All bullshit & fighting aside, what is final record?

I like how Del has us at 11-5. That way he wins both ways. If we have a strong season, then he was correct in his prediction...Ben + an easy schedule means we were able to overcome the staggering incompetence of Tombert. And if we don't have a strong season, then he's been right about everything he's posted on this site for years.

You know, there was a time when I would look at a schedule like this year's, and say that the only teams that worried me this year would be the Saints, Ravens, and Bengals. Other than that, this year's schedule looks pretty easy with a ton of bad teams (Atlanta, Clowns, Texans, etc.). 12-4 baby, rah rah rah.

Then we developed a habit of losing to bad teams like the Raiders, going 8-8, and fans are asking WTF? Hence my somewhat pessimistic prediction above. I'd like to see this team turn over stones so the arrow is pointing up.

I'm curious as to the losses people are giving us, Id like to know a little as to why & who?

REMEMBER, it is just a crapshoot, before the season starts. As season progresses, maybe a key injury, things change. All for fun as I say.

Given our habit of losing to bad teams, you could just pick any random game on the schedule and say it will be a loss. But if you demand an answer, I can easily see us losing to the Jets, Panthers, Falcons & Titans (all on the road), and the Bucs, Chiefs and Texans at home. The point being I'm tired of seeing the Steelers play down to these lesser teams.

I agree with you about the picking of a random game, but the odds of losing all of them is slim. I too, am sick and tired of playing down to the competition. If we win the ones we are suppose to, life would be good. Inevitably, we stoop, we lose, we say what the hell happened there? Just wish I had a can of "play up to your expectation" I'd send to Pittsburgh, before every game. :)

Once again, I'm just curious as to who you have that we lose to? thank you

I don't go game by game and pick who we may or may not lose to. This is the NFL and we can lose to or beat any team on any given night. The record is based on what I am seeing from the team and what my gut feelings are. Trying to pick each game is futile. Now, I do think we will probably split with the Ratbirds and the Bungholes, if that helps.

10-6 and making noise in the playoffs... Some of our young guys will have the experience that they are lacking now... The Steelers are a work in progress, but, without injuries, I see good things happening.

I had picked us to lose the Chiefs game, but I'm hoping this team remembers last year and puts a stomping on them for laying down the last week. Hey, what can I say, I'm a glass half full kinda fan. I almost said 16-0. The Texans seem to have our number for some reason, and Luck seems to feast on the soft coverage we seem to be in love with.

WELL, some here base everything on ONE game, here is your chance to change your prediction !!!!!!!

I am at 11-5 and will hold that but realize it may be an uphill battle. Factors remain for any team, how much of a factor was the smoke incident?

With everything going this teams way schedule wise, I don't see them losing a ton of games. Seriously, look at the schedule. They have zero long road trips. The best teams they play at home late in the year. They get the Saints at home in Dec. Even after their ****** performance last night I think they go 10-6. Just having Ben, Brown, Blount, Bell and Miller gives them 10 games against this easy *** schedule. Just look at the QBs they face. They only have 3 good QBs to beat all year. They play Brees in Dec. at home, Newton in Carolina and Luck at home. That's about it.

10-6 is my prediction.

6-10

I was thinking another 8 and 8 season. This team needs at least one more set of draft picks in the top third of the draft. It might need two more sets to complete the rebuild if things go well. Tomlins lack of experience has hurt him as a head coach. The last few seasons have gotten him experience but he has missed out on the mentoring from successful coaches that his predecessors had. Hopefully he will be able to develop on his own, if not we will be the new Bengals for the rest of Ben's years and then likely pick the next Ryan Leaf before a new coach arrives.

Typically I pick 10-6 every year but this year I have a good feeling.

12-4

After the debacle against the Iggles, I no longer have a good feeling and will revise my prediction to my usual 10-6. DLB's formerly vaunted defense is going to allow a shitload of points again and The Toddster better figure out a way to put up at least 27 every week if they're going to win some games.

Even with a healthy Ben, the team will most likely finish at 6-10. There just is not enough starting talent nor is there enough quality depth throughout this team. Blame whomever you'd like but I've come to the conclusion its a team effort between Colbert and Tomlin who have drafted poorly for the most part and not brought in much in the way of talented F/A's.
I think that Tomlin who was in a great situation when he took over this team prior to the 2007 season, had a still talented team sprinkled with solid veterans at the starting positions and depth led by a young star QB and all he had to do was essentially keep it going and continue to build around his core guys. There have been some good additions along the way but far, far too many misses at starting positions and at depth.
He and Colbert obviously do not work well together like Cowher and Colbert and that's not to say Cowher didn't have some bad picks, because we know he did. But what Cowher was able to do was build a team with Donahue and Colbert not one but twice. In 1992 when he took over from Noll, he had some pieces in place and continued to build on those pieces.
The team had success throughout the 90's even without a legitimate franchise QB but they continued to win and at least get to several AFCC games and to a SB. Then the ebb tide turned down once again with two losing seasons and a 9-7 season and no playoffs for three seasons, but in the meantime he was building again and the team became premier once again winning the SB in 2005. I know, 2006 8-8 again but was Cowher's mind really on football that season? With personal problems and just an overall disappointing 2006 season, it was time for him to step down.
So in trots the heir apparent out of fricking nowhere and hired for all the wrong reasons. The team, still loaded with talent manages to scrap by and eek into the playoffs only to be embarrassed at home by Jacksonville of all teams. Yes, the team makes two more appearances in the SB and wins one but the talent that was once prominent, is dwindling fast and there's not much in the cupboard to replenish it. In the meantime the Ravens and Bengals continue to add quality players and even the Browns but the Steelers for the most part remain dormant. So now we've come to 2014 8 years after the arrival of the heir apparent and the team doesn't look so hot. Holes everywhere you look and a QB not getting any younger that desperately needs talent around him. What have the team of Tomlin and Colbert provided these last 8 seasons in the way of help? Not very much.

So do not let yourselves get carried away and think this team will be playoff bound because they won't. I'm afraid it gets worse here before it gets better and I think after this season one and possibly both will be gone from the team. If Tomlin manages to squeak by another year but has another non playoff season in 2015, Art II will pull the plug on him. They will do something they hadn't done since 1969 when they fired Bill Austin to hire the Emperor Noll.

I'm thinking 9-7, maybe 10-6 and that's if things go well. The defense across the board just isn't that good, they have to improve in a huge way to avoid another .500 or worse season. The offense has to score 28 or so a game or we are in for a long season.

I thought there would be more changes from people. I picked 11-5 going to stay with that, for better or worse. I'm looking for an entertaining year, hope its good entertainment :)

10-6 is my prediction.

They lost to teams playing Jake Locker, Matt Cassel, Terrell Pryor and Ryan Tannehill at QB last season. I just do not share your confidence in a Tomlin-coached team capitalizing on the obvious QB advantage they'll have most weeks this season.

Until proven otherwise, the running game is a question mark, and it's been well established that Roethlisberger, combined with a subpar rushing attack, equals an average scoring offense. Plus, we still do not know if they've been able to adequately replace Sanders and Cotchery.

The defense is looking like it could be the worst Steelers defense in memory, especially if Worlids fails to have a big year rushing the passer. The 1st team run defense, like last regular season, was gashed throughout the preseason and the secondary seems suspect.

Supposed easy schedule or not, I just do not see how they win more than seven or eight games, unless the o-line and defensive front 7 turn out to be significantly better than expected.

I don't put much stock into pre-season games. They've been experimenting with different pieces on offense like Wheaton and Archer to see what they have. On defense, according to reports, they've played mostly in the nickel to get the players up to speed on it. I don't take much time to evaluate what they are doing schematically in pre-season. I normally just look at individual players.

Yes, I know the Steelers can lose to bad teams. However, Adams was playing LT during their losses to Locker and Cassel last year. I just think that the offense will finally get in gear even if the defense isn't top 5.

9-7.....at best. Our lbs are weak. No pass rush. Running game is poor. Tomlin does not have this team ready....again.

I had my prediction for the entire season earlier but I see the 1st 2 games as very important. Game 1 against Cleveland is a game we should win and I think we must win. If we lose that game, it will be a long season. Game 2 is also very important for this team. If they can beat the Rats, it will be huge for their confidence and will propel them forward. Win the 1st 2 games and the team and the fans will have their swagger back and this team needs to get their swagger back.

8-8 again, but Tomlin is credited for "rallying" the team after the 5-8 start.

And as for losses to the Clowns and Titans ... every year for the past three, Tomlin's team has lost at least one game, and up to three, to a VASTLY inferior opponent.
