2018-19 Penguins and NHL Offseason

I suppose a goalie gets a horseshoe stuck on his arse now and then. Still a point. It's 2 if not for giving up a shortie. That's how I see it.......next

Murray just isn't himself Too many soft goals, IMO.

I thought for sure the Pens would score when they had the 4 on 3 advantage. Their goalie was just too good. The Islanders look like a pretty good team but I do think the Pens were playing tight the past two games.

Do they normally have Letang in the shootout? I figured it would be Jake or Kessel.

I wandered about that too. I thought for sure it would be Kessel.

Kessel had two or three point blank shots on goal.
Griess stuffed him and Crosby on breakaways thursday night.

Their goalie was just fire

Getting shutout so far this evening 3-0. Doesn't look good.

Nothing is materializing at all.
Hornqvist is trying to kickstart something with some big hits.

Other than that the guys cannot look in passes to save their life today

To the big guy upstairs,

Give us a couple lucky bounces.

Can't blame Murray for this loss, but he isn't helping. There is something wrong with him right now. He just never looked right after the unexplained until later absence last season.

That, and the lack of something - shooting? Tape to tape passes? Idk. Smells like poo poo

TOR schooled the Pens w/o Mathews, at PPG. The Islanders and Habs have caught up to the Pens, as well. The Pens looked like they were just skating around in circles, trying their fancy passing and the Leafs were right on it. Give the Pens no space and speed and they have no answer for it. Besides two posts, the Pens had no real scoring chances. NJD will be just as tough. Taylor Hall seems to give the Pens fits.

Jack Johnson flat out sucks at this point. He has provided almost no offense and we sure didn't bring him here for his stellar defensive play. He's a -7 averaging around 19 minutes a game. In front of the net, he is awful. He likes to push players over Murray. Murray doesn't do well with contact and Johnson isn't making it easier.Even though he is being paid like a #3 defenseman I would sit him. Ruh isn't much better but when he is paired with Johnson, I feel the impending doom.

Murray needs a sports psychologist, His fear of contact shows every single time he gets a bump. His stats are awful. DeSmith is the hotter hand and I think I would try to ride that for as long as it lasts.

Sully will get the ship righted. There is so much talent. I'm going Monday and am hoping for a spirited game. Thankfully no one is setting the Metro on fire.

Since Letang sustained that lower body ding last week, the defense has regressed to last season form.

Sid is once in a lifetime player, but he should not be immune to criticism about last nights performance.
He was trying to make fancy passes all game.

Hoping the team regains their form from a couple weeks ago.
NJ has been on a losing streak and will be hungry for a win.

The craps on Wednesday only makes the week that more tough

We'll see how it goes tonight. Should be some motivation to not go 4 in a row with out a win.

4-1.
The Pens are frustrated. Hornqvist, all considered is trying to spark something, but he's taking dumb penalties

Yeah, I think that's a wrap for this evening.

Terrible play by the pens. Not sure what's happened the past few games but it isn't good. Maybe they thought they were better than what they are?

Sullivan jumbled the lines in the 3rd. Nothing clicked at all.

Our 3rd and 4th lines are not as energetic in years past.
I'm still confident in the bench boss and the GM righting the ship

We suck, we'll still make the playoff's and have another run at the cup.

We stayed until the bloody end. So many leave early. Spoiled fans

Jack Johnson has no hands. He cannot catch a pass cleanly. He is the weakest link. There was talent there 5-6 years ago. I hope we see a glimmer soon.

On a positive. I never sit in the single attack area. Got a steal on tickets in 113 B, so tonight we did. Had a chance to watch Letang close up. It reminded me what a phenomenal athlete he is. Yes, he still make some boneheaded passes but the guy doesn't quit.

We have tickets to the Coyotes on Saturday. I need to see a winner. Considering the Craps game Wednesday but tickets are high and I really don't like the venue.

They'll find it Wednesday night

I'll say it again - there's something wrong with Murray, not calling for him being cut, but the gears are not engaged. Love to see some intervention here.

Fleury had a psychologist from time to time. You have to be half crazy to want to stop 100 MPH blocks of vulcanized rubber. Murray's issues are not physical, all mental. It doesn't help when Johnson pushes players into and over him every game. Murray played better with MAF here. MAF had been there and done that and I really believe he had that positive effect with Murray. Some lead some follow.
