Allar, last of 30 to visit Steelers

Here is another piece to this. So they take a qb this year in the third or higher and dump Rudy. Rodgers plays similar, stays healthy and there is very little opportunity for anyone else. Then the 2027 draft is more QB rich.....now what?

I don’t think Aaaa-Ron’s play will merit him commanding the entire season.

I don’t want anything bad to happen to him, but injury at his age is a big possibility. Add in the throwing to the ground instead of being hit will also contribute to his benching.

I think there will be opportunity for the younger guys including to the point of Aaa-Ron not actually signing.

Rudy / Howard starting
Rudy / Howard #2
Allar #3

Could easily be a reality, but also know I wopuldn’t want Rudy the entire season starting.

I'm really getting tired of reading this. Aaron broke his hand and played thru the pain, he got hit plenty on throws to WR's. If he was throwing it into the ground, it's because the play wasn't there (ie a screen that was going no were, or to avoid a penalty because timing was off and OL were getting downfield). He definitely wasn't just dirting balls to avoid hits.

In fact, with the state of the OL, Jones being questionable to start, losing our LG in FA, and the hits he did take, I'm surprised the outlook is him coming back for another year...

He broke his wrist November 16th. Didn't dirt the ball here but airmailed a 3rd down pass to avoid the hit during this miserable game that occurred the week prior.

My point of “dirt” balling was just an example of the bigger picture.

He is older and last year showed his age that cost us plays.

I don’t wish anything bad on him, but it’s inevitable and I think the odds are against him for a full season.

MM is smart enough to know when to say when while my hopes are with the acceptance of that by the player.

Aaa-Ron isn’t even a rostered player.

Think about that.

I doubt Allar lasts until Rd 3.

I’d be for pairing our 2nd and adding a 4th or one of the 3rds, to move up if feels need be.

I feel Allar is very coachable in his foot work to upper body management. Enough so that he could pass Will Howard and actually be the starter.

I also realize MM will ultimately decide the fate of players and pecking order.

Like many here, the “As the World Turns Geriatric Version” is old and meaning-less.

Change is needed.

ADD inj that Aaaa-Ron isn’t even a rostered player.

Yeah but is AA Ron even a rostered player.

😄

I'm okay with drafting Allar because of his tools, but he is the classic: was he born to play QB or made to be one?

The play design was for Rodgers to get the ball out in a second. He led the league in shortest passes last season. Yep. All designed for him not to get hit. I don't need to see that again this season.

Chances are the third is not playing this year. Howard has a better chance. If you end up taking a first next year you pissed that pick away.

The 6th round pick that has had zero NFL snaps, couldn’t make it through camp without winding up on IR and hasn’t had any experience in this offense is instantly in the driver’s seat over a 3rd round pick that has the exact same amount of NFL snaps and the exact same amount of experience in this offense???

Please explain that logic

I get most of us here are high on Howard
I am too
We’ve been hyping him for over a year

But c’mon

There is zero sound logic to that argument.

Of course MM has said nice things about him. Gruden talked him up and the two have history so there was likely a phone call regarding the young man.

But all this Howard is the guy and any new addition is instantly in the back seat/wasted pick status is just completely baseless.

A 3rd rounder and Will would likely result in an actual QB competition

I get this concept baffles many because we haven’t seen one of those around here in decades.

He sure af threw that “fumble” in the ground in the playoffs to brace himself for turf contact

That was a biz decision by a scared old man

That’s the last I saw of Aaron and definitely the last I want to see of the scared old man that needs to be put to pasture

I’m getting really tired of all the love for geriatric mediocrity QBs, doesn’t matter tho, people still gonna pine for that waste of another year.

But, but, but he'll be so great for Will Howard to be around, Will can learn so much from him, blah, blah, blah. He's learing how to be an ego-maniac little ***** right now, that's all Howard is learning from him.
Not sure how anyone that watched us vs playoff teams last season want Rodgers back, it's mind blowing. He's going to be 4 or 5 years OLDER than Ben was when he retired, and people are making a case for bringing him back.

HellA yes, that’s why I’ve been pushing Allar in the 2nd / 3rd, possible move up in 2nd. We need a legitimate QB out of this draft. I know Allar is a risk, but a high ceiling risk worth taking.

Jeepers, this Geriatric ****-sizzle needs to stop.

Rodgers isn’t noticeably any better than a young untested QB on the roster or drafted this year.

Rudy can be the veteran back up / mentor / sleigh leader on a foggy night…….

We need youth / escapability / pocket presence / and more down field passing instead of the 3 yards + / - of the line to gain.

Yes, we need someone that at least has a chance at being the next guy, even if it's only a slight chance, Rodgers has zero chance at being our next franchise qb because of age, it's a waste bringing him back.
