2019-20 Penguins and NHL Offseason

Some more thoughts

I wonder if the Kahun trade has to do with his performance bonus ? I don't know what the triggers are but he has a $ 2,850,000 clause. The payment would have hit next year's cap. The same year that Malkin has a $ 5,000,000 signing bonus and Tanev has $1,000,000. As I understand it, you can be over the cap up 7,5% to account for bonus payments. Still a hell of a lot of money.

This team has exceeded my expectations in both directions. Fantastic with Crosby out, disappointing with him back.Looking at the time Bjugstad has been out, you wonder if Crosby came back too soon ?

I can deal with losses, they happen, even losing streaks like this. What I hate is the flaw in Sully's speed system. There is no physical push back. The Pens lose puck battles, lack a consistent net front both offensively and defensively. I'm not looking for Ryan Reaves but I wish Legare and Poulin were 2 years older. I'll be happy to see Marino and Dumo back, get JJ off the first pairing.

This team is a steaming pile of excrement. The trades (which I feared) didn't work out. They knew the problem was defense and toughness and they got neither. Getting older, slower and smaller is not a good idea in today's NHL. This team is just physically weak.

We are one dimensional. Without speed we have nothing. Teams know it.

I missed the game due to a family member going to the ER with stroke symptoms. Turned out to be something else thankfully....

After checking the score in the ER I almost needed to be admitted for a stroke.

I just don't know what the hell happens with this team internally that causes this.

Literally a week ago on top of the standing and being talked about as a possible cup favorite to unable to score goals a beat the worst teams in the league.

Maddening and Mind boggling.

I think Vader said it best. No physical push back. Weak.

I like Sullivan, but the guy is so damn stubborn when it comes to physicality, it’s frustrating to watch the team get pushed around.
I used to hate Tom Wilson, but the older I get, the more I realize the Caps are smart the way they utilize him and they are just a flat out physical team that can play hockey.

The Pens can play hockey but lack any physicality which brought them back from the ashes in the mid 2000’s.
I miss those edgy/gritty Pens teams of yesteryear lol.

I think we have guys who can step up, but end up in Sullivan’s doghouse like Riikola

And the Pens don’t really have speed. They have a couple fast guys, but as a team they are slow. Teams are putting pressure on them, and the Pens are folding under it. Sucks, but did it ever occur to anyone that maybe this team played way over it’s head for a long stretch this season?

I'm hoping speed can be enough. It will take stellar goaltending to hold the fort but we have seen them do it. Adding 2 capable defensemen back into the system will change the dynamics. It might be enough, maybe not. I'll be buying playoff tickets.

I am watching Caps-Wild and Ovechkin has scored twice in the first period. Yeah, he may go a few games without scoring, but the guy doesn’t completely disappear for long stretches the way our “stars” do.

This **** is frustrating. The whole team ***** the bed at the same time? Something is going on. Probably trying to get Sullivan fired because he was mean.

Eh....Pens are in a slump. They’ll get it together soon.

I think the team may have too many offensive diva's that want to do it their way or else. It kinda makes sense seeing how they're playing like *** as a whole.

Just a bad funk right now. I wouldn’t put much thought into it.
It happens to all teams during a stretch. 82 game season, you’re bound to go through a slump here and there.

I hope you're right. I need them to sustain my sports needs into june..haha. I thought I knew what we had going, now it's like wtf. They're becoming the Steelers losing to **** teams.

Well multiple games vs sub .500 teams has me a tad concerned. I suppose I'm critical when I see this roster loaded with offensive superstars doing nothing. They're not rookies. Oh well next game up.

Team is in a funk.
Bad stretch. I’m sure they’re over thinking just as much as the fans. They’ll pull through though

And they aren’t just losing. They are getting embarrassed by ****** teams. It’s like Buffalo laid the blue print, and it’s gone down hill since. I agree they’ll likely get it together. Just hope it’s not too late when they do.

Just read on yahoo sports that Dumo and Marino were both full participants at practice and will be game-time decisions tomorrow. Finally some good news during this dismal slump.

The reason for the slump is obvious. I went to DC to watch the game last week. I have never seen them win in person and the team mojo went to hell starting the day our tickets arrived and obviously my wife and I sitting in the stands was over the top and detrimental to the team to the point of this utter collapse. I washed my Crosby Jersey on Sunday and hopefully with it washed away the bad mojo from DC. I'm sorry I put the team through so much. I expect the turnaround to begin with our next game.

Another sub .500 team this evening. If they get hammered again they have some serious issues going on.

Have to admit I'm nervous about tonight. We'll be there in 217 and the wife and I are 14-3 this year.

Buffalo on Thursday is going to be rough. They played like crap against Buffalo twice this year.

Dumo and Marino are playing tonite per Coach Sullivan. Tanev is out with an illness.

Glad Sid acknowledged he needs to be better. His retarded turnover just ended up in the back of his own net.

This team has an issue. Their first instinct in any situation is to pass. The whole lot of them. Sheary created a turnover right in front of the Sens net and he immediately tries to go the point where a guy is surrounded by three Senators. Why not shoot that? He was all alone n front of the net.

Rust makes it 3-1 on the PP.

Marino is having a great first night back.

Still frustrating watching the overall underachieving going on. Especially during that 4 minute major. Opportunities Missed

That's better....4-1

Yeah the first PP and the double minor were both atrocious. They are still making **** WAY too hard. Make simple plays and shoot the damn puck.
