2016-2017 Pens----Still with 100% more Kessel

I skimmed through the game awhile ago and at the end of the game they were pissed with the cheap shots and BS from the Preds. Maybe that is what this team needs to get back on track. I think the Preds might have made a mistake with all the talking at the end of the game.

Not panic mode here either. I expected Nashville to win with the city hosting it's first SCF game. Pecker had a decent game but still gives up plenty of net on rebounds.

The way I see it is Nashville came in with a panicked must win mentality. A veteran team like the Pens will not panic and accept the loss, although ugly and bounce back. The boys are going back to Nashville 3-1. When they played in their little spurts Nashville had a hard time keeping up --- a positive indicator of what the Pens are capable of. Credit to the fans. Gave the bro in-law a hard time last night in good fun, but definitely enjoying the get togethers.

And Spike, all is forgiven my friend. It was a Saturday. Enjoy your beers. Sober up Monday though. We need any good superstitious things in our favor
 
I'm not going to call the fourth game. I seriously doubt what the Pens are putting in the ice this post season. Can they do it? Easily. Will they? I guess we'll find out.
 
What I'm hoping is that the Pens aren't just totally exhausted. At this point, they could be. If so, they may be in trouble. They seem to have a few couple minutes bursts a game but other than that, they seem to be a step behind. That and they need to get in the zone on the power play and then shoot the ******* puck. You can't score if you don't shoot the puck. Kessel, I hope you are reading this!
 
Kessel took some shots. The whole team is working with a "pass it until an easy shot open up" approach. The problem is that those shots are rare, we have score in this series with luck shots, and it gives the Preds time to steal the bisquit.

It's hard to deny that the Preds are out playing us on an over-all basis. We had some luck, some good opportunities, and a better goalie so far. That's been it. We can and should be out-playing them.
 
The Pens have proved time after time, in each series, that the home team will have a huge factor in determining the win. Playing in Nashville is the biggest test. Game 4 will tell where this series is going. The Pens still lead the series. If the go back to the basics and get shots on the net, they will go in. They are making one or two too many passes and Nashville has easy pickings. They need to play a defensive style first to help MM out then counter on the offense. When the Pens tighten up their D is when they are best. I expect them to come out tomorrow with a workman-like attitude.
 
We did a good job in game 2 getting past their blue line. Last night, it was a brick wall most of the night and especially on the power play. We had 2 power plays in a row where we never established ourselves in their zone at all, let alone get a shot off. That just can't happen.
 
Pens will be alright. Championships are hard to win. This stuff is never easy.

Need some tweaks. Shooting more is a start. On the power plays Nashville is super aggressive on killing it. They need to stay spaced and pass where the defender left his zone. We are to bunched trying 5 foot passes. Need point to point and let them skate themselves out of position.
 
I don't understand why nba gives 3-4 days rest between games and i think free finals started a week after the last game while most hockey games are only 1 day inbetween
 
We were always going to have to win this series in spite of our D. Our skill players scoring make or break it against these guys. We need another big game from Sid/Malkin.

Play to our strengths and let the chips fall.

he was seen on crutches today, did not practice. Doubt he will go. Will have to rely on Rowney again at center.
 
Rowney played pretty well. We need Sid to step up big in the rest of the series. He has been pretty quiet. No goals and 3 assists in 3 games. He needs to start scoring.
 
Sid, Geno and Phil needs to let loose. They have two games to get this done. They have to break the barrier on the PP and shoot the puck!

Even going back through last years playoffs it seems as though they lay an egg at least once each series as far I as can remember. Hopefully this was the one and only this series. I think Murray will play better tonight too.

This whole team has a pass first mentality. They need a shoot first second and third mentality.
