AB's Punt Return

Who cares? He stomped kick stomped his face like he was starting a '52 Panhead. It was glorious. Ranks up there with Harrison jacking Gardocki.

It was awesome to see, even more awesome to see all the internet memes making fun of it. I don't think it was intentional at all- it was just one of those fluke things.

I love Antonio, he's probably my favorite current player. And I don't think he was intending to kick him in the face. With that said, I think he did intentionally stick his foot out further. I was shocked he wasn't ejected, and honestly, I really wouldn't have complained if he was. If it were the Browns returner doing that to Wing, you know damn well we would've been calling for an ejection.

No, I wouldn't. It was obvious he was trying to hurdle the dude. I've seen plenty of dirty football in my time, if you want to cleat someone, and make it hurt, you do it in the pile, or you just stomp on their ******* hand. It would make no sense to step on their facemask if you wanted to hurt them, for ***** sake, the facemask and the shoulder are damn near armored like ******* plate armor from the knights of old.

Joe

He absolutely did not. Watch the slo mo. He was trying to hurdle and took off way too soon. It was nothing forward momentum.

All I know is when it happened, I said, I don't care if it cost us 15yards. We have another all time play to remember at the Brownie's expense!

Yep. My son and I replayed it a few time, laughing our ***** off. It was awesome.

I'm hearing on the radio and seeing on post game shows a lot of people thinkg AB deliberately kicked Lanning on his punt return. He obviously (Tomlinism) tried to hurdle him. What do you think?

It was plainly obvious it was deliberate. Not sure what Brown was thinking.

There's no doubt he tried to hurdle him. Then, the kickers head was in a position when AB had to do something with his foot as it was coming back down after his leap. His foot had to go somewhere. It did look like AB gave a little extra effort in pushing the kicker down with his foot. What could AB have done? Not real sure. Maybe he could have moved his foot or tried to pull up. But, he would have had to make a move that easily would have put him in jeopardy of injuring himself. It's a tough call.

I know some say it was deliberate. However, do you really think AB jumped in the air, hoping the kickers head would be in a perfect position so he could give him a kick to the head? If you think that, then you truly are stupid. AB tried to jump over the dude and yes, that was deliberate. Then, as I said in my last post, he had to do something with his foot as he was coming back down to the ground. I'm really not sure what else he could have done the way the play turned out without risking serious injury to himself. Again, keep in mind, he was trying to jump over the kicker and he was running a full speed. I think the 15 yard penalty was probably warranted but certainly see no need for any discipline.

He shouldn't have been a showboating fool to begin with, then he wouldn't have to worry about it. Too many idiots on this team. Idiots, washed up vets and draft pick busts - that's what the Steelers are made of.

Geez, you could ruin a wet dream. Take time to enjoy things in life.

He thought the kicker was going low. He tried to jump over him. May not have been the wisest choice, but I wouldn't call it showboating, it's trying not to be tackled.

I'm a glass half-empty type. I suppose I could be positive and say it was a division win, but being that I see no hope of the Steelers even sniffing the playoffs unless the rest of the division ***** the bed, it's hard to enjoy it.

It was clear that he was trying to hurdle him --- or AB wouldn't have been mid-air. But the kicker stood up instead of going lower for the tackle and I think AB got surprised. Being in mid-air, he did what any superman would and simply directed his landing thru the object in his path....if he hadn't hit him square on, he might have been open to injury or fallen awkwardly. Great play, great mid-air decision.

Exactly.

I think he kind of had to quickly extend his foot to clear a suddenly appearing barrier out of his way in the midst of a high speed leap. In this case it was a Brown's head. Split second decision aimed (no pun intended) at self preservation.

I think the 15 yard penalty was probably warranted but certainly see no need for any discipline.

Me either......but the inside of the commish's head is a verry dark and scary place.

Damn, Youtube works fast. This is most honorable!

It's a reflex to push your foot forward like that. Almost like searching for the last step or floor. It's not like he recoiled his leg and went full crane kick on him.

That said they will probably fine him though.

Next up flip flops and soft tissue helmets

where is the IGNORE feature .. . I want to turn off someone -- AB posted this on facebook last night, NO way was that intentional ! ! Still my favorite player !!

This. I think the understandable expectation is that the punter is going to break down and make a dive at his feet/legs, so he tried to hurdle him. But the punter never went forward, just kind of squatted down. Frankly, I think if he stays in that position and AB runs THROUGH him, there's a greater risk of injury if AB catches him under the chin with a knee or something.

Just a dumb attempt at leaping over the punter. Like the announcer said, if he had juked to the left he'da been home free. I'm more disappointed with DHB at that moment. Looks more like a kid skipping home from school than a professional football player who's man got a clean shot at AB..by the way.

Why is it beyond stupid to have him back there? If he cuts it to the left he has a TD. He's one of the best returners in the league period. He's paid millions of dollars, he obviously loves returning kicks, what's the problem? Oh wait he might get hurt, he could get hurt any play he's on the field.

Some people like to point out every little negative thing this team does and we have someone great at what they do, yet we find reasons that sucks or is stupid as well.
Remind me who the other top five receivers that return punts. And why exactly we drafted Archer? Oh yeah for his blocking!!!!!!
