Artie Burns officially a bust

Reminds me of shamarko and that smith guy that got toasted against the pats

Taint, Brady can't beat Burns (Or Shamarko or even Smith) if he's on a stretcher with torn ACLs and MCLs. It's all about whether you're willing to cheat too.

The people that use the term cool shades, and deer in headlights, usually have their heads in the sand...

Wait...what ? I don't use the 'deer in the headlights' moniker

but I don't think " Cool Shades" is derogatory....jus cool !

It's definitely not physical with Burns and that could be a huge problem. He needs to stop looking and leaning into the backfield. Stay with your man and stay where you're supposed to be on the field. Stop trying to make splash plays, let them come to you.

I’ve been waiting for someone to take the fine and end his season/career for ages now. ******* destroy him. Problem solved. Only way to conquer Hitler(Belichick) was to infiltrate his top guys... yes, I associate the patriots with the nazis.

Suh is a dirty player who plays Brady all the time, yet nothing. I don’t get it. Someone, anyone ******* do it.

In the 70's little Tommy would have been destroyed. No cheating needed. Just under those rules of engagement alone. All these guys running **** over the middle would have paid a heavy heavy price of pain. If we didn't knock out little.tommy then some team like the raiders would have.

Just go old school for a few plays. It's not cheating. It's the way it was meant to be.

It's his second year.

Lighten up Francis.

I won't go so far as to label him a bust, but he is not performing at the line right now. As has been said above, hopefully it is a learning curve. I sure would hate to have to start over in the CB department, AGAIN.

Burns and Dupree are capable of doing more. But this much is clear. We can't beat New England with a pass rusher who gives up on plays or a corner who gets confused on which man he has to cover.

Tomlin needs to call both guys out.

In watching NFL Replay last night -- Burns did take terrible angles on tackling and that is coaching. To be fair, its hard to practice tackling in this day/age -- how do you get better at something without the chance to practice it. Tomlin and company better figure it out.

However -- two times he was not the benefit of good officiating and the team suffered: two of Green Bay's TDs came after that phantom hands to the face penalty on 4th down -- and late in the game he was two hand shoved to the ground on what should have been offensive pass interference when he had his man blanketed.

I think Burns is a great physical talent; and I am hardly going to call him a bust. Hayden will be back and can be the top cover man with most difficult assignments, Burns can continue to develop as he was earlier in the year. It'll be fine.

I don't know if ole Durpee gives up on plays as much as he probably runs out of gas when he gets about 10 yards behind the QB....jus sayin'

Chip.

I think his effort is an issue. If Dupree's initial move doesn't work, the guy's motor runs cold. Bud isn't very bright ( football IQ ) either.

Watt is the exact opposite. He never says die, and understand how to be in positon for a play if his initial move does not work.

I'm pretty sure the Secondary got grilled in the film session yesterday. Hopefully it starts translating into results the next 2 weeks, so we're firing on all cylinders vs the Patsterisks.

I agree...he often fires into a spot that either crosses in front of the play or where it just left. Every now and again, he times it right and scores big....jus not often enough yet.

Dupree and Burns have the same problem. Essentially, they are still trying to play football like college players.

Artie Burns was blamed by many for blowing the coverage that led to a 39-yard touchdown catch by Randall Cobb in last week’s 31-28 win over Green Bay. But I’ve been told the player who actually blew the coverage was T.J. Watt, who was supposed to stick with Cobb in that situation. That doesn’t seem to be a great plan, but the Steelers were figuring on the pressure getting to Brett Hundley before Cobb got deep on Watt.

Our secondary needs to get its act together for New England and the playoffs.

Haden and Hilton are excellent. I trust both guys. Sensabaugh who replaced Haden is very suspect. Once Haden comes back, the entire unit will get a boost.

Burns can be good, but his head needs to be in the game and remember his coverage responsibilities. Davis has been better lately, but I think the quality of QB's we have played recently is a reason why. Mitchell a nonfactor, more like a minus. Gay is solid as the 6th man.

Just curious where did you hear that? I think Artie already owned up to it, and I think we were in a cover 3 zone, so Watt wouldn't run with Cobb that would have in man coverage, Watt had the zone under Burns where the TE leaked out into.

Ok you copy and pasted what you wrote, my bad I can't view the entire article, but I think Dale is definitely wrong or misinformed on that one.

From what I had heard/seen on NFL and ESPN, they said Burns was supposed to pick up Cobb at a certain point. Watt isn't supposed to cover the WR all the way.

Dale Lolley reported on DK that it was TJ Watt who was supposed to cover Randall Cobb on the long first quarter TD. Not Burns.

Pretty cut and dry here.

I dont see it myself but Lolley getting info from inside the building trumps Depots breakdown.

I don't know, it's obviously zone coverage, you can tell by the way everyone reacts, so if it's zone, Watt wouldn't be expected to run with anyone, which is why I think he was misinformed or he's thinking of a different play.

if Watt was responsible for Cobb then there's serious issues with the playcalling, hope it's only a Burns' brainfart and not this
