1st 3rd Round Pick allar

Parker Washington's last year was Allar's freshman year, he threw 60 passes the entire year. And as for the TE's, Brenton Strange again only played with Allar his freshman year, Theo Johnson had one year with him, 34 receptions for 341, and Tyler Warren, the only real legitimate target he had at Penn State, his last year was coincidentally Allar's (and Warren's) best season...

The fact that Franklin made Warren wait his turn behind Strange and Theo Johnson sums it up for Penn State. Strange and Johnson were good but not potential game changers like Warren.

Last season, he's sending Liam Clifford out there and high upside WR Kobe Howard barely played.

We hear rumors of trading Rudolph but he is cheap, veteran. He stays. Rogers isn't on the team . I think they go with Rudolph, not Roger's.
I would really like to see Rudolph with MM coaching him up. Maybe he could turn into a decent starter with a actual QB whisper in his corner.

With McCarty's first draft, the Steelers finally completed the puzzle to have pieces at every spot to set up a young QB for success. Of course, the rookies need to develop and live up to their potential. If that happens, I like the core they've built.

The OL will need time to develop, but the future group is looking like: Fautanu, Dunker, Frazier, McCormick, Iheanachor
RBs: Dowdle, Warren, Heidenreich
TEs: Freiermuth, Washington
WRs: DK, Pittman, Bernard, Wilson

Zero chance Tomlin drafts that many offensive players.

I'll give you Washington and Strange as he was a Freshman. But, the other two only strengthen my point that he had some decent targets in those TEs regardless of the crap he had at WR. Presumably he will have a chance to work with better WRs and a good top 2 TEs while in Pittsburgh. Let's see what he does with that.
I'm not sure how it strengthens your point. As I said, Allar had his best year in 2024, also his only year with Warren starting, and Warren had 104 catches. The only legitimate target he had and it was also his best year...meaning, give the kid some weapons and coaching and see what happens.

Mike Tomlin is gone, move on already. Bill Cowher didn't want Ben either, the HC doesn't get everything he wants in Pittsburgh. They have input, but the idea that they can do whatever they want is laughable. It always has been.

You're not sure how it strengthens my point? My point was that, contrary to what was said, Allar did have "some" receiving weapons. I didn't say alot. But, some. You pointed out that two of the four that I referenced couldn't really be attached to him. That left two (one of whom was excellent) weapons that he had during his 2 full years as a starter. Wrs? No. TEs though ... he had one serviceable weapon and one All-American, 1st round draft pick.
As far as what he can or can't do with weapons surrounding him, I do believe that I have said "Let's see"; because he'll have some here.

Here's Howard against ND in the national championship. Note all the guys wide freaking open. Howard also missed a wide open TD to Tate and had an INT erased by a good play by Henderson.

For direct comparison, here's Allar vs the same ND defense 1 game earlier. Penn State WRs had zero receptions. He misses a few throws, but nobody but Warren and RBs can get open.

Trebor Pena - undrafted
Devonte Ross - undrafted
Kyron Hudson - undrafted
It is pretty amazing that Penn State brought in these three receivers, all seniors, to bolster a weak wide receiver room in 2025...and none of them were even good enough to be drafted.

Correct,

Correct, ONE TE is apparently enough weapons for you I guess, no WR, BUT ONE TE.

The QB coach told Allar he would be competing directly against Howard. Tell Rodgers thanks, but we're good and move on. I want to see the young guys, good and/or bad. LET'S GO!!!!!!!!

If 1 WR has been good enough for Omar up until this year, why not? Seriously, whatever happened to the idea that a good QB makes those he works with better? If Drew, or Howard for that matter, NEED elite talent at every WR spot in order to succeed, the Steelers are going ti have to keep looking for QB1.

I think I found a way to improve Steelers fans perspective of Drew Allar as a potential starting QB. Have all fans who witnessed the Notre Dame fiasco simply look right here ...

Yeah, I get it, but there is a considerable difference between having Egbuka, Smith and Tate as your WR's and having UPS driver, sous chef and mall cop as your receivers.

Forget elite, Allar never had serviceable WRs. The first three draft classes were Allar's teammates. That's a paucity of talent compared to Howard's 2024 team.

Understood. As I said, he won’t have that problem here (now), let’s see what he does with the opportunity. It will be an intriguing camp battle. Especially if they don’t bring the old guy back.
My personal thought is that neither Allar nor Howard is the answer. I would be very happy if one, or both proved me wrong.

This is a great idea in theory, but there just aren’t many of those guys. How many QBs in the NFL today make the players around them better? I remember watching Ben in the AFCCG throw to scrubs, there’s only so much even the greats can do on their own.

And this is exactly why you take shots at QBs and surround them with talent. Maybe you find one who clicks within a system and elevates their game with the talent around them. Ben Roethlisbergers and Josh Allens aren’t exactly falling off trees.
