2018-19 Penguins and NHL Offseason

Going to a game in 2 weeks. Hopefully they aren't falling into another slump.

Well that didn't turn out well. 5-2. 24 whole shots and none of the big guns did a thing. Letang did have a nice goal. Not a good road trip so far 1-2

I thought the Pens did ok in the 1st.
2nd period got ugly real quick.

They shut down Sid's line.
Roughed up Malkin.

Neutralized any grit our bottom lines had.
We had chances in spurts. But for the most part, SJ skated circles around us
 
San Jose is like an All-Star team. Damn, they are loaded. They made the Pens look foolish for most part of the game. The first period was OK, but SJ let loose and dominated the rest of the game. Rather one of the uglier losses. Gave up around midnight, as I saw enough.

Horny and Schultz. Malkin and Phil have been invisible turnover machines. Add Brassard's sucking and they need a revamping. The All-Star break should help them, but damn, they were out-classed last night and it was eye-opening.
 
They need Horny and ZAR.
I prefer Riikola over Oleksiak too.
Better shot from the perimeter imo.

ZAR opens up a lot for Cullen and Sheahan.
Same with Hornqvist for Malkin and Simon

ZAR was skating, which is a good sign. Horny was, as well. Hopefully, we will see them after the All-Star Break. We need them for the 2nd half of the season.

Neither have I. GMJR is throwing anything at the wall to see what sticks. Rumors that Brassard could be dealt to Columbus. I'd like to see that return. Wayne Simmonds is on the trading block. I'd love to have him as a rental, possible signee. He's the combo of grit and scoring they need.

I really hated that guy though... But, he is probably one of those players you love when he is on your team.
 
Blandisi is a head scratcher. Other than picking up a winger for a center I haven't a clue.


Fun reading all the rumors. Brassard to Dallas, CBJ, Winnipeg ? All I know is GMJR can't screw up this time. This team can slump right out of the playoff picture with the wrong deals. I'll trust him but he needs to do a better job than he did last year.

Ferland from Carolina has been mentioned in some of the rumor mills,. I'd be happy with this depending on the give. Ferland will be looking for bigger money next year and that's something the Pens don't have.
 
I look for a defenseman to get moved as well. Rikkola has played well and Schultz will be coming back. That’s 8 guys and moving one of either Johnson or Oleksiak wouldn’t surprise me. Hope it’s Johnson personally. Didn’t like the signing then and still don’t.
 
I would trade Brassard to Buffalo and try to get Sheary back.
