1st 3rd Round Pick allar

There’s lots of diehard Penn state fans on here that would know this because I don’t have a clue. What’s he like in all his interviews etc. Does he feel like the type that will put in the effort to do what he has to do to succeed? I do realize he was one of the youngest QB’s to come out in the draft. He just turned 22.

I always came away impressed with Howard’s attitude.
Yes, he’ll put in the work. He’s a good, confident kid that believes in himself. He has pretty crummy footwork at times that hinders his accuracy. If he gets that corrected, and simply sets and throws the Steelers got a steal. We will see what happens I guess.

They will both get an equal shot unless....Allar gets " injured" and has to sit a year. Maybe any new qb with the Steelers has to sit a year and learn from the bench and the film room. Howard just sat as an A grade pupil under magician Roger's. Now he is trusted to take snaps! Allar.....not so fast.

Why are two unproven and likely average, late picks something to get excited about.

I don’t see our coach, Chef Boyardee, teaching them much other than making spaghettios.

Why do you think anyone cares about your (post(s)

Making spaghetti is seems more relevant.!!!

I'm down with it, best tools in this draft, that's what you look for in a mid round pick. Would have hated it if Tomlin was still here, he is very similar to James Franklin. I want to see what McCarthy can do with him.

First step, let him learn for an entire season and work on the bad habits in camps and practice. Just let him cut it loose, feels like he was afraid to make a mistake, like all QBs that Tomlin coached.

Mason is barely mentioned by the coaching staff. Maybe they trade him if Rodgers signs.

Mason is cheap insurance, maybe they actually tell Mr. Rodgers to go search for butterflies………………..

I advocated for Allar, I said first 3rd round pick several times.

I also said a possible move up in the second, but am glad that didn’t occur.

I’m no GURU when it comes to these players, but I do know his physical attributes are VERY football friendly, something that doesn’t come along to often.

I also know he wasn’t as bad a QB as some here portray him to be.

He is very coachable, look at the difference3 from season to combine time differential and how much improvement his footwork to upper body mechanics improved.

It shows coachability and MM has that factor.

I want to be right through his success here as this franchise could sure use a boost, whether Howard or Allar.

Now we have 2 qbs we want to see actually throw the ball in real game action. Can't wait. Do your magic Big M!!!

For reference, here were Allar's WRs at Penn State

Keandre Lambert Smith - Round 5 - played 2023 year with Allar, transferred to Auburn
Harrison Wallace - undrafted, transferred to Ole Miss for 25
Liam Clifford - undrafted
Omari Evans - undrafted
Julian Fleming - undrafted
Trebor Pena - undrafted
Devonte Ross - undrafted
Kyron Hudson - undrafted

This is the type of research I enjoy. 👏

Think we could have got him later, but the Everette and Dunker picks more than made up for it in my mind.

Did you forget Parker Washington .... Round 6 2023, Jax. Had somewhat of a breakout season last year.
And let's not forget the three TEs that he had that were drafted fairly high ... 1st, 2nd and 4th.

Not sure. I think it was a risky proposition for them as they seemed to have a type and one of the two was already selected.

PS: Thanks for the research and your time in this.

Tape, that’s not much of a list for talent.

I think Allar is going to surprise many.

Get him in here with real professional talent and we might get the right results we are all looking for.

The greatest Penn State QB was Kerry Collins, the best Ohio State one was Tomczak... maybe Stroud if he doesnt unravel ...

Now McCarthy has gotten maximum results from guys who cam from programs notorious for having QBs tgat flopped in the NFL before, but Allar is the first whose problems include bad instincts and field vision. Like Prescott and Rodgers werent guys that completely broke down under pressure... that and his short throw accuracy are the two big issues that are problematic...
Allar looks like a bigger version of Will Levis but at least we are taking some cuts at the fences.

Parker Washington's last year was Allar's freshman year, he threw 60 passes the entire year. And as for the TE's, Brenton Strange again only played with Allar his freshman year, Theo Johnson had one year with him, 34 receptions for 341, and Tyler Warren, the only real legitimate target he had at Penn State, his last year was coincidentally Allar's (and Warren's) best season...

Exactly, they could have risked 20 more picks, but if he pans out nobody will remember. They could have gotten Kenny in the 3rd, that's the one that bit them.

Without knowing Allar’s helmet size (ceiling)
And hand size (floor)
Were all just speculating

Imma move out to that big black and gold X in the pasture and await next drop from DIC and speculate some more…pretty sure I can talk myself into a threepeat happening soon

I'll give you Washington and Strange as he was a Freshman. But, the other two only strengthen my point that he had some decent targets in those TEs regardless of the crap he had at WR. Presumably he will have a chance to work with better WRs and a good top 2 TEs while in Pittsburgh. Let's see what he does with that.

Why didn't Allar have a huge game vs Ohio State with studs like Harrison Wallace, Liam Clifford and Julian Fleming?

does anyone know Allars head size?

Twice as big as Kenny Fucken Pickett’s head……………..

W-A-I-T

His hands,….. that’s it…….. it’s his hands that are twice as big………. As KFP’s
