Bad Day for The Steelers

The Steelers, 49ers, Ravens, Chiefs, Seahawks, and Patriots/Buccaneers?

I know we all love believing that just the QB wins or loses games, or just the coach wins or loses games, but this is a team sport.
Yes, the QB is the leader.
But he doesn’t do it all himself. He needs an adequate supporting cast.
And besides Hopkins and the other Watt that in the latter stages of his career, Watson didn’t have much else.

To me, this will be like Stafford leaving Detroit……without the SB win in the first year.

Thanks a lot for raining on my parade

Except Stafford didn't miss a year and what should be at least another 6 games on top of it. Stafford was an underrated pure passer. Some of Watson's game is those wheels. Which might not quite be the same with that amount of time off.

Then you add to it that the Rams have simply a better coaching staff. They didn't break the bank on Stafford so they could continue to add to their talented roster and did. Clowns decided not only handcuff thier draft capability moving forward but their free agency ability as well.

I don't think the outcome will be as good as some think. Even if Watson manages to completely come back to form. And that is a considerable IF.

These are all valid points, and there’s much unknown at this point.
I’m merely basing my opinion/concern based off the tape of him playing when he did play.
I never thought Stafford = Montana, but watching tape, you could see that if he had even a respectable supporting cast, he could be a good field general. And just like Stafford having Megatron, even that dynamic duo couldn’t win with the rest of the team they had. They put up great numbers, but no good team to speak of that can win.
I think current Browns are a far better TEAM than anything Watson has had in Houston. I think when he plays, he’ll be motivated.

But by your logic how come Trubisky doesn't get the same pass. I mean the Bears weren't exactly the gold standard of franchises when he was there. He had them to a ****** missed field goal from a playoff win.

1. Their defense can be had.
2. They might be good for a couple years but won't get past the Bengals. Maybe not past the Steelers or Ravens either.
3. The 250m guarenteed will catch up to them as will no 1sts for the next three years.

Stafford went to a team that was all in. They pretty much had everything. And he was good which is all he had to be.

Heaven forbid that time off doesn't bring injury as well. Not like he is one of the bigger QBs so better hope the one big egg in the basket doesn't crack.

I’m not giving Watson nor Trubisky as “pass”.
And I’ve already written in several other posts about being excited that we got Trubisky.
I think of ALL the options that were available, including Rudolph and Haskins, Trubisky was best. I think putting Trubisky on a team like ours is going to do wonders for him and showcase his true abilities.

I agree and I happen to think Watson's situation on the other hand will be a disaster and would put even money on it.

I might agree if this was pre 2019 Clowns.
And there will be some adjustment period due to learning new scheme, new teammates/chemistry, and possible suspension.
But once that’s ALL done, and before the cap crunch cripples the Clowns, I think they have most of the pieces in place to be formidable.
Again, I wouldn’t want Watson for what the Clowns gave him. That was a fleecing.
But if you say to me we could have either Watson or Trubisky, not giving up draft capital, and paying somewhere between Mitch’s modest contract and Watson’s insane contract?
I’d want Watson every time. Just based on talent and what we’ve seen.

Sorry there SIR.

A lot of your post(s) make perfect sense but I couldn't be on board with Watson until his leagal is more defined. Just to much / many allegations (soon to be hushed by pay-offs) but also have read that at least one lady doesn't want the money as she wants him to be held accountable. I think some others have joined in and I think there is a Lawer lady working pro-bono to get justice.

He is in a long haul of leagal and for not a good reason.

I get it. I do. And I understand the hesitation.
However, there will be NO criminal charges. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
In civil proceedings, he can only be held financially liable. And I’ve heard him say he’s not cutting checks. This could change obviously with the retard funds the Clowns just handed him.
But the only time he’s missing will be from Rog.

Watson hasn't played in a year that has to be factored in. Handcuffing their cap has to be factored in. They will have a hard time building in the draft because they gave up three 1st rounders. So it isn't all honey and roses for them.
He's still got to serve a league suspension as well.

Which is another good topic.

How long should he see off?

Should be no less than 6 games right?

Well, the Browns must feel it's going to be significant. They've already started their massaging .. errr, messaging campaign. smh
The talent is undeniable. However, having to do **** like this is exactly why I didn't want the Steelers going after him. And that's just the beginning. Wait until min-camp and camp.

The sun is starting to come out...!

They talk about Picketts hands but I watch the way this guy carries the ball around in the pocket and I think he will be a fumble machine in this division.

This division has always thrown haymakers and Watson will find that out. WATT is contagious as Highsmith has shown vast improvement for how young he is. All of our defense knows how to get after the QB and I hope they keep improveing both in sack number and fumbles. Watson doesn't scare the STEELERS "D", we face better and even a QB that's a RB so legs aren't going to be the almighty killer.

We will have to game plan and stratagize for him but it is doable. He has talent but he also has a lot on his shoulders of proof.

EDIT: I'd say Trebiskey puts up near the same numbers.
