Another site presents two photos that say ALL we need to know about the Steelers

The A gap is as wide as the Chiefs logo. And people **** on Najee Harris.
Harris still needs to get vertical with his runs. The guy isn't immune to critique because he's hard working and likable.

I know that we have BIG issues but I'd think one could find any team with those near same photos somewhere along the line. True, you may find way more (qnty) of the STEELERS but ........................

Salute the nation
Probably not in the last game.

While I won't disagree with the notion that rookies are going to rookie and have flaws ... in the presented example the only way he could have gone vertical was to run backwards.

Unrelated to the post I responded to, our coaches (head, O and D) have zero ability to game plan, make adjustments or understand schemes.

On D, our team has no identity. The D switches between zone and man with no real reason. Often getting crushed in the process. I also find it odd we go into conservative D's because we are only down by 7-14 (and a lot of bad zone, which this team either doesn't get or can't play). For the backs, we will let one person get punished regularly without any switch of safety help. We just keep letting one dude get pummeled. I get the weakness on the D line ... but wow. Also, Edmunds should be a hybrid linebacker. We can all hate on him, but he plays differently and better within 5-7 yards of the line. Whether covering, playing the run, tacking technique of otherwise. Feels like the Steelers keep him back at safety most of the time because they want to be right about what they drafted him for.

The O ... holy crap can Canada not call a game and Tomlin just has no f'ing idea to even offer input. This is a crap show from start to finish. It is even worse if we keep it close (i.e. within 14 points) because, as long as we are "close" we don't even sniff adjustments. I don't know what to say here other than the coaching is flat out terrible. And yes, I see a lot of undisciplined crap but that is also at least partially on the coaches. The coaches don't "have the room."

The coaching ... well, crap, you saw my thoughts on D and O above. Add in inept time management, challenge management, wholesale lack of adjustments for at least a half if not the whole game. Crap show. Period.

Now, with all of the above we are still going to finish at or near 500. With the mistakes of a rookie center with a mostly bad line around him. With Alaulu and Tuitt. With tons of injuries. Etc etc. Sure we wouldn't be a Super Bowl team. But imagine if we had a coaching staff that game planned a little, made timely adjustments, timely challenges, put our players in positions to succeed, brought discipline to the team etc.

Wow.
Except its the players that need to be held accountable. There's just not enough talent.
If someone could explain to this novice how coaching would have prevented these D linemen from getting mauled.

well, not substtituting TWO non startging D linemen at the same time.. That would help. Coaching.

I've always prescribed to through the middle philosophy of sport.
Hockey: centre, at least one defenseman, goalie.
Baseball: catcher, Pitcher Centre Field.
Football: Tailback,Qb, Centre, nose/ interior DL., Mack backer, safety.
How could the Steelers succeed with what they got. Impossible

Those are just test scenarios for the coaches to gather Intel. Pretty ******* clever. Just let them open big holes on you. It's a RB speed test. They may perform this test 15-25 times a game.

The OL is also testing LB speed by allowing them through the line. This test is run all game long. The east to west test is always run the same way. It's also so Harris doesn't get too tired having to run through holes for large gains.

The use of any type of running plays utilizing a FB&TE has been deemed too risky for the Steelers

exactly what has been employed aroiund here for years, till circa 2008 ?

This team is an absolute embarrassment to the city and its fan base. It starts with a completely inept coaching staff.

Why is Kendrick Green still on the field? This guy would be a practice squad guard on most other teams and yet, He's the starting Center on the Steelers? Webster, Dawson, Pouncey, ...and we draft this turnstile? Pathetic

Being an offensive minded Coach myself, I'm a huge Matt Canada fan. But what he's done this season is just head scratching. His play designs, play calls, and blocking schemes all scream Randy Fichtner. Is Tomlin dictating the offensive schemes? is it Ben limiting what Canada wants to do? Is Matt Canada in over his head? Something needs to change drastically. Ben is done, Is Canada as well?

That hole in the defensive picture isn't there if Alualu and Tuitt are on the field. Our lack of depth is killing the defense. The Steelers have some VERY important decision s to make in the next two years, as free agency is looking to gut the Steelers.

2022:
Haden, Ju Ju, Ebron, Turner, Edmunds, Finney, Spillane

2023:
Tuitt, Rudolph, Banner, Bush, Sutton, Boswell, Fitzpatrick, Alualu, Wormley, Dionte Johnson

Alualu might be back at some point next year but I doubt Tuitt is. Cutting him prior to June 1st saves something like $9 million. He'll either be traded or cut. He obviously has no desire to be around the team or to play football. His injury was months ago so that isn't even an issue. He just obviously has no interest to be near the team or to play.

one guy being held,, cause for an 8 ft. hole? c'mon man.. I KNOW youre better than that.
Oh heck no Bleed. Ben could have been a RB on that play and gained 10 yards. Its just the fact he was obviously being held and no flag thrown. I’ve seen flags thrown on holds that are minuscule compared to that one.

That first picture has 2 of our guys making out on the ground, 5 red shirts (4 of which are 2+ yards into our backfield) in our backfield, and 2 more at the LOS. But, many here will still find a way to blame Ben or Najee.

The 2nd pic, well, a ******* mack truck could fit through that hole. Draft Davis from GA in the 1st ******* round!
Claypool was supposed to be tge key block on the play … instead he fell and took out his own guy opening the flood gates on that side

Unless tuitt doesn’t want to play he will absolutely be back. While his base pay is 9 million, his cap hit is almost 14 million… the dead cap hit is almost 10… cutting him saves 4 million dollars which isn’t even close to what is costs to get a comparable talent… if he wants to retire thats one thing, but if he is going to play they will not cut him.

Most of these guys will be gone and they won’t even be tough decisions.

Spillane may be back because he’s cheap depth. Maybe they’ll try to bring Haden and JuJu back one cheap one-year deals. Freiermuth and Gentry have the TE spot locked down. Turner and Finney can both go. Edmunds, who knows? He’s not bad, but he’s replaceable.

In 2023, only Fitzpatrick, Johnson, and Boswell are worth returning. No one else special in that group unless you sign them to backup level deals.

I read yesterday cutting him pre-June 1 saves over $9 million. If the PG writer was correct, that or trading him is a no-brainer. Heck, no one even knows if he even wants to come back but if we can get a 3rd or 4th for him, I'm taking it. Tuitt is good but he is not Cam Heyward by any stretch. Tuitt always took plays off and disappeared for large portions of games. If he's back for one more year, great. But, I do not even consider signing him to a 2nd large contract as Cam got. Tuitt is not in the same league.

Tuitt is technically better than heyward.. he is an underrated beast

im going off of sportrac… who is usually dead on

Cutting him in a way that moves money into this year’s cap instead of next year’s is irrelevant now that there is rollover… yeah it hits the books this year, but it just reduces how much rollover we get next season

I mean im a huge fan of heyward and he is borderline HOF material, butvi dont see how anyone can watch both him and tuitt and conclude that tuitt isn’t more talented by a good bit… less durable for sure, but the dude is a monster when healthy

If Tuitt wants to come back and play then you welcome him back with open arms. He is one of the most talented and physically gifted defensive linemen in the NFL. He put up 11 sacks in 2020, which is insane for a guy playing his position.

Nessy was proved to be fake. Created by some guy in the daily mail however I would not rule out such creature as I don’t think dinosaurs are completely extinct. Nessy could be a surviving rare species of the prehistoric variety.

I would not rule out samsquanches either. Ricky, Bubbles and Julian were on the hunt back in the day
I believe in both of them more than I believe in the Steelers playoff hopes

Samsquamch turned out to be Steve French..

The only good thing about that second pic is the penetration by TJ... homing in on the QB like a freaking missile.

Here is the thing. A year off. Not knowing the severity of that injury if it has any residual decline in performance. His mental status does he have the right mindset to return in a balls to the wall approach? Some questions there. For the money the team probably could use a player with less questions. And then there is the decision making process. Do we trust Mutt and Jeff to properly access these questions? Then again we can't trust them to make the right decision on a replacement. So a damned if we do or don't situation.

Bring him in NOW, make it come to a head. Take away his choices, play or retire, if NOT retire we trade yaz. If he is dictating to the team on what he wants to do that is way wrong, the team is who should be dictating. There is that possibility the team is dictating and if that is the case, not very business / football sart.
