You state “it is not your opinion that Tomlin (now clarified to recent years) has had final approval on player personnel“. Or “in fact he has great input and final approval of all player personnel and don’t give a **** what you think….” Ok where is the fact? Who stated this? Where is the link to the person who interviewed and documented Tomlin has final approval of all player personnel. If it’s one of the beat writers name him. I can comprehend quite well, and normally don’t have problems with anyone on the board. Well, Coach is the exception, but he only does his thing to get attention. This last post again all opinions, which some I agree with. Keith Butler was a coach well before Tomlin even was considered HC. Since 2003, he learned the Dick LeBeau defense as LB coach with all those great LBs? Remember them? He waited patiently for the DC and it is my opinion, (I don’t HAVE PROOF…see how it works), but it’s rumored Mr. Rooney promised him he would replace Coach LeBeau when he retired or left. LeBeau didn’t want to retire after the 2014, and coach Buts was getting interests from other clubs for DC roles. LeBeau wasn’t offered a contract for 2015 as Tomlin and Art2 didn’t want to lose someone who knew the scheme for over a dozen years.

I don’t want to have back and forth with you, you’ve been on the board for a while, your comments and responses typically are well opinionated which is great for Justin’s board. You mentioned something on a factual basis that hasnt been documented that I’ve seen, nor does it follow the hierarchy that’s been in place for over 50 years. Look, I agree adjustments are important. I had coaches as well that adjusted, when I coached I adjusted.

But the best coach I ever had would say, and I found myself saying the same thing, "If we don't play better all these adjustments won't matter." The two go hand in hand. And I think it is Tomlin being more flippant to sideline reporters than anything.

Again, these are not defenses of Tomlin or me thinking he should stay. I think it is time to move on. But I think the adjustments argument is weak mainly because we are not in the locker room, we are just speculating.

I've said before that Kevin and Cowher worked so well together with the draft and bringing in FA's. I remember when Jerome became a FA in Pittsburgh and he got a call from Coach Cowher telling him not to do anything that they wanted him back in Pittsburgh. That call didn't come from Kevin meaning Bill had more input than people think at the time. Not suggesting that Colbert didn't but that Cowher had as much input. Notice the FA acquisitions when Cowher and Colbert worked together? Much better wasn't it?
The last several years they've been a train wreck and they have Tomlin's stamp all over them. The TE they signed from the Chargers who was damaged goods, Butterfingers Moncrief, Eric Ebron who was pretty much worthless save for a handful of plays, Joe Haeg, Turnstile Trai Turner, Dwayne Haskins, and there is more. Then the trades: TE Nick Vennet, Joe Shoebert, Vance McDonald, etc.
The time to move on from Tomlin was after the Jacksonville playoff loss and there were those minority owners that felt the same but Rooney intervened.

I absolutely agree with this. This is what I have been saying. These things you stated we can see and identify with clarity. M y point about adjustments is we can't clearly see or identify that as we are not in that locker room.

They aren't making the right decisions from jump street. Everything else is a derivative of that. Tomlin should have to answer for that. With his job, IMO.

Under the current regime what gathered us as STEELERS fans has been slipping to near non-existence................. "the STEELER WAY" It stood for more than what the franchise does but also what it did on the field of play.

We have absolutely NO identity and if any trace of identity be found it would be overall WEAK. Weak would be our identity, weak in play / weak in one on one battle / weak in play calling / weak in coaching / weak in football knowledge / weak in player development / weak in draft & FA evaluations ect. ect. ect.......................

Under Cowher we had something but as his players & coaches left,......... the integrity slipped to this point of character we have now, both player & coach.


It's a wonder why interest has slipped for any including myself.

Good example: I've been pimping the Steelers to sign Mitch Trubisky rather than trade premium draft picks for a Rodgers, Wilson , Carr, or Cousins. Do I think some on here believe that's a bad idea? Sure I do and that's perfectly fine! I don't have any way of knowing that he will be successful here if we sign him but I think based on past performances with a crappy Bears team, two playoffs and a pro bowl, he's worth a shot, plus you don't have to trade for him. That is strictly my opinion and if you or Slash, Drink, Coolie or any of the great posters on this board (minus Coooch) disagree then that is absolutely fine with me. I don't expect everyone to agree with me. Of course Coolie being a Coog and me an Aggie we rarely see eye to eye. I think he's pissed because the Steelers have two Aggies in Dan Moore Jr and Buddy Johnson on the roster and hope to hell for another in Kenyon Green the big OL. Coolie's Coogs currently have zero players on our roster. I had to throw that in for him.

I don’t look through foggy lenses, I have criticisms towards Tomlin just as much as I did towards Cowher. But I know throwing the baby out with the bath water mentality rarely fixes anything unless you start with a different mindset. Not unlike what Dan Rooney did in 68-69. Yes I disagree with you, respectful so, in regards to the HC situation. I don’t disagree changes are needed, OC in particularly. I didn’t like the hire to begin with, but I don’t pretend I can make decisions better than the professional.

Tomlin isn't a baby anymore, though. With early success, he was a promising toddler and pre-schooler. Unfortunately now he's become an average teenager who still needs help with his homework. And disappointing adulthood is just around the corner with another contract extension.
