2016-2017 Pens----Still with 100% more Kessel

And while I am bitching, Mike Sullivan is doing his best Dan Bylsma impression. No adjustments, just get to your game. It ain't working. You are going to actually have to coach and find a way to beat Ottawa's trap. Barring that, you are done in 5, 6 at most skippy.

Gotta give credit to Andersen. The guy has just stopped whatever chances the Pens get. I thought the Pens did well on generating some offensive pressure. In hockey all it takes is one lucky bounce for a goal. If the guys are frustrated, then they should look in the mirror

Pens song for today. Hope the wake up Friday

Get some sleep tonight Pens fans. Worst point is the series goes 2-1. Pens can win next one if their hearts are in it

*edit: Not worried o.O

Calling it now. Senators in 5, 6 at most.

Also helps that any shots on goal go right into Andersens chest.

It's sick when he goes cross crease on a one timer and they are still hitting him in the chest. His positioning is unreal!

Though I'm happy to see Murray in the game. He doesn't look like his groin is hurting him at all. He's moving well laterally.

Friday will tell if the Pens wanna play or just going through the motions.
Night guys

So I saw the first goal out on the porch on my phone. I put it down to put my daughter to bed (usually takes 8 min), I come back and we're down 4-0. Wow. I didn't see this coming, but it is hockey. Some nights, everything just works for the other team. Can they sustain it? I'm not sure, but it's time for the Pens to show what they can do. Averaging 1 goal per game is not going to get them in the finals.

Pens came out prepared to play another 1-0 game, instead they got caught flatfooted from the start. What a shitshow.

So who starts in goal for game 4?

Hey its Fleury's net to lose right? And he did a pretty good job of it tonight...But it's far from MAF's fault though.

I would start Murray for no other reason than to spark the team.....But that is why I am sitting in the easy chair at home and not coaching the pens.

If you don't start Fleury Friday night, you may break his spirit. Start him and don't wait until 4-0 to pull him, if it gets to that point again.

They need to show some life. They tie it up Friday night and they go home with home ice. By Sunday night, they could be one win away from taking the series. If they are not inspired by that scenario, then shine those golf clubs. This was a pitiful performance. I get it, OTT was pumped up and was aggressive. Slow down the game, take a time-out, do something to change the momentum. This was one game to forget and they better do it fast. Their frustration and slashes are petty. Play better, don't act like poor sports.

3 games, 3 goals is not going to get it done. They're lucky not to be down 3-0.

The pens either win this next game or they're pretty much done. 1-3 leaves zero room for error. How bad do they want it? Just too much sloppy uninspired play going on.

Fleury isn't the problem with this team. Scoring 1 ******* goal a game against any team is the problem. How the **** they can't figure out the Ottawa D amazes me. This series is over unless they start scoring 3+ per game. ****, they had 5 damn PP's in game one with one of them being a 2 man advantage for well over a minute and they didn't score. You'd figure they would have worked on that between game 1 and 2. Here we are headed into game 4 and they have apparently made zero offensive adjustments.

The O wasn't all that good against the Caps either. Need more than 26 shots, one point, and no power play goals.
Kinda doesn't matter if Fleury allows 1 point or 10 when they can't muster more than 1 point themselves and are shut out for two and half periods.

Fleury isn't the problem with this team. .

3 goals on 3 shots tends to demoralize any team. It was over before it even started. I think you have to go to Murray now, not wait till you're down 3-1.

...and get Kunitz the **** out of the top 6! Slow and sloppy is not the way to go.

Sheary, Kunitz and Bonino were blackholes of suck, bench them all and play every set of fresh legs you got, desperation time!

If you don't start Fleury Friday night, you may break his spirit.

That could very well have been his last game as a Penguin - he can regain his spirit in Vegas, we can't afford a repeat.

Matt Cullen: "We played like ****. No excuses. That’s the bottom line."
"It’s the conference finals. To have that kind of effort is pretty tough to stomach."

Kinda sad the oldest player on the team has to tell everyone they aren't trying hard enough.

Fleury isn't the problem. The team played like complete trash. But he could benefit a night or two off. Murray can and will hold up in the series. The team needs a mental wake up more than a physical one. The eye test shows uninspired play. I don't want the Pens going in overly emotional next game. But they need that never phased attitude that Murray provides. I'd give Murray the start and tell MAF to digest the loss, take the night off and recover

Well I guess if nothing else we can take solace that they responded so well in game 7 against the Craps with everything on the line. I don't know what else you can really take from that game last night, to hold you over till tomorrow night.

I keep waiting for all these shots to stop ringing off the goal post, and missing wide of the net and it never seems to happen. And as good as Anderson has been I could make half those saves and I have never put a hockey mask on. Like was said before this shooting pucks in from the blue line with nobody close to the net to even get a rebound that never happens because its perfectly placed in Andersons lap needs to stop.

Eh it is what it is, and I have been dubious about this team from the start. Its like we all know what we have seen with the injuries and inconsistent play wont get it done.

Might actually be lucky they even got to the conference finals with this group.

Win the next one and it's a 3 games series with two at home.

But you gotta play the next one like it's Game 7!

Bob Grove @bobgrove91
Malkin's first penalty tonight at end of second period made him Pens' all-time leader in playoff penalty minutes. Now at 181.

So we got that going for us

The Pens have generated some offensive pressure. The quality of shots are just horrible. Guentzel has gotten some great chances. Kessel had a shot yesterday where the puck just got away.

Most of the damage is self inflicted really. Ottawa was opportunistic on the Pens failure to clear pucks. It's still anybody's series.

Fleury should get the start. If he gives up two quick goals pull him. He should have been pulled when it was 3-0, not that it would have mattered...
One thing this team showed is a lot of heart and the ability to bounce back. Problem is i don't know if they have enough horses left at this point.
They didn't really play bad after the first period, but 1 goal well not get it done.
Guentzel may be one of the best players right now, but he is snake bit this series. He has hit 3-4 posts already.

It's playoff hockey, cannot expect stuff to come easy.
The young ones want it, and I hope that attitude trickles in. Missing Hornqvist showed last night.
A couple guys like Archibald should also bolster that extra thump. I had high hopes on Streit, but he was an anchor last night

Agreed. Guentzel has had bad puck luck all series. Those are 5 goals that could really change the momentum for the Pens
