Josh Miller and Shawn Allen talked about writing a book about Steelers bars across the country one night hanging out. They pitched it to the Rooney's who LOVED the idea .. here is the article about the book

http://triblive.com/sports/steelers/6307299-74/miller-steelers-allen#axzz35CWoFvYs

and a link to PRE-order it . Sounds like a win win to me -- a list of documented Steelers Bars across the USA (all 31 NFL Markets) and the stories around their visit .. I ordered my copy this morning !!

Description of the book from the site
In the 1970s and '80s, tens of thousands of Pittsburgh natives moved away and migrated to cities from coast to coast. But they never forgot their allegiance to their favorite black and gold football team. On game days you'll find these avid fans at their local watering holes, in cities big and small, cheering on their "home team."

Who are these loyal die-hard fans... and where are they? Former Steelers punter Josh Miller and "everyday" fan Shawn Allen are about to find out. During the 2013 football season, they will travel all across America to pay game-day visits to 100 bars that have a strong Pittsburgh fan base.

The story of the Great Steelers Country Road Trip will be told in Miller and Allen's upcoming book, Always a Home Game TM. Filled with photographs and interviews, it will take sports fans far and wide into these game day celebrations, and feature former players, their post-Steelers lives and where they are today.

With support from the Pittsburgh Steelers football team and the Steelers Charities, Miller and Allen will be filming, interviewing and handing out souvenirs during every game. Meanwhile, back at sold out Heinz Field, the Jumbotron will show live feeds of their visits with these passionate former Pittsburghers. Time to wave hello to old friends and family back home!

There's one in Houston Dallas and Bradenton fl . Never seen a Dallas bar outside of Dallas lol

There are quite a few Steeler Bars here in Houston.

I know a lot of Cowboy fans here. Most of them are embarrassed to be Cowboy fans. They love thier team...they hate the owner.

There are a few here in JAX...

Now that you've brought back the memories - I'll have to see if I can get an imitation Primanti's done here...

pre-orders are autographed

very cool, Cheryl. Thanks.

I should contact them and let them know the best STEELER bar is in my garage.

My wife and I were interviewed for a book like this a few years back at a HUGE Steelers rally at Harrold's Cave in Cave Creek, AZ. I wonder if this is it.

Looks like we are getting it!

Yep, if you're stuck out here in the desert, Harold's is the place to be. My best friend since high school came out the last time the Steelers played here. Place was packed both inside and on their huge patio. He couldn't believe the turn out. Heinz West, no doubt.

We were out in force. Lots of fun for sure.

Ahhh the Steeler Mafia.... Used to let me in V I P s. Need to get back to a rally when I get time........

It's good stuff. We've had fun with it for sure.

Did anyone pre-order this book? Seems odd that it has been released for close to 2 weeks now and not a word from them.
They are however out promoting it at various events.

I've seen places in FL that have imitation Primanti's sandwiches. They call it the Pittsburgh Special or whatever. If you hike a little ways south there are three real Primanti Brothers in the Ft. Lauderdale area.

I got my copy of the book the other day - still haven't looked through it . It is autographed though -- pretty cool

As my luck always goes it came in the mail today. Should prove to be a handy guide if traveling.

I started reading it last night - Love the note from Mr Rooney on the back cover. And the messages from former players. Looks like it is going to be a quick and fun read.

All you beer drinkers .. it is also a beer guide. Shawn rates all the beers he drinks at these places ..
