2018-19 Penguins and NHL Offseason

So basically we traded Hags for this guy and Hags is now in DC....Just fn great

Is it just me, or has Rutherford been pretty bad since the second Cup?

I saw Phil's name mentioned. He's a guy that is definitely better to trade a year too early than a year too late.

Another so called "pedigree" trade. Gudbranson was the 3rd overall pick in 2010. Since then he has never really played in even close to his draft status. Florida gave a better contract because he had one good season in 2014. He is is big, can fight but really hasn't. He did have a fight/wrestling match with Tom Wilson a year or two ago and held his own.

He isn't going to score, he has few assists and his advanced stats are horrible. Today his parting comments to Canuck Fans was " Sorry I wasn't better".

I'll give him a chance because sometimes change helps. If he's paired with Johnson , I may just hang myself.

I don't see this team making the playoffs with the injuries and playing mediocre hockey. There will have to be changes in the off-season to get this team back on track. If Hornqvist, Kessel and Malkin can't get it going with a Swiss Cheese-style Matt Murray, the rest of the season is going to be frustrating.

Even if they do make the playoffs as a second wild card. Why bother, there is no prayer beyond that. I think GMJR is delusional if he thinks this team at it's current level of play can do better than that. A good GM would have looked at this realistically and unloaded at the deadline. The only positive is the #1 pick is still there.

The only hope is that somehow, someway by a miracle Murray finds his game. I think we're screwed.

We're already screwed. WTF is Rutherford doing? Gudbranson? What a horrible trade. I'd rather called up a D guy or brought in a guy off the street. Now they owe money for two years on two worthless Ds. Johnson and Gudbranson are both owed money for two more years. Horrible horrible trade.

Pardon me for holding on to a slight glimmer of hope. I don't think I really put much of a positive spin on this.

I didn't mean that you did. Sorry if it came across that way. I'm just pissed at how the past year has gone. I'm pissed that the team had everything it needed for a 3rd straight cup with Cole and Reeves. They traded them for **** and now have a ******* statue in Gudbranson. Hell if Cole and Reeves don't fit sully's "system" then how in the hell is Gudbranson? I'm just venting....

I admire your optimism, but this team's window is on life support. It seems like we are living in Carolina Hurricanes post-Cup unraveling part 2. GMJR did great things to get them a Cup and then dismantled the team into dust. Kind of like what we have been seeing the last two seasons here. To think they just extended his contract, too. Not impressed.

Bringing that clown in was a panic move. Seems Dumo and Letang are gonna be out a while if they are bringing in stiffs like this.

My expectations have dropped to zero on this season. All of the moves from past year until now have the appearance of downgrading the team at key strong point positions.

They can win if and only if Murray turns into Patrick Roy for the rest of the season and playoffs.

I don't think one and done in the playoffs is optimistic. I've said that pretty much all year. As far as GMJR goes. Past history predicts future performance. He won a Cup in Carolina and screwed it beyond all reality. We are lucky we got 2. I wish I could be a fly on the wall between Mario, Sully, GMJR and Guerin. The cupboard is bare of assets, Pens keep trading recent acquisitions out for less. Just wait until draft time when he moves the wrong people for less than their value.

The Cole/Reaves debacle is on Sullivan.
The guy dislikes physical players from some odd reason.

The remaining roster moves. I definitely blame Jimmy.

If the Pens squeek in. It's cause of raw talent we are scraping by.
Other than that. No fit in system, no identity. This season feels done

I can put Cole on Sullivan, but I put Reaves on Rutherford. The Pens just came off a Cup winning with speed and skill and Rutherford went back to the neanderthal thinking. On top of that, he gave up a first-round pick for him. That draft capital could have been used in a package to acquire a much better player or to actually draft a prospect.

The lack of communication between Sullivan and GMJR must be epic. Botterill was either a buffer or simply called the shots.

Just when you think they are playing well we get a stupid turnover behind the net and Murray on his ***.

How do you not get a shot on a PP when your opponent is pushing for offense?

2-0 Pens!! Let's hope they can hold on. Only first period.

I just tuned in. What happened to Rust?

Was their goal denied by goalie interference?

Is the new goon playing tonight?

Goalline interference. Their skates touched in the crease. Was a fortunate call. Rust got hit into the boards and fallen on.
