has placed items like burgers, bacon and sausage on "controlled allocation," according to Business Insider. Additionally, the company's distribution centers have been placed on "managed supply".

This means that the company is now going to be rationing meat supplies based on demand, instead of just ordering what the company thought was necessary. And while it doesn't yet mean the company is facing shortages, it does suggest that even the largest US fast food restaurant believes further scrutiny of its inventory is warranted as the next may very well be shortages.

Two key McDonald's suppliers are Smithfield and Tyson - names we have covered extensively (here and here) over the last month as they grapple with the coronavirus causing significant production bottlenecks. More than 5,000 factory workers have contracted the coronavirus, with at least 20 of those dying.

McDonald's executives said mid-week that major production reductions were expected through "at least" the first half of May. McDonald's CEO said on Thursday that the company, so far, had not had a supply chain break.

He also admitted, however, the state of the meat industry was "concerning" and that the company was "monitoring it, literally, hour by hour."

Tyson chairman John Tyson said last weekend: "As pork, beef and chicken plants are being forced to close, even for short periods of time, millions of pounds of meat will disappear from the supply chain. As a result, there will be limited supply of our products available in grocery stores until we are able to reopen our facilities that are currently closed."

So, no closings at processing plants in GA yet, but but the bustling metropolitan area of Albany, GA, home to many large food processing plants, is a COVID hotspot. Must be those globetrotting food processing employees again.

You're right Sarge. It maybe past time to drag these clowns out of their offices and hang them for treason but there is no one to lead, no one to step up and rein in corruption...it is too deeply rooted into our Gov't.. The people with values and patriotism are too old and their young replacements have been indoctrinated in socialism since birth. These Stimulus Bills are the straw that will break our Countries back and nobody seems to care.

Remember the quote from way back in time....seems to be comin' our way

In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:

A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship.”

The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years.

I see a future for America that looks exactly like the path that Venezuela took. We are just getting a preview of upcoming events.

God forbid one slight pull of a trigger....

Its very "American" to protest in public places included state capitols, God Bless them!....but I am not at all comfortable protesting with weapons exposed...

I thought governmental buildings/property were off-limits even with those that carry a concealed weapon permit?

Well these aren't the 1960s and 1970s hippie protests, smoking weed and singing Kumbaya.

Take away people's jobs, prohibit them going to church, take away their rights, leave them hungry....things change.

Nothing to see here. The Healthcare profession and State Governments are beyond reproach, and as honorable as Priests...whoops. No as honorable as...nevermind. More COVID death counting corruption. It is just like Dems and ballot boxes - you can't trust the final tallies ever.

Colorado reclassifies three deaths as coronavirus cases after physicians ruled them unrelated

Three nursing home deaths have been reclassified as coronavirus deaths in Colorado despite doctors at the facility previously ruling them as not related to the virus.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reclassified the deaths of three people living at the Someren Glen nursing home.

“We were informed of their (CDPHE) intention to override some of our physician’s rulings and reclassify some resident passings we have experienced in the last few weeks,” said Tim Rogers, executive director at the facility.

An additional four other residents have also died at the facility, but the physicians ruled their deaths were directly related to the virus.

“We have never seen a situation where the health department overrules a physician’s findings. However, these are unprecedented times, and the health department official did not share their motivation for changing physician’s orders,” he said.

The Department of Public Health and Environment said it follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention when coding patients’ deaths. The department said the seven residents who recently died at the facility tested positive for COVID-19, but it’s unclear if they were tested before or after their deaths.

“The department follows the CDC’s case definition of COVID-19 cases and deaths … When a person with a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 dies, their death is automatically counted as a COVID-19 death unless there is another cause that completely rules out COVID-19, such as a fatal physical injury. A preexisting illness would not rule out COVID-19,” a department spokesman said.

Nobody was killed, nobody fired a round...I would say that is a shining example of responsible gun ownership.

KS is doing a gradual reopening. Of course, phase 1 does NOT open bars or restaurants. Kansas are requested to wear masks in public (kiss my ************* ***). The masks won’t be provided by the state, of course. I will NOT be wearing a mask. I haven’t this whole time. Makes no sense how NOW Gov. Kelly is wanting us to wear masks but before we didn’t have to.

Its all the big socialized states... they cannot support themselves and their math is bad so they lost any ability to self correct... they need the country that isn’t bogged down by illogical policies to support them and that isn’t right... let them collapse... urban America needs rebuilt and it won’t happen with the dim bulbs driving those areas in place

Curse of Tippecanoe

I recently found out my husband has 10 or so of the n95(spelling?) masks. Despite this I haven't worn a mask yet. If I'm going to get it and expire I don't think a mask is going to save me or anyone else around me.

My wife is a major rule follower, and I am not. You can imagine how our trip to Walmart went just a while ago.

1. There are arrows on the floor essentially turning the store into downtown Pittsburgh. It's a maze of one lane streets. **** you people. I will not Baaa!
2. I had my "mask" which is a thin material head covering like cancer patients wear. I got it at a cancer fundraiser. Totally worthless. Just like everyone elses. I wore it around my neck. close enough.
3. I needed Hickory wood chunks for some BBQ grilling this weekend. Of course it's in the section roped off for "Employees only". I find a Walmartian and ask her to go get me a bag. She gets perturbed, it's probably my resting "**** you" face that my mask isn't covering. She goes to hand it to me and I ask her to put it my cart instead. Social distancing, right? **** you people.
4. My wife grew angrier as I failed to stay 6 feet away from anyone. I needed hair paste to keep my head from looking like Doc after lightening struck the ******* clock tower. The woman, yes woman, stood there gawking at men's hair gel for about 60 seconds as I acted patient. I did it for my wife. But...patience isn't my thing so I said **** it and grabbed a can. Wife lets out a sigh and we move on.
5. Heading down a main isle, rule following wife in front of me as to ensure I'm a compliant sheep and she has to move aside for a fat ******* Walmartian in a wheel chair talking into his radio mic. He lock eyes with me and as he passes I tell him "wrong way". I look at my wife, she gives me a dirty look. I said "what, he..." I know!" she exclaims. We're off again. She's cute when she's mad...Her *** has a nice shake when she walks angry. I follow intently.
6.The ride home was a bit awkward. Luckily the 80's channel on Sirius was "slapp'n" as my son would say. Steve Winwood really had a thing for Valerie. I completely understand as I keep thinking about my wife's *** shake. If I ask her "what's wrong" and we get into a fight, we could have make-up sex. hmmm... contemplating.
7. I got home and realized that all I had to drink this weekend was some local vodka that tastes more like rubbing alcohol than Titos. So, I called the State Store about 80 times and finally got through. Scored some Brandy. Nice!

Anyone else care to share their 'Rona stories of survival?

I got surgical masks out the ying-yang for free!

They hand out a bag of 5 at the start of the week and 2 more each day here at work...
Badcat...if you need one...just give me a shout out... lol

I have learned not to take a drink with me in the store, like bottled water, as it was at that particular moment I breathed it in while taking a sip and went into a coughing spasm. (yes i coughed into my ******* inner arm. I'm not a monster or an ogre or what the **** ever) Cleared out a huge space around me. Try that Badcat.......you might get to the men's hair paste/gel quicker without worrying about that pesky 6 feet thingy.

Also, ummmmm hair paste **cough, cough** *** **cough, cough**

I hear ya...

But if I recall...the hippies didn't carry firearms as they were lighting up and singing...

No they didn't. I guess that's the point I'm trying to make. This is an ASTRONOMICALLY different time as compared to times and situations that led to protests we've seen from the hippie days or protests against abortion as an example.

Americans have had their rights taken from them. We can't go to church. We can't assemble. People are being arrested on beaches. 80 years old chased on beaches by police on horses. Mothers arrested in parks for letting their kids play on the playground. Deputies harassing mothers because they are letting their children mingle with other children. Stores refusing to sell car seats as non-essential.

Moreover, the lockddowns are leaving the supply chain short on supplies that humans can't get, as well as food.

Americans can't get access to healthcare.

Food banks are limited on food.

30 Million are unemployed. Think about that for a moment. If you assume 3 people to a family, that's 90 Million out of 330 Million Americans drastically affected economically.

Vast many of our freedoms have been stripped.

It shouldn't be surprising that people are beginning to take up arms. It was predictable. Hell our ancestors started a revolution over a 5% tax.

People are fed up.

Here, here. Concealed carry is the way to go. Or so my neighbor says, but not me. I'm afraid of guns.

I thought governmental buildings/property were off-limits even with those that carry a concealed weapon permit?

******* government. I went to one of those government "gun free" locations, asked for my free gun, and was told to leave.

@#$% them.

Had to respond, Badcat, if for no other reason than your post made me laugh. I live with my wife and MIL (don't get me started ... she's 88, still active, but wife would not let her stay by herself in New England over the winters so she's been living with us in a guest house for the past 15 or so years between mid-October and late April) in an area that is as close to 1950's America as you can find. Population is spread out, a ton of ranches, horses, goats, big properties. Anyhoo ...

  • We live about 10 miles from the "city." City has a Costco. Wife, MIL and I go to the Costco about 3 weeks ago, at the height of the Chinese flu panic. No toilet paper. What the ...?
  • Line to get in store is 50 people long, but because of distancing, we are spread out so my 88-year old MIL is among those standing in the middle of the parking lot while waiting. Traffic is literally weaving around us. Hey, cars weaving around an 88-year old lady? What could go wrong? Ahhh, Covid "safety." Yeah, sure.
  • Wore my protective mask, one made by wife. Steelers material, black, Steelers logo. Depicted below, though to be fair those masks are the newer version with the metal piece for the nose. Two patrons said they wanted one, a third guy said, "Steelers suck." Gave my canned reply, "Can't hear you. Six Super Bowl trophies are making too much noise."
  • Some aisles were marked off one-way, but not many. Work in progress, I suspect. We need coffee beans, which are right there, and that aisle has a stupid arrow. Wife is going to walk all the way up the other aisle, then go back down the other aisle, for the stupid coffee. Starts walking towards the next aisle ...
  • Oh, pu-leeze. I walk the 25' needed to get the coffee, return. Wife looks at me like I pushed an old lady down the stairs.
  • MIL from Rhode Island and therefore loves a certain franchise known for cheating and lying and stealing. Therefore, my home has stairs and an old lady, so the idea does sound appealing at times ...
  • Go to checkout, which is usually a zoo. Because of the limit on the number of patrons allowed into store at one time, checkout is a breeze. Yipee for lockdown!!
  • Cashier wearing gloves, wipes down conveyor after each customer. Electronic payment device, you know, the one EVERY CUSTOMER NOT PAYING CASH uses? Yeah, no. Go ahead and punch those numbers, Costco member, and hope you don't share a PIN with numbers that match up with a prior customer with Covid!! Wheeee!!!
  • Our area has a sorta-lockdown. Cops not giving people a hard time for being outdoors, even three weeks ago. Saw a family of four on one of the many hiking trails pass two teenagers going the opposite direction. The two groups were right next to each other! OH. MY. GOD. Disease alert!! Except for the fact that young, healthy people shake off the disease faster than the common cold, and the disease does not do well outdoors in sunlight. You know, the places we're not supposed to go.

I went to Wal Mart today and just now noticed the directional signs. Apparently, nobody else was paying attention to them either...lol. Other than getting yelled at a few weeks ago for entering in the wrong door, I don’t have any survival stories. I did hear a customer yelling at an associate today and he told her “I know you know the truth- **** OFF!!” That’s all.
