2016 Pirates thread

I expect more. Polanco in his 2nd year, Marte with more experience, Cole with more experience, Kang in his 2nd year once he returns. The worst 1st baseman in the history of baseball is gone. Tallion, Glasnow, and Josh Bell on the way. I expect huge things again this year. As far as losing Walker, I am fairly confident that Josh Harrison will have a better year at 2B both offensively and defensively than Walker's average year.

I think Marte is gonna be a good player. Harrison? I hope you're right

Good, hard fought win in extras for the battlin' Bucs. McCutchen came alive tonight....don't think he's going to have a bad April like last year. Don't know which I like to see better, the Bucs being 2-0 or the Cards being 0-2.

Good game, a little bit of everything- Pirates bullpen strikes out the side then they win it in the bottom of the 11th

Cards broadcast sucks

I still don't like the Walker for Niese trade. Walker had a homer and won the game yesterday for the Mets. Niese had his typical outing for the Bucco's yesterday. Gave up lots of hits and a homer. Mrs. hook is a Met fan and we've been watching them for years. Even she say's Niese just isn't that good and it was a good trade for the Mets. With Niese and Locke as 2 of our starters, the outfield stands will see a lot of baseballs.

So far tonight, Nicasio is looking solid. Six innings, two hits, one a homer, and no walks. Keep up the good work, someone's gotta make up for Locke.

The future is bright for Pirates. All 5 starting pitchers at Indy, are considered rotation possibilities at some point.
That has rarely happened. Two of them are considered potential aces.

a couple of his runs were on the D....meh....

3 from the Cards is still 3 from the Cards, 1st 3-0 start since '73.

at home....pretty sweet.

How about Starling Marte with the top of the 9th Gland Slam to some from behind on the Reds? Thank you Direct TV, my cable went out and I missed the comeback. It was 5-2 Reds when it went down and it came back on during the post game show when they were raving about what a fantastic game it was. ********.

Holy **** did anyone see the Giants / Dodgers highlights form last night? Dodgers pitcher has a no hitter going in the 8th inning and they are winning 2-0. The guy walks a batter so the Dodgers new manager ******* pulls him from the game in the middle of a no hitter. The next batter hits a 2 run homer off the relief pitcher to tie the game and they ended up losing in extra innings. Of all the dumb **** I have ever seen in baseball that has to rank pretty damn high.

It's the dude's first game. He's 2 years removed from TJ surgery. Pulling him at 100 pitches when he's obviously tired is the right move. Johan Santana threw 134 pitches in his no-hitter coming off of a shoulder surgery and within a month in a half was on the DL and never pitched at the major league level again. No hitters aren't that important.

The heck with them.....Let the ex-Brooklyn baseball club implode!

How bout them Bucco's!!

I got a feelin this might be an epic next year for Pittsburgh sports teams!

I turned the game off in the 7th - what did I miss?

Nice to see the Pirates piling up division wins in April. These will be huge as we get later in the season and they don't have to play catch up as they did last season. Hope they can keep the hot start to the season going for awhile.

I spent last weekend with my friends from The Loo. It was absolutely fantastic to just look at them and say "**** St Louis". ******* Patriots of baseball.

Some things never change...can't beat the bad teams in our division...14 runners LOB.

I may have to reexamine my prediction that Josh Harrison will be as good as Neil Walker this season. Neil is off to a red hot start and Josh....well...he is having some ugly at bats so far.

It's a small sample size but Walker is hitting .214 so far and Harrison .281

Started 4 and 0, now 5 and 6. Seems middle relief is the weak link so far. Now in last place. This may be a long season ... hopefully things settle down.
