Are we ready to fire Tomlin yet?

I have not bought 1 thing NFL related since the players started kneeling. except Sunday ticket. hope someone other than directtv does it moving forward

No not yet. But we are going to see just how bad Mikey Sunglasses really is without a HOF quarterback. I look for Mikey Sunglasses to either retire or be shown the door from this team within two years.

I hope.

Sucks that most of Ben's career was squandered on the alter of "3 coaches in 60 years" or whatever it was.

Hey, I would have preferred if they got rid of Tomlin. But you are smarter than cheap stuff like that. First of all, would Ben call it squandered?

Secondly, Ben played a big roll in "squandering" things. He didn't exactly light the world on fire in some of those playoff games since and including the Super Bowl against the Packers.

Ben is very talented, but needed good, strong, legit leadership. Tomlin in not that, IMO. I know he and Cowher didn't always get along, but neither did Noll and Bradshaw. Cowher lead him well.

Ben squandered things because he is a maverick, and they tend to take chances. Most of Ben's chances were successes. Some were not. I agree on the playoff games not always being world class, but often in those games he showed his skills amazingly, too. I think that with better leadership he would have done much more. Tomlin is not a leader, IMO.

Imo the title of the story was Tomlin needed Ben not Ben needing Tomlin. Ben had a great career as a Steeler but I have always felt he could have and should have achieved more. From 2011 through 2020 minus the 2019 injury season with a better head coach and coordinators and position coaches, smarter drafting, Ben should have won two more SBs.
Tomlin continues to get a pass and I’ve said it it before, after the embarrassing home playoff loss to Blake Bortles and the Jags in 2018, that’s when they should have cut ties and moved in another direction.
This three coaches mantra in 50 plus years I think is nice and certainly shows patience and consistency but it shouldn’t be something you hang your hat on. If the coach isn’t getting it done then he should be done and you go in another direction. Unless you’ve tempered your expectations that a non losing season is good enough and that’s your new standard. It certainly appears to be the new norm around here.

Did Brett Favre squander his career or the Packers in some way? I think many would say Favre sabotaged himself quite a bit.

See, I have looked at Ben's career somewhat like Favre's. Not sure about leadership. Ben chaffed under his two best OC's, Whiz and Haley. They didn't kiss his ***. Now perhaps Tomlin should have realized that, said tough, if you want to be the QB here this is the way it is.

Ben should have won more, so should have Favre. And absolutely, some of that is on the coaching. But coaches don't throw interceptions. So Ben shares in some of the responsibility for not winning more. It's not a cut and dry situation.

Coaches also can't make a player listen or put in the work. There was a lot of talk during Ben's time (especially early) that he didn't exactly study the opponents much. Ben seemed like the type that lived off of his raw talent and not the type to really study and learn. You can spend extra time with your receivers or working on your accuracy but the truly Elite QB's were cerebral and knew how to pick apart their opponents and expose their weaknesses. This is not something that i think anyone can say Ben was known for, however also not something our coach is known for as well. Tomlin may be one of the worst X's and O's coaches around.

Spot on with your Favre comment though. They were a lot alike.

I have no problem with SBWHCMT if he would just hire competent assistant coaches and actually let them coach.

Then he could concentrate standing on the sidelines looking cool, anticipating when to inappropriately throw the challenge flag.

Nobody wants to work for Tomlin.

The negative connotation of the 3 coaches in forever would be: lazy, complacent, loyal to a fault, not open to change and challenge

There is something to be said for loyalty 100% believe that, but there is also a reason the expression “loyal to a fault” exists…not quite sure where we currently reside but leaning towards it being a fault

The NFL is more rapidly evolving in this century than it did in the last.

If you want to have 3 coaches in 3 generations, those coaches now - more than ever - must be able to adapt.

SWHCMT doesn't adapt. Not even in game.

IF mt cannot turn things around with kenny at qb the tenure relationship he has with Art, Art should change it and replace MT with Flores would be nice to get a new OC hopefully before the draft.
