2018-19 Penguins and NHL Offseason

Bang bang Kris mother ******* Letang!!!!

Tanger! Good Job!!

Thanks Tom Hanks! Pens fan in the building.

Glad we got 2 points but Caps shouldn't have gotten a point. Malkin looked like Kessel in the playoffs there and WTF was that with waving off the last cap goal and then calling it a good goal on the ice. BS

That wave off was lame. The call was not a goal on the ice.

That being said, I'm exhausted after watching that game!

Something tells me the Pens are going the Steelers route this season. Got to score a lot of goals because Murray and the D are going to be iffy. Run & Gun! They certainly can score, but they have to tighten up the defense and TOs. The Craps are going to be tough again. The East is stacked: TOR, TB, PHI, NJ, PIT, WASH.

I think the Pens will tighten up defensively as the season goes on.
The guys look plenty fast and healthy. Oleksiak, Johnson and Dumo provide a bit of needed muscle.

I'm not worried about the caps. I think they are gonna stall mid season.
Oshie, Orlov and Kuztnetzov will carry that team, but I don't think very far.

Pitt/Philly will be even.
My opinion. This season between these two will be ugly.

TB. I'm not too sure of. I think they regress.

NJ/Tor - Now those two are gonna be some powerhouses.
Shero and Hynes have the physical Pens hockey of the late 2000's-early 2010's.

Difference between NJ and our guys of Bylsma past is maturity. But I think the Devils are gonna be a real solid threat.
Toronot has that experienced youth and the pressure is off of Matthews. A lot of veteran leadership with Tavares and Marleau.

Gonna be a fun season.

Is it just me or does Ovie not really do anything other than stand off to the side of the goalie and wait until someone feeds him the puck.

I don't see him win faceoffs, I don't see him dart in and out of traffic dragging the puck with him. He just has a hell of a slap shot...in my opinion

lol, are you just noticing this? He is the King Cherry Picker. He was a lot better playing both ends of the ice last year, but he really doesn't move from His Spot.

Yep I don't watch much hockey until the playoffs. I can't afford to subscribe to cable or satellite so its pretty rare when I can watch the Pens on TV. I used to be able to pick up a free radio feed off the net but it isn't free anymore

Gotcha! Well, you saw a wild one tonight. Cable is crazy expensive, so I know what you are talking about.

What a rollercoaster of a game ! Glad we came out on top. We had a great time and sat around some really solid Pens fans. Lots of things need fixed but a win is a win. Against the Craps is even better.

Plenty of other ways to watch the Pens for free.

Feel a lot better about this team this year. Never thought they stood much of a chance last year with all the experience they got rid of.

Just hope Murray gets back on track.

I'm not going to lie, he worries me. He made some good saves last night, but a few softies. It's very early, but I want to see improvement.

Nice low scoring footba... I mean hockey game. Big W 2 works for me.

To get anywhere in the east come playoff time he will have to be the Murray of old. Got lots of time to get it together thankfully.

His glove hand is horrible. Everyone figured it out last year and it hasn't gotten better. Don't get me wrong, he did have a few brilliant moments last night. His lapses seem to come after there has been some commotion in the front of the net. Letang was lousy in the first period, pretty solid after. Maata wasn't horrible but got beat twice. When you have 3 goals come from defensemen and D assist on the others. The scheme has changed at least for the Craps. We'll see if continues Saturday night.

This was far and away the best Letang has played since the injury. And not just the two goals, but his overall game looked LIGHTYEARS better than last season. Maatta still freaking sucks though, he's got to go. I wouldn't be surprised if Brassard and/or Kessel are used for trade bait later in the season. Preferably to get some more defensive help.
I also think Murray will be okay. It was game one, and both goalies were off their game.

With the emergence of Ricolla(sp?), if he improves and is solid, maybe the can move Maatta. He's a young Dman, but is a weak link. Maybe a change of scenery would do him good. Like Murray, there's a lot of hockey to be played.

Great win over the champs, starting the season off with a bang. I like that the offense showed up. Have to score when playing Washington. I'm concerned about the defense, Murray, and the fact this team continues to lose leads in the third period against good teams. When will it end?
