Are others feeling the same about this team

So watching this team is watching a team that is strictly going through the motions in order to collect a paycheck.
This is not a team but a bunch of players in it for themselves. The culture is bad, real bad.
This is the direct result of a HC whose message has grown stale and not in touch with today’s NFL Add in a horrible, understaffed coaching staff thats cheap and that no one else really wants.
I hear a lot of talk about the Rooney Rule but the rule is to allow for minority candidates to be interviewed which is a good thing but it first does not mean a team must hire someone because they are a minority and it sure doesn’t mean you have to retain a coach if they are a minority.
I do think Art is afraid of perception of looking like a hypocrite if he terminates Tomlin.Everything in todays world is about how one is perceived and Art I think is too concerned about looking foolish.
I can hear it now by the main stream woke media. Steelers terminate coach who never had a losing season, or only one losing season in seventeen.
What they will fail to mention is the steady decline since 2011 and that this HC is very instrumental in player acquisitions through the draft and FA and brings in his friends as coordinators and assistant coaches.

and the worst part or most telling part about this is, is Pickens even after Tomlin talked to him on the sideline, he still acted the same.
Pickens knows Tomlin is all talk. The players don’t fear Tomlin, he’s their buddy. They dance together after wins vs bad teams and no one is held accountable. Everyone wants to play for Tomlin, for all the wrong reasons.

I'm in Maryland this weekend for a power lifting meet. Watched the game with a non steelers fan buddy. I even told him before the game started that he was not going to see the real "insaniti" watch a game, that this year has changed how I watch. Now it's more watching just to watch. It's just not the same for various reasons

I really wish people would drop the Rooney Rule stuff. That thinly veiled makes this about race and takes eyes off of the real issues. Make no mistake about it Coach MT is going to the HOF because Coach Cowher went and their results are essentially the same. You can easily argue that Tomlin's best results were with Cowher’s people but that dog won't hunt with HOF voters.
So keep this about what it is. Tomlin provides a facade of contending which keeps the money flowing but honestly the middle is the worst place to be unless you are talking about 6 or more years at the bottom. The culture of the team needs renewal and an emphasis on offensive minded play calling head coach who is directly responsible for offensive results.
if i were gay i would be hitting you up.

If a player he likes whines to Tomlin, he gets rewarded by them forcing plays to him…

So when DJ tantrums, he will be the first read for the next series and they will force the ball to him a couple times..

If Harris gets mad about carries, he will be featured next series even if Warren is killing them…

I fell asleep last night about 5 minutes after the game. Did not think about it once it was over. Like it was a bad movie you soon forget about.

Tomlin has been hyped and celebrated all of these years for being a slightly better than 500 coach. Being a .500 coach means losing games you should win with some frequency and, albeit more rarely, even sometimes winning games you should lose. This is the typical Tomlin regression to the mean.

No one should be surprised. This is what Tomlin is (and what he is lauded for).

Haha. You know it's the simplest things on this team too. Don't know if anyone noticed but on the initial deep ball throw to Juju his hands and ball hit ground and there was movement. You got about one ok look on broadcast. And that wasn't by accident. Now what wouod happen if that was a Tomlin coached team?

Once the Pats* scored TD #3 I just turned it off. Even when a friend texted me with "hey, they're only down 3 with 11 minutes to go", I continued to watch a movie I found that was much more entertaining. And that's all the NFL is, entertainment.

MT has another year on his contract and I'd be surprised if he isn't back next year.

Yep, I'm right there with everyone else. I don't get emotionally involved in the games anymore, I know the team is going nowhere and I never get excited about anything with the team. Even when we win, we look terrible. We're one of the least exciting teams in football, if TJ isn't making a great play then there's really nothing that happens all game. If we complete a 10 yard pass, I'm amazed at this point. This team and organization is a joke anymore. It's sad to see how far we have fallen.

He will be back next. If contract is renewed I gotta cool jets. This is not healthy.

due to the Rooney Rule, we're not firing Tomlin. Face it. He'll have to have a moment of introspection and hold himself accountable then step down.

which we know he won't do. even though by doing so, any of the football shows would throw big money at him and he'd somehow be doing LESS while getting paid very, very well.
I’m sure he hears the talk that he won everything with Cowher’s team and staff and will stay here as long as necessary to prove he can do it on his own (won’t happen). No one from Cowher’s days are left, either players or staff, this is 100% Shades’ team, and this is as good as it gets.

I fell asleep during the game sometime after the 4th Q started and was not upset about it. I don't get mad anymore it's just whatever. The team minus a few players do not have passion. In some ways i do not blame the players. It is hard to get motivated when they are set up for failure. I hate the constant sideways pitches we rarely have success with them but seem to run them 10x a game. Some of it is blocking issues, but regardless if it is not working don't keep doing it. I know are QBs are not elite, but i think its 70% scheming and 30% QB play. Look at some of the QBs off the street putting up better numbers. I bet if you put them in our offense they would look terrible. People say Kenny hasn't shown anything which is not true. He had looked good in 4th Qs and has not turned the ball over recently. He also had the best preseason i can remember for a QB. He can make the plays it has just not translated to the game which i blame mostly on coaching

The thing that makes me laugh hardest is him standing up there after these games and his answer is they scored on their turnover and we didn't. I really don't think Mike is a dumb coach I think he is a stubborn stuck in his ways outdated coach but not dumb. But if that is what he truly believes that Bailey Zappe and Mac Jones can beat you two years in a row because of stuff like that. Then yeah he is unqualified.

I think hes just a master of deflection. Says the right things to act like he owns it ,, appreciate that, if you will and strives to maintain the standard with the next man up. All while not living in their fears. popcorn.

All the while all it took was some discipline/practice and a decent OC / DC.

The Mike Tomlin Magic 8-Ball of Excuses:
  • "We have to block better."
  • "We have to tackle better."
  • "We didn't take advantage of the turnovers."
  • "We turned the ball over too much."
  • "We needed more splash plays."
The common missing element?? It's never Mike Tomlin's fault. Prepare to take away passes to the middle of the field? Nope. Plan to run motion to get the defense to show man or zone, then find the single coverage and exploit it? Nope. Use play-action passes to hold the LBers and find Pickens or Freiermuth on a slant? Nope. Show overload blitz and drop some into coverage to mess up the opposition's plan? Nope. Use the highly-effective Zombie look with 8 guys on the LOS, creating confusion as to who is blocking who and then drop some into coverage while still sending at least 5 to create pressure? Nope. Run a fake punt? Nope. Go no huddle after converting 3rd and short to take advantage of the opposition's "heavy" defense? Nope.

Never Mike Tomlin's fault. Ever. It's always, "Those crappy players just need to perform my brilliant game plan better."

Like I'm not even enjoying it and frankly just want to see the season end. Even the wins the team looked like hot garbage for half or more of the game. There looks to be no fighting spirit on the team. I despise the coach. Tough for me to turn it off. But I must find a way to take this team less seriously. I am certain I care more than 3/4 of the team.
I constantly read that MT is a great coach and other teams have been worse than the Steelers for years. My feel is that MT is a coach other teams would want, but he is worn out as the Steelers HC. Also the teams who are consistently worse than the Steelers mostly have fans accepting that mediocracy. Steelers fans are ardent vocal supporters of their team, most understand football, and consistent mediocracy is not in our blood. Steelers fans do not want to suffer, and will not accept the way Pirates fans have had to put up with for many years now. Btw I grew up in Brownsville, PA so Steelers is in my blood.

Pickens' unenthusiastic blocking is certainly indicative of a much larger problem.

If Tomlin hasn't completely lost the locker room, he is losing it. I can understand the WR's frustration. This offense is Mickey Mouse, they aren't set up for success and they are getting tired of the **** show. Look at how we feel. Imagine what they are feeling knowing it isn't going to change. I can't believe no one has started bitching in the media.
Although it’s frustrating to see that kind of effort from #14, how can anyone blame him? We’re two weeks removed from one of the more egregious occurrences happening in recent memory. DJ doesn’t follow through what should have been a td catch (Mr dropsies STILL hasn’t found out a way to consistently catch the damn thing, questionable play or not), and follows up with the lamest dick run block attempt I’ve ever seen (even worse than the one Pickens was called out on), while making NO effort on the very same play when Warren fumbled the ball. Meanwhile, you never ONCE see Tomlin say so much as a word to DJ, and gives some garbage answer to the media. Last year, he had a bad couple of plays against Carolina where he was called for taunting 2-3x, and Tomlin did nothing about it. Alllllll the while DJ continues to be force fed the god damn football. Never mind the utter stupidity of throwing deep on 4th and 2, once you saw #18, did anyone really think it was going to be anything but incomplete? Meanwhile, Pickens is running 5 yard pass patterns, and only becoming involved once the games out of reach. Yes, the effort is indefensible, but it’s also a ******* sham the way the coaches only seem to single him out.

We have seen the light with our glued open eyes.

The fact that this team has the record it does is a miracle. we have scored 210 points and given up 250. The only teams to score less this year are the Jets, Raiders, and yes, the bum *** Patriots. I will watch every game, be pissed and deal with the mediocrity that has become the Pittsburgh Steelers franchise. We were lucky as Hell to have that record, now the luck and birthday play/break have run out. Coach cliche hasn't finished under .500 yet. Looking at the rest of the schedule, unfortunately this year may be the one. Then what do the Rooney's do? Tick tock.........

You're right, this team isn't fun to watch and it hasn't been for years. The complete disinterest in playing offense for the simple fact of avoiding turnovers has been terrible. Sure there've been some exciting moments, but this has been an embarrassment and has the team stuck in neutral. Go for and win or take risks and finish 5-12. At least you know where your team is actually at so you can move forward.

He has heen coach of this team for 4 presidential administration's. He won his only championship like 2 months into the Obama admistration and was largely irrelevant through Trump and Biden. The players he coached when the team was relevant are in the Hall of Fame.

If MT is such a great coach wouldn't it make sense to trade him instead of firing him? I mean hell Sean Payton was worth TWO first round draft picks, shouldn't the the greatest mostest awesomest head coach ever be worth twice that much.

Hell if we traded him Art ll could save face getting rid of him, he could tell everyone he needed the draft picks to rebuild these ****** players that was holding Mikey back.

They will NEVER try and trade Tomlin because it would expose them and ruin the narrative of so many fans that think every team out there is just waiting for the day they could have a shot at the greatest coach of all time.

My bet is the shittest team in the nfl wouldn't offer up a second round pick for his sorry ***
