Art 2 "I Don't really Evaluate Mike on Anything"

who ran the show when Cowher had his mediocre seasons?

the rooney family values stability

so why skip over the first part of his comment where he says the #1 thing he looks at in evaluating coach is if the team gets better during the season

oh wait I know....because it doesn't fit the narrative

damn why do people expect hard hitting commentary out of a fluff piece interview with the owner of a team
But at 5:10 to 5:10.10 he said “the”

I hear ya...
Even if he did evaluate him...you know the Rooney family has never been dumb enough to throw their HC or any other staff under the bus publicly..

Im just now wondering what the organizational structure looks like.

Cant see Tomlin reporting to Khan?

Well, normally the STEELERS will extend with two seasons left. They haven't extended him, and I doubt they plan on it. Could be a little "hot seat" action coming next off season.

But at 5:10 to 5:10.10 he said “the”
I guess that depends on what the meaning of “the” is there…
Is it “denoting one or more people or things already mentioned or assumed to be common knowledge”?
…Or is it more like, “I think Steelers fans are stupid gullible marks so I am going to act all cheap and keep Tomlin around cause it pisses them off… “

I’ve heard it both ways…

As we have disagreed many times lately, I do have to say I agree with you here. I skimmed this article before this thread and the article is more nuanced then the thread leads on. And you are right. it is a fluff piece and what is he really going to say. Not that you would ever care if I think you are right. but for what its worth......

If the reason the team got better during the season is because they faced the weaker part of the schedule, did they really get better?

I don't disagree. But Clearly Watt is a huge difference as well. I think if he plays full season they are a first round knockout in the playoffs.

I can see that...but will Tomlin get paid more than the $12 million a year he gets right now?
Oh I’ll bet he will! Plus, it’s not a year round job like he has now. These HC’s spend enormous amounts of time away from their families so with a tv gig, affords more time with family.
Tomlin would be like what Madden was to the broadcast booth. If anything Tomlin is very entertaining and I really think could be very successful if that’s what he wants.

It sucks when the one thing that you have finally come to terms with is confirmed like this. It's not that I had any delusions of AR3 being anything other than a businessman. But to watch the words fall out of his comfortable with mediocracy mouth, is still a nutpunch.
Million dollars of month for the Standard? Absolutely, never, EVER a losing seson.
fuccccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

you are taking way too much out of a fluff piece interview

He gets evaluated in shades coolness

It's just verifying what we suspected about Art 2...not so much Tomlin's situation we all knew he was going nowhere, but to come out and say basically 'This guy gets a free pass no matter what.' shows an incredible lack of leadership. What he should have said was no one is above the law. That= fires remaining lit under peoples a**es.
I want to work for the Steelers lol

I heard him say CoolieMan was his favorite poster on the Steeler Nation forum

He also said “ DIC has the coolest LUXURY S10 he has ever ridden in” .

Oh yeah for many seasons under Tomlin the team has gotten better over time. Since Cowher's roster turned over his teams have gotten better to the tune of 3-7 in the playoffs.....quite an achievement, quite a narrative when told through the story of " The Emperors New Clothes"

different way of saying that he won a SB because of Cowhers players?

Yeah, because the owner calling out the coach in public is a great way to get better performance.
As a matter of fact, the owner should be calling out players too. Just look at what it's done for the Cowboys ... OH ****! Nevermind.
He doesn't need to call out anybody, just say that in the front office they evaluate ALL the coaching staff. Dan MADE Noll fire assistant coaches in 1988 with the implication that Noll might have to hit the road if he didn't comply...the guy that brought 4 Lombardis home and changed the Steelers forever...even he wasn't above the law....imagine Art laying down the law like that with Mediocre Mikey ©. It's LAUGHABLE!.....literally LOL LAUGHABLE.
