2016-2017 Pens----Still with 100% more Kessel

I am going to make 2 predictions.

Whoever wins the East will win the Stanley Cup.

If the Pens get out of the 2nd round, they will be that team.

Every team in the West sucks. All of them.

The Pens, Caps or Leafs are going to win it this year. Whichever of those teams get out of the 2nd round. Write that down. You heard it here.

I'm not gonna count out Nashville in the west

Nashville doesn't scare me. Why do they scare you? Because they are about to sweep the Hawks? Whoop woo. The Hawks beat up on a ****** Western Conference. The Hawks are out of gas. Blew their wad getting the top seed in the west. Pens would run Nashville out of the building 4 straight games.

I think the Pens have a good chance at repeating. Toronto would be the easier route. Washington isn't as physical as CBJ, could outskate them. Ottawa may look for a shot on Sid over the hit on Methot. NYR/Montreal are used up hookers. Not worried.

The west. Nashville is fast. St. Louis is pretty tough.
If the Pens can and should get behind Pekker Weiner then yeah. Nashville looks pretty good this season out of the west.

St. Louis on the other hand is a faster skating version of CBJ. Tarasenko can kick it up too

This is how I see it. Ottawa and Boston are in a contest to see who can blow the most leads and lose games.

Rangers and Habs are pretending that they have a super awesome goaltending matchup with two washed up over the hill goalies. If one team decides to try and use their speed and stop playing cautious, they will take this series. Didn't the Habs watch the playoff film from last year? Go high glove. It is a sure thing.

Minnesota REALLY backed into the playoffs, and while STL has some talent, there is nothing they do that worries me. They aren't awesome defensively, they aren't great on offense. Their goalie looks hot, but Minnesota has been average for a while. So is he really hot? I don't think so.

Edmonton, SJ and Anaheim are all so flawed that they are going to wear themselves out trying to beat each other.

Washington and Toronto are the 2 teams that worry me. The Caps can beat any team left. They are deep, pretty fast and can score. They have a vezina finalist in the net.

The Leafs are the one team that may be faster than the Pens. If the catch lightning in a bottle, who knows?

And I will say, whoever wins the east, and that winner will be Pittsburgh, Washington or Toronto, will win the Stanley Cup. This is the weakest the West has been in forever. It is why Nashville looks so good.

Man 51 shots on goal? MAF certainly did his part...rest up...next!

I don't understand what Montreal's problem is. The Rangers have the same ****** defense that the Pens *** raped four out of five games last year. Gimme a break. Stop trying to be so cautious and clever. Skate and shoot.

Is anyone watching this? These teams both suck. Bad.

Just to give you some idea of what the Pens just did, they managed to put up 4.2 goals a game against a goalie who is not only a Vezina finalist, but during the regular season.......

Was 1st in the NHL in SV%
Was 2nd in the NHL in GAA
Was 3rd in the NHL in wins
Was 4th in the NHL in S/O

Let that sink in. 4.2 goals a game.

Good write up. I'm not scared of any of the remaining teams. Toronto has the speed, but the ammo is not there. I think the Pens can curb stomp a new one into Wash. Wash has big names on paper, but the Pens are a better passing team than Toronto. Montreal and NYR are flat out horrible and will possibly be a 4-1 series or even a sweep. Within that I feel the Pens can sweep through the eastern final. Nashville is a lot better than the sharks team the Pens faced in the final imo. Nashville has speed, decent goaltending, and decent puck movement. My big thing is, I would like to see a Pens/Preds matchup for the Stanley Cup cause my wife's brother in-law is a Preds fan. We're good friends too, so it would be a fun get together. Here's hoping and let's repeat. The Pens got through the toughest part in CBJ. On to the next one

What a great series! Pens have the best coach in the league. Unbelievable what they have done with all the injuries.

Bylsma got fired last night.

Don't be so hard on Crosby guys, he'll be back soon. Until then we have Malkin setting a personal record for the most points in a playoff series with 11. We also have MAF hitting the most playoff wins in franchise history with 57!

Sid and the kids played decent in the series. Crosby's OT set up on easter sunday was legit as it gets. Still gets a decent grade from me

The last two games were bad for Crosby and the Kids. IMHO Sheary is the main problem on that line although Sid's play at times is baffling. Look at what he does on the goal the jackets scored to make it 4-2 in game 4. He stops skating at the blue line when a man is breaking into his zone, then he stands next to the net and watches that same dude (I think) score when his goalie is WAY out of position. Head scratcher for sure.

But hey, if you would have told me that Sid's line would have been passengers for 2 or 3 games and the Pens would still win the series in 5 games, I would have laughed. On to the next.

You almost wander if Sheary isn't banged up or something. Seen Horny out there with Sid and Guentzel in the 3rd. I would keep it that way for the start of the Caps series and see how it goes.

They need to rest up and work on some things because Flower getting peppered with 50 shots will NOT be a good thing in round 2.

Caps wont miss the net like Columbus did.

I'm with you MTC. Some people get upset when Crosby doesn't score, though I did notice him on the ice for a lot of goals against. The one that hit the door wasn't his fault, but he spent his time lobbying, instead of getting back in the play.

Really? Have you seen spray and pray Ovi play hockey??

that was one physical series for the Pens. I don't know if another team in the East can play like that with the Pens and still keep up. WASH is still the team to beat unless TOR does the unthinkable. OTT could be tough. They seem to have the Pens' number this year, but WASH is the road block. They are stacked from top to bottom. Will be a great series, no matter who the B&G plays. I would like to get Hagelin back.
