2018-19 Penguins and NHL Offseason

Is it me or this team jelling at the right time? McCann is becoming the savior they need to add that spark and scoring. Gudbranson has just enough muscle to stand up for his teammates. When he powerdrove Wilson, I think he secured his place in the Burgh.

They need a handful more of solid solid games. Work on defense.

Trotman hustles and never short changes a shift. I think the hustle is what has saved him from being embarrassed. Good guy, tries hard. Just doesn't have the complete skill set. Murray has made the difference, he has stepped up. My only concern is for how long it lasts. This team will go as far as the goaltending allows.

I have nothing against Trotman. He is what he is. The 7th defenseman. He's doing well, but we do have better defensemen on the mend.

I agree on MM. He's playing well. The second WASH goal was tough, but he's been solid. They need him to continue this play for a few more months.

Sid is on another level. He's playing possessed.

Trotman isn't bad. He turned a puck over to Ovie that had me cursing at the tv.
I can't help but think that when Letang gets back, the Pens will be more dangerous.

Everything looks like these guys are finally clicking
 
Trotman's better than Maatta. Maatta blows, but I agree we need Letang back, and Rust as well. Might be getting hot/healthy at the right time!
 
I don't think Rust has started skating yet. Hopefully sometime real soon. When he comes back the question will be which line ? I like McCann with Sid and Jake, we're seeing some chemistry for the small sample.

Please don't think I'm bashing Trotman. He has done far better than I would have expected. I think he could be developed to a stable 3rd pairing guy. He is a defensive defenseman and they rarely get the credit they deserve. Notice I have stopped my criticism of Johnson ? The depleted D core has done a good job with some big time Murray saves.

I wasn't trying to bash him either. If a Dman goes down, he's a solid option.

You can't break up that first line with Sid. The lines seem to be getting comfortable with the combos that Sully has tinkered with.

I like Maatta, as number 6. Mostly because of experience. With him being out, I want to see which version returns. If he doesn't comeback strong, then sit him. Gonchar has had a couple weeks to work with Riikola. I would hope there is some progress. Hopefully everyone heals and we can get some good looks.
 
Nice first period. Liked the control. Looks like they're trying to control the pace.

Good to know Phil is finding his groove on the PP.
A bit more production on 5v5 and this team is back to being dangerous.
 
Sid, Phil and Guentzel were out for the whole PP. They were the three on the goal. Funny.

DeSmith looks confident. Good game.

This is just a quality game so far. Really looks like they are in charge.
 
The seats are more than half empty at this point, it seems. The looks on the faces of the Sabres players is telling. They just look snake bit.
