CYP3A or Cytochrome P450 is an isoform responsible for drug metabolism by humans because it is the major such enzyme in critical tissues such as the gastrointestinal tract and liver. Paxlovid's co-administration with drugs highly dependent on CYP3A for clearance and for which elevated concentrations are associated can cause serious and/or life-threatening reactions.

As the article mentions, the list of common medications that would be contraindicated would be long. At the top of the list would be statins, and who isn't on one these days?

Antiarrhythmics, calcium channel blockers, warfarin, some anticonvulsants and antidepressants, systemic corticosteroids and a long list of HIV medications.

CYP3A is involved with the metabolism of probably 50% of all medications in one form or another, that's going to make this drug a no go for many.

This drug may be beneficial for some, but it's not a panacea and hopefully won't be promoted as such.

First off testing positive doesn’t actually mean you have it… id explain this again, but its really not worth it… everyone else is starting to understand it now… the cdc is starting to explain it better so eventually people will get it

Secondly a small percentage of people wont have the immune response to fight off reinfections but they should be less severe each time..

Thirdly the new omicron variant is so different of a protein that all earlier immunity is going to be challenged to keep up… however it doesn’t seem very dangerous… now the key point about natural immunity for this variant is that it still operates better than the vaccines, whose protein spike fragment has a negative impact on contagion for all the reasons we were warned about before they released it…

Ultimately though the omicron seems closest to the flu though so we probably lucked out on this

So, an update of sorts on my family's Christmas illness. I can say with 99.9% certainty that I brought COVID into my house, and spread to my family.

My test results still haven't come back fir whatever reason, likely the holiday. But my daughter got tested this morning and she is COVID positive. She caught that **** from me over Christmas.

On the plus side, I am symptom free, and have been for 3 days. Daughter is feeling what she describes as about 90%, although she is still coughing some. Wife had only mild symptoms for a few days, but has a nagging cough she can't shake.

So yeah. Yay me. Got my whole family sick. Except for my son. Unvaccinated, had Covid about a year ago, did not get sick. Only unvaccinated person in the house. Didn't get sick. At all.

My three kids all vaxxed, one boosted, two previously infected, never tested positive this week and did not get sick. Hubby and I both vaxxed, both previously infected, tested positove and had mild cold symptoms. Seems it’s all something of a crap shoot.
Completely anecdotal of course but I now personally know only two people who have died from covid. Both early 60s, one with underlying health conditions, one perfectly healthy as far as I know. Both unvaxxed.

Yeah, it's nuts. I don't know what to make of it. Thanks to my doctor not using rapid tests and a long holiday weekend, I still don't have my results. So that means I have to miss work tomorrow despite the fact that I feel fine because my boss says I can't work til that comes back.

Even funnier, my daughter was cleared by occupational health to return to work tomorrow even though she's still symptomatic because she has had her symptoms for five days or more.

I don't know. Nothing about any of this makes any sense anymore.

The virus is so freaking contagious - almost as if it was manipulated in a lab to make it more contagious to humans.

But that is impossible, right? I mean what kind of ugly, sick government would allow THAT to occur, right?

wow that's awful, I'm so sorry. Thoughts and prayers to you all and her family of course. If you learn more details please share. I thought I remember you saying she was let go from the hospital but can't recall. Did she ever go home after being in ICU?

None of us do. All of our stories, put together, don't add up.

OFTB: Everyone vaxed, some triple...2 get it others don't. 2nd time too.

You: The only one that doesn't get it is your unvaxed son. The vaxed all do.

Me:
  • Older son had it in July 2020, was around him solid, shoulder to shoulder for 3 days prior to positive test. None of us caught it, all unvaxed.
  • Wife/younger son catch it at my niece's wedding (5 people did) in May. I was their shadow that day, went everywhere they did, sat where they did, hugged who they did, talked to who they did. Stayed in the hotel with them after the wedding. Drove them home. Spent two more days with them, went to mother's day dinner, ate off of son's silverware and from his soup. They both tested positive the next day. I did not.
  • August, youngest catches Delta. I helped him fit a weight lifting belt. Next day he tests positive. 3 days later, I tested positive.
Every person I know right now that has Covid, or who has over the past two weeks is vaxed. I've had one person I know pass from Covid, vax status still unknown. He was 55 or 56.

It's highly contagious, yet...at times it seems like you couldn't catch it if you tried to. Sometimes I think you're more likely to catch Covid visiting a Walmart than kissing someone with Covid.
 
This is pretty disturbing, because real life is scarier than fiction. Listen to the list of bills being voted on in January in New York in this video. These should scare any citizen anywhere. That these are even being considered is a travesty. Being considered together? I'd move from New York in a heartbeat. As many are.

How can the one about imprisonment without trial be permitted? Like **** like that shouldn’t even be allowed on a ballet.

Are they ******** nuts? You couldn't pay me enough to live in some of these states. They look more like a foreign communist country.

The correct move is to use the overly sensitive rapid tests to determine the potential positives and do a more extensive lab test on the positives… tgey were doing that at some places for a while…

She was released from ICU to a regular room and her oxygen reduced from 100% to 50%, never went home. It seemed she was on the mend. I don’t know exactly what transpired to require the emergency surgery yesterday, her son posted it was damage to other organs but I don’t know exactly what.

Happening in Australia and has been for months.

How? Simple. You bypass the constitution and all rights by uttering the phrase "In the name of Public Safety."

As Reagan used to say, the scariest phrase was "I'm from the Government and I'm here to help." We now have to addd "In the Name of Public Safety" to the list. If the Government, at any level, can declare a situation detrimental to public safety, they can do just about all they want to do. As evidenced for nearly 2 years now.
