A source I trust just said.....

Drink, like I mentioned yesterday in another thread. We’re experiencing the perfect storm here.
Incompetent, feckless owner, an unqualified GM who is really a numbers guy and not a talent evaluator, and a very overrated and mediocre head coach. Marry all that up with one of the smallest and underwhelming coaching staffs in the league.
What could go wrong with that?
The franchise refuses to evolve into today’s NFL and is squarely stuck in its past successes.
It all starts with the owner who I’m afraid is a throwback to his grandfather who was a nice man but horrible owner. It was his son Dan who was instrumental in turning things around as most of us know. Idk what the hell the future holds for this franchise but I’m very concerned.

Totally agree here. The first several years, Tomlin benefited from prior established procedures. Dan was still around and contributed to sound thinking.

Then as time passed, Tomlin became more dependent on his decisions as well as Art II having to depend on himself.

Combine the two and you have what we’ve morphed into. A business man that makes money and an egotistical coach given the keys to the Lamborghini.

Salute the nation

I don't get the Khan hate. He has to work with Tomlin, it's part of the dynamic that's always been here. Everyone saying that he's not a talent evaluator, forgets that Andy Weidl is the assistant GM and has a lot to say with talent evaluation... but I'm failing to see where this mess has anything to do with Khan or Weidl? Two solid drafts so far, he can't tell Tomlin WHERE to play the guys he gets him.

He went out and upgraded the ILB room, and then we got hit with a string of season ending injuries that put us in scramble mode. So last offseason, he addresses it again with Queen, but Tomlin and his 2 DL system is the problem.

Last year everyone was all in with the Brandon Ayuik trade, and it didn't happen. This year, he makes the trade, and now he's out of touch.

Yes we are in QB hell, but Colbert and Tomlin created that mess long before Khan took over. Najee and Pickett were Colbert guys, not Khan guys...and they are both gone now. I just don't get the Khan hate...

If you're trying to figure that out (with the cats we have around here) - you'll have better luck drinking the "Gulf of America"...

Exactly. I'm pissed.

Dumb decision - Warren, love his vision and speed; but HE'S NOT A THREE DOWN BACK for the entire season!!! We let a great teammate and good RB go for PEAFUCKINGNUTS!!!!

Steelers are dead last in the league in YPC since Leveon Bell.
Dead Last over the last 6 seasons.
Can't put all the blame on Harris considering the line and the coaching but the facts are
Conner was 4.3 ypc in Pittsburgh
Warren is 4.8 ypc
Najee at 3.9 while durable and a good locker room guy, is never going to be the answer.
6.7 million option was just too steep considering his production and the 2025 RB class.

IMO, Khan will need to trade out of the 1st to help us. I know it's sacrilege, but we need to make up for that pick sent to Scattle and offset taking Jaxson with our first pick - wherever it may be. If we dont take him in the first, we're looking at Quinn Ewers in the 3rd.

Hoping we can trade down in the first and maybe send a 2026 pick along with it. Pick up a 2nd or 3rd.

Fixed that for ya, bruh...

Not defending Clown-lin? Yea, right.

And Clown-lin's "run, run, incomplete/too short of pass" play calling isn't part of the problem? Najee and Clown-lin: equal part failure.

While there is some truth is what you state, Khan has to take some blame for where we are right now, it's not as if he had nothing to do with the current QB situation, what was he doing? Sleeping on the job? The WR position last year was bad enough of a joke, with the never-ending promises of a "real difference maker" being "on its way" that never came to fruition.

So here is what I think is a million dollar question. You give 5 million to Warren. It wouldn't have been much more then that to pick up Harris option. In essence you chose Warren over Harris. So someone explain to me why when the chips were down last year season on line they didn't really go with Warren? What changed in 3 months here.
I’ll put my 2cents here. “When the chips were down last year season on line”. They gave to ball to their #1 RB. A great test to see if they saw anything in him for their future. At the time of the year a big bruising foul weather back is supposed to shine. Let’s see how brightly he shone.

Eagles game…..6 attempts for 14 yards
Ravens game 9-45
KC game. 13-74. ( 45 of those yards were with 3 minutes to go in the game with the Steelers way behind and KC playing in pass mode for Defense) He did sweet **** all for the rest of the game.
Cincinnati. 12-36.
Ravens. 6-17.

Look ,I get it wasn’t all Naj. But c’mon. He was average at best in our system. I thought we wanted to get better not stay the same. He was definitely replaceable. I just don’t get what I’m not seeing. It was high time to move on. Even if he has more success with the Chargers,it just wasn’t happening here.

I'm not sure you really got my point. They knew exactly what Harris was. They never even really had talks with him about another contract. So why not ride Warren down the very stretch when it appeared the team was in a death spiral anyhow. And sane applies to Fields too. At least for playoff game. Why not take a flyer on him. At least have a friggen look.

I knew what you meant...

I read his signing will actually work against us for comp pick calculations

I am not sure Warren was ever close to 100% last year.

Right now per the best prognostication sites we are getting a 3,4,5 and qualify for two 6’s but you are capped at 4 picks. Fields is a 4 but could elevate to a three. We have some room to make signings and not lose much.

I’ve given up a long time ago trying to figure out what our coach thinks. I am assuming he thought that playing who he played gave them the best opportunity to win.

It will be interesting to watch if Najee suddenly turns into the back the Steelers thought they were drafting.

Usually when players leave, with few exceptions, they're pretty much done, but I wonder if that trend is changing.
Insert ProBowl photo of Big Dot here!

And I think that is the biggest problem of about 25 big problems. He's completely myopic about the bigger picture. Now, there was nothing to show that Najee Harris was gonna do much and it was clear pretty much from the time training camp was gonna break that he was gone after the season. So at least give yourself a punchers chance. Same with Fields. There was just no way they were putting up points with Wilson and Harris at that point. Literally none.

Indeed
He was average at best

There is a reason QBs, RBs, TEs and WRs don’t put up numbers in Pittsburgh anymore…also a
Reason OL underperform…I ain’t gonna name
any names…shouldn’t have to
