Bad Day for The Steelers

Tough break for the Steelers with Burrow, Jackson, and now Watson in the AFC North. The question now is when they'll join the QB arms race.

Next year if it doesn't work out this year.

I give you Watson and Burrow, but Lamar Jackson is terrible. Frankly, I'd rather have Mitchell Trubisky at $7.1 million per than Lamar Jackson at what is expected to be $30 million per very soon.

Know why the Bungles can afford to spend on the OL and DL? Because Burrow is in his rookie contract. Ben's contract has been a frigging albatross the past five years. Very soon, both the Rats and the Clowns will be burdened with hellacious salary cap hits for the QB.

The QB contracts are rocketing out of control I'd be willing to bet Jackson gets more than $30 million.

$30 million is Carson Wentz and Matt Ryan territory. I would think Jackson will safely get more than $30 million. You have EDGE and WRs pushing $30 million now. The cap hit bracket is shifting.

Yep that RB is going to get paid.

And we will love when it happens as much as their fans will.

So that leads to the next question. How do we define working out? What level of success do we have to have to reach that goal?
Personally good question. Probably would have to be one playoff win I would guess.

More to do with how they view him after a years play.

I for now would lean that they would be looking. And hope to be wrong.

I want Action Jackson's mom to become a world renoun AGENT known for getting the max money possible for her sonny boy.

PLEASE make Lamar the highest paid QB in national football league history, then Joe, then 2nd contract got watson all surpassing each other.

All the while we put up SBs on bargin bin QBs.

Maybe Bargin Bin QBs are Tomlin's nitsch................................

Salute the nation

I would think a winning record and improved offensive play. I don't see a playoff win needed the first year, unless the defense is just that good.

the browns can suck it

watson is a good qb but they gave up too many picks and a ton of cap space to get him

build the defense, solidify the OL, add some WR talent and draft Jones to take over for poor Gunner and Trubisky should be good enough to win enough games

Burrows contract will be coming, and puh-lease sign RB Jackson Baltimore ! He is negotiating his own contract, give him Aaron Rogers money! Browns will **** this up and the locker room will be divided, just my guess.

wait, Steelers lose a problem child, a problem child and a track star... and that's a bad day?

thank the lord JuJu went to go fumble the games away in KC. thank God that ***** is gonna Tiktok dance on someone else's dime.
Deshaun? 2 years removed and might be suspended for the entire season. Oh - and he's a primadonna.

RayRay had some heart and if he had some hands i'd feel like the Steelers couldn't replace him with a sixth round pick.

“OK” QB?
Did you really just type that?
I hate the Clowns as much as the next guy.
But DWat can flat out BALL.
Instantly best QB in our division and Clowns have actual real franchise QB for a decade.
He can flat out pay to get his balls licked maybe.
3 1sts for him? lol.
Burrow is pretty good.

We will agree to disagree

There is one guy clearly better then what they got and a guy who didn't want to be there and has 2 more wins then sexual assault charges. The third is a saw off. Put down the pipe it will be ok.

Here is the other beauty of it. Three first round picks. If anyone thinks even a casual fan couldn't pick qb in the first round for the next three years and hit on something as good as Deshaun Watson they are stupid. Pick em till you get it right.

Who is Watson going to throw to? OBJ and Landry are gone. Peoples-Jones is about all they have at WR, and he is inconsistent at times. Gonna be interesting to see, anyway.

I think you overestimate the supply of QB talent in the average draft and underrate Watson.

The Browns paid a steep price, but it's not hard to foresee scenarios where this works out really well for them over the next 2-3 years.

Beyond that, there's going to be some issues with the lost first round picks, unless they really hit it out of the park with their remaining picks.

Their current roster is pretty solid, with Mayfield holding it back. Watson, if he can stay on the field, is a clear upgrade.

The Browns already traded for Amari Cooper.

To those who say:

"Oh, the Burrow and the Bengals are so good. Steelers should have made a play for Watson, Sherlock!"

Joe Burrow and Ja'Maar Chase - both 1st round picks and the heart of their team - COMBINED are a cap hit of $16.8 million this year. That is how the team can keep them on the roster for five year very affordably and then sign 3 CB's, a DT, TE, etc.

I didn’t want Watson on the Steelers. I wanted him in the NFC, not having to face him twice a year. And I think it’s utter bullshit that we couldn’t get a deal done with a guy that has been a fan-favorite and hard worker since he got here. Especially after coming back last year. Lame.
Have you stopped to think that maybe he didn't want to be here? Knowing the QB situation here vs. playing with Mahomes....hello...

A guys payday is obviously dependent on his production...his future production probably didn't seem too bright to Ju JU with Rudolph or even Trubisky throwing the ball. And also the knowledge that he will never win a ring here....see above.
