5:00 " I don't really evaluate Mike on anything other than I'm glad he's our coach." And there verbalized for all to hear is what we already knew: Rooney is perfectly content with mediocrity.
Missi Mathews sets up the whole thing with " 16 million seasons for Mike, never a losing one." Cringe....absolute cringe at what this organization has become since Dan passed.

Here we go beating the dead horse some more. I get we all get it. He isn't leaving until he wants to. Personally I have no problem with it. You and many others do. Why do we keep worrying about that which won't change?

It's just verifying what we suspected about Art 2...not so much Tomlin's situation we all knew he was going nowhere, but to come out and say basically 'This guy gets a free pass no matter what.' shows an incredible lack of leadership. What he should have said was no one is above the law. That= fires remaining lit under peoples a**es.

so why skip over the first part of his comment where he says the #1 thing he looks at in evaluating coach is if the team gets better during the season

oh wait I know....because it doesn't fit the narrative

damn why do people expect hard hitting commentary out of a fluff piece interview with the owner of a team

Shades leaving us the dead horse?

I thought he was merely calling out complacent ownership who have zero intentions of stepping up their game and moving from mediocrity…a once proud franchise just gets another shovel of dirt on the coffin

Of course he doesn’t.

Yeah, because the owner calling out the coach in public is a great way to get better performance.
As a matter of fact, the owner should be calling out players too. Just look at what it's done for the Cowboys ... OH ****! Nevermind.

I hear ya...
Even if he did evaluate him...you know the Rooney family has never been dumb enough to throw their HC or any other staff under the bus publicly..

Im just now wondering what the organizational structure looks like.

Cant see Tomlin reporting to Khan?

Facts and whole truths seem to be a thing of the past.

Just an opinion so don’t get too excited here but I have a gut feeling Tomlin will leave after the 2024 season to take a lucrative gig as a football analyst,
These networks need some new blood and Tomlin would be great in one of these gigs.
Can you imagine all the Tomlinisms spewing out every week? He’d be great at it and most likely very popular.
Could you imagine the contract he would get?
Just my opinion and thoughts on it!

That’s gonna be epic when it happens.

I can see that...but will Tomlin get paid more than the $12 million a year he gets right now?

I think at some point he’ll do like Cowher and realize that TV pays pretty good for a lot less work. My fear is that Shades’ ego will take over and dammit he’s going to stay here as long as it takes to win another Super Bowl. I’m 62 and I don’t have that many years left.

Oh I’ll bet he will! Plus, it’s not a year round job like he has now. These HC’s spend enormous amounts of time away from their families so with a tv gig, affords more time with family.
Tomlin would be like what Madden was to the broadcast booth. If anything Tomlin is very entertaining and I really think could be very successful if that’s what he wants.

Troy Aickman signed for 92.5 million over 5 years. Just enough to put food on the table.
I’m sure the stress and hours are quite a bit less. Have no idea what Tomlin would get,but he would do quite fine.
And you never know.....after a few years of watching him on the boobtube Steelers fans might be screaming for him to comeback 🙂
Tony Romo....10 year’s 180 million

He would become the most sought after NFL commentator on television .....obviously!

Wouldn't it be great to see and listen to him, Brad, and The Chin sitting around the same table on some network pre-game show!
