The Coronavirus thread

So to sum up Floggy and Decaf:

Don't be a weirdo anti-vaxxer, just get the damn vaccine because evidence shows vaccinations continue at a substantial rate, more and more getting the vaccine, but you can still get and Chinese flu and spread the Chinese flu even after getting vaccine, and the Chinese flu infection rate is exploding despite the continued distribution of the vaccine, and even after getting the vaccine, continue wearing a mask and don't congregate cuz Chinese flu.

Is that about it?
This "vaccines will not allow you to do anything different" bullshit anti-science rhetoric is exactly why so many people don't want to get the vaccine.

Rand was spot on...this is theatre. They know if they say vaccinated people can go back to normal, some unvaccinated people will do the same.

They are all "follow the science" except when it doesn't suit their purposes. They have completely eroded the public's trust in the science.

They are all "follow the science" except when it doesn't suit their purposes. They have completely eroded the public's trust in the science.

Bingo. They have literally eroded anyone's faith in "follow the science" because it's plainly evident the science they point to is anything but. I think it all began with changing the doctrines behind when a life is a life regarding abortion. Then it became 39 genders are REAL despite it really being utter nonsense. There are 2 genders. I mean....they recognize a professor at the University of Arizona who self identifies as a hippo. For real.

Then all of COVID. Fauci waffling and lying left and right. We have seen outright deception for over a year while they scream "it's science" when it's been anything but.

I don't know that we will get back to a point where people believe for a long time to come.

You simply can't see the forest from the trees. Seems to be contagious within the MAGA camp.

And btw, while you and others mock mask-wearing and other precautionary measures, may be time to pull your head out of your ***.

This is the kind of thing that drives me crazy as an advocate of "follow the science". Scary headline and then this:

Mannan said in most cases with the vaccine, COVID-19 symptoms are mild compared to those who are infected and unvaccinated.

“The key with it is generally the cases we are seeing, even in vulnerable populations, are less severe,” said Mannan.

So, we have a virus where the death rate is already low. I mean the death rate from smallpox was like 40%. We have vaccines that cut your chances of catching it by 78-94%. They also reduce your chances of getting seriously ill from it to a tiny fraction of 1%.

It's the most effective vaccination we've ever had, against anything.

But we are going to keep up the fear mongering. Headline is not "Risk of getting ill from covid after vaccine is a fraction of 1%". Headline is "You can still contract covid even after being fully vaccinated."

So when something like this is stressed over the very good news that we likely have some of the most effective vaccines in history against this, I have to ask why. Why do some people want to stress the negatives over the positives? I've never been a conspiracy theorist but this is truly bizarre.

Doctors that advocate wearing a mask is different than doctors, researchers and scientists studying the effects of mask wearing. Even you have to be able to see this. Wait a minute...

Doctors that prescribe medicine to treat ailments do so because of the research behind it that preceded the prescription. They've been assured by the researchers that said medicine or treatment works.

Doctors have been suggesting wearing masks because history shows it "may" work. Without knowing much about the virus. It's been a preventive measure and guesswork.

Now research and work by the community - The US Surgeon General, Danish scientists/medical researchers, the CDC itself, National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and The University of Sydney, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Department of Family and Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine in Rabigh, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Menzies Institute for Medical Research Tasmania, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, the European CDC, the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine, the Acute Respiratory Infections Group, the University of Illinois, the New England Journal of Medicine, the British Medical Journal, German medical professionals, the University of Minnesota - is saying wait a minute. Masks don't appear to be working.

Stay tuned. I'm not sure how much more you need than these EXPERTS in the field of research to tell you they aren't working.
So you’re saying that medical doctors currently agree with mask wearing, but soon that conventional wisdom will change? Mask wearing isn’t a political ideology for you, you’re just ahead of the game on its efficacy?

Unless the different variants popping up represent something new and different that the Covid from last year, and even the stronger UK variant which caused the spike early this year, which affected a younger age group. The **** happening in India with the new variant is alarming. This is a form of Covid which has mutated. It's like a friggin' horror sci-fi flick. That's why the masks are important through this all, to keep the spread low, with the various variants around. Let's pray the Indian strain doesn't make it too far, but it's already popped up in the UK. And we know it didn't take long for the UK variant to make it across the Atlantic back in Jan. Hopefully folks around the globe continue to get vaccinated, and continue wearing masks and taking precautions. Covid won't go away on its own just because we've all grown tired of it. It will take communities fighting it together, though collective effort and cooperation.

More info on Indian strain, if anyone feels like reading up on it:

sorry, but gotta ding you on this. if we cannot call it the China Virus, or the Wuhan Flu or the Kung Flu, then you are hereby not allowed to name different strains based on their origin. its only fair to comply, and refusal to comply is tantamount to raysissim. raysiss.

Least Vaccinated U.S. Counties Have Something in Common: Trump Voters

About 31 percent of adults in the United States have now been fully vaccinated. Scientists have estimated that 70 to 90 percent of the total population must acquire resistance to the virus to reach herd immunity. But in hundreds of counties around the country, vaccination rates are low, with some even languishing in the teens.

The disparity in vaccination rates has so far mainly broken down along political lines. The New York Times examined survey and vaccine administration data for nearly every U.S. county and found that both willingness to receive a vaccine and actual vaccination rates to date were lower, on average, in counties where a majority of residents voted to re-elect former President Donald J. Trump in 2020. The phenomenon has left some places with a shortage of supply and others with a glut.

Asked at Wednesday's vice-presidential debate whether she would take a vaccine approved by the Trump administration before or after the election, Harris said she'd be the "first in line" to take the vaccine if health experts like Dr. Anthony Fauci recommended it.

"If the public health professionals, if Dr. Fauci, if the doctors tell us that we should take it, I'll be the first in line to take it, absolutely. But if Donald Trump tells us that we should take it, I'm not taking it," Harris said.

You're so enthralled by all the minute details, digging through endless pages of stats, charts and data, you simply don't get it.

You've created a hyper-reality echo chamber for yourself, and spend most of your waking hours trying to substantiate your views.

Just chill out, take a step back, and look at the big picture. Nobody's out to get you. Nobody at the local, State or Federal level wants to ruin anybody's lives by upholding precautionary measures. There is no 'get' here, the elusive conspiracy you're so keen on uncovering. This is happening around the world, in all countries. Some places it's a bit worse, some places a bit better.

Just stop running around in circles trying to prove some dumbshit theory you've concocted about what's happening. Wear your mask, get vaccinated and encourage others to do so. That will bring about the return to normalcy quicker than anything else you've been cooking up.

Have a great day and stay safe!
see, this is where you are asked to prove your stance.

can you show where Tim has said no one should get vaccinated? can you show where Tim has said he is NOT wearing a mask? Can you show where he's said his voice of reasoning should be accepted by others?

or will Tim's posts show that he is wearing a mask (proven through various posts), he is suggesting that the Novavax vaccine might be safer (proven a page or two ago) and is telling people to do what they believe is best for their situation?

seems you, Flog, etc have screamed for worldwide vaccinations, blindly trust the injections, and wear a mask, two masks, three masks, four masks, five fish, blue fish, red fish, etc.

your hatred for all things that goes against the grain of your opinion blinds you to what is actually being said. this can go both ways, but is extremely obvious by you and Flog. Yes, Rona is real. Yes, it is contagious. Yes, it is deadly. This has not been disputed.

Flu is also real, also contagious, also deadly. So are a lot of other viruses.

Yet we do not stop the Earth from rotating just to combat those.

"trust in the science" has lost its luster. It has since been twisted to fit an agenda - one that has many speculating what that precisely is.

The point that Tim, myself, and others have tried to make is that there are underlying reasons that the virus has when it causes death. YOU, Flog, 21 and your knee-shaky band of Rona Bros refuse to acknowledge any of that. You push the Rona as if it's lurking outside your front door like some mob heavy, waiting to jump in your lungs the second the door is opened.

You NOW do not question anything that the Harris-Xiden administration is pushing, yet were posting 100s of times per day about Drumpf. And you have said you strongly oppose the Hungarian government.

Kinda like how Vice ***** Kneepads opposed the vaccine if it was under a Trump administration, but knocked little old ladies down to rush to her photo-op to get a saline injection.

And Hypoflog off to the races again pointing to outliers as evidence of the larger picture.

35 hospitals in Michigan are at 90% capacity so see the whole country is overwhelmed!!!! Run, hide! Save the facts bely that bullshit claim. Just like this one.

Where are these states today? Seems their approach worked eh? From your beloved New York Times:

Do you see a pattern? The leader of the pack is one of the worst lockdown states in the union. North and South Dakota are 19th and 22nd on the list. Leaders are your lock down states: Michigan, New Jersey, Rhode Island, PA, NY, on and on and on.

No mask mandate states rank:

Florida - 12
Alaska - 17
South Dakota - 19
North Dakota - 22
Indiana - 25
Tennessee - 28
Nebraska - 30
Wisconsin - 32
Iowa - 33
Georgia - 35
Idaho - 36
Montana - 37
Texas - 40
Missouri - 41
Wyoming - 42
Kansas - 45
Mississippi - 46
Arizona - 47
Oklahoma - 49
Alabama - 51
Arkansas - 53

Of the top 30 states/territories monitored, 23 of them are mask mandate states. 77% of the current new case leading states are states with mask mandates.

Keep on telling us masking works Hypoflog.
SD is currently #19, while being #46 in population density. That’s still not good, Tim. There should be a strong correlation between population density and the rate of contagious disease.

What explains rural states having disproportionately high Covid rates relative to their population density? Especially when testing access could be problematic. That alone should lead to lower rates.

What explains heavily restricted, densely populated California currently having one of the lowest Covid rates?

So you’re saying that medical doctors currently agree with mask wearing, but soon that conventional wisdom will change? Mask wearing isn’t a political ideology for you, you’re just ahead of the game on its efficacy?

You really do qualify for epically stupid.

I'm laying waste to your unsubstantiated claim that 100 of 100 doctors will say....countless and growing numbers of doctors and medical professionals and researches and scientists disagree. Re-posted again and again for effect:

The US Surgeon General, Danish scientists/medical researchers, the CDC itself, National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and The University of Sydney, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Department of Family and Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine in Rabigh, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Menzies Institute for Medical Research Tasmania, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, the European CDC, the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine, the Acute Respiratory Infections Group, the University of Illinois, the New England Journal of Medicine, the British Medical Journal, German medical professionals, the University of Minnesota

How many doctors do you think are in those groups above Hypoflog?

the same mask-mandated lockdown state that continues to lead the nation in DailyRonaDeaths?

1. California - 46

46. North Dakota - 0

Do you EVER post anything that is researched? Founded in fact? You're literally the perfect sheeple for places like HuffPo and MSNBC. They tell you how to think, fill you with soundbites and you go to war repeating said soundbites.

SD is currently #19, while being #46 in population density. That’s still not good, Tim. There should be a strong correlation between population density and the rate of contagious disease.

Wyoming is our LEAST populated state and is 42nd.
Alaska is next least populous but ranked 17th.
Vermont is the 3rd least populous state, under lockdowns with mask mandates and ranked 20th.

Once again, you point to an outlier...to make an overall case...and fall on your face again. There is NO correlation between population density and the rate of COVID spread. You're telling us what you THINK it should be. We have big and small states with low rates, we have big and small states with high rates. Period.

What explains rural states having disproportionately high Covid rates relative to their population density? Especially when testing access could be problematic. That alone should lead to lower rates.

You really are dumber than dirt. They don't. What is it with you and making dumb *** blanket statements as if they are facts? Do some ******* research. Wyoming ranks 52nd in population density (including our territories, etc) and ranks 42nd in recent case rates. Idaho is 36, Nebraska is 30, Wisconsin is 32, Iowa is 33, Montana is 37, Oklahoma is 49, Alabama and Arkansas are both above 50

What explains heavily restricted, densely populated California currently having one of the lowest Covid rates?

Once again, you're as stupid as a box of ******* rocks. CA is densely populated? You probably don't get the difference between population and population density. School lesson son.....CA is the most POPULOUS state but only ranks 17th in POPULATION DENSITY.

Read that sloooooowwwwwllyy. They are NOT densely populated, especially given their population. Another ******* case in point how you just speak **** as if it is fact, you assume it is, throw it out here and expect because you say it it is real or true. You spread bullshit lies.

As to explaining why CA is low on the list, likewise you can ask why are NY and NJ for instance still so high??? You do realize you're making my ******* point I've been making all along rightttttttt??? There are NO correlations but one. Big states, small states, rural, urban....some are high, some are low, some are doing well, some still not.

But the ONE correlation that continues to show.....states without lockdowns/mask mandates ARE doing better.

Of the top 30 states/territories monitored, 23 of them are mask mandate states. 77% of the states with the highest current case rates are states with mask mandates.

looking at the predictions from your link...Why is the worst case for California Far, far worse than ND and SD? If all of these lockdowns and masks and bullshit are effective, then why is the science so upside down?

thing is - look at CA, PA, NY and NJ.

PA's counts influenced more drastically by Philadelphia County with 3,390 deaths from Rona
Philadelphia is also very close to the established, known and swept-under-the-rug deaths from NY and NJ.

So if you removed just those three states (and I've done a dive into the numbers previously to show that CA, the democratically-controlled cities in Texas, and the most affected counties in NY and NJ) were removed from the count, you've barely got a blip on the radar for this humanity-ending virus.

In the "You Can't Make This **** Up" file....wow. Really Gov Whitmer? Ya blame travelers for your spike (not your policies, actions or lack thereof) then ask us to forgive your staffer for traveling? They really do think we are stupid, don't notice, and/or buy the lack of justification and hypocrisy.

oh, wait.

Flog traveled to Florida, a non-mask mandated state, after getting his jabby jab stabby stab, picked up the Rona and brought it back with him thus allowing it to spread like wildfire because Flog is an irresponsible douchebag.

LOL! The world according to Tim.

YES, California is definitely DENSELY populated. Using the figures YOU offered, there are 16 states that are more densely populated and 33 that are less densely populated. California also has 3 of the top 10 largest cities in the US. How is that not densely populated?

oh, wait.

Flog traveled to Florida, a non-mask mandated state, after getting his jabby jab stabby stab, picked up the Rona and brought it back with him thus allowing it to spread like wildfire because Flog is an irresponsible douchebag.

WRONG Supe. Have you not figured this Liberal **** out yet? Let me 'splain it to you clearly....

IF Tim or Supe travel to Florida after a jabby jab stab, WE ARE SPREADING THE RONA. We are super spreaders because we are (R). When you have the label (R) you are far more contagious and will in fact spread the Rona.

Gretchen Whitmer's staffer has (D) after the name. Hypoflog has (D) after his name. They are therefore unable to spread the virus. And are therefore free to travel after the stabby jab.

Trump rallies, Sturgis et al are super spreader events because tens of thousands of (R)s were there. BLM riots, marches, and AntiFA attacks are contagion-safe because (D) is after the name.

Gretchen Whitmer's husband can travel, Gruesome Newsome can dine in public....because of the (D) emblazoned on their chests.

Making sense now????

Holy ****-a-moley...what is it with you and denying mathematical facts? 2+2 = 4 Hypoflog...."No it doesn't!"

You make a blanket statement that California is densely populated. For the state with the LARGEST POPULATION, to only rank 17th in population density speaks volumes you cannot comprehend about the sheer land mass involved as compared to the population.

Like any state, they have their urban centers. But the OVERWHELMING VAST majority of California is in green - <25 per square mile. The OVERWHELMING....VAST....MAJORITY.

1618853323003.png

Compare to a state like Massachusetts, #5 in population density:

1618853467503.png

Or compare to New Jersey, the #1 in population density:

1618853559588.png

Population density refers to ALL of the land mass as compared to how closely people live together. People only densely live together in a few pockets in California. Even a monkey can see these differences Flog. The vast majority of California is sparsely populated compared to the square mileage of the state.

SMDH.
