Benny snail won’t make the team

You missed mine. I'm rather good at calling out bad Steeler draft picks, I see your new. A summary for you. I hated the following picks: Sweed, Hood, Jones, Archer, Mendenall, and Archer just to name a few. Well Mendy wasn't all that bad, but he likely cost us a super bowl with that fumble.

Now for my point, the worst thing to do is bump my post if you can't stand them, because I might reply,. I'm generally too busy not the weekdays for back and forth stuff.

And while I'm at it I didn't like the Chucks pick either. How he's doing right now? :) I do say plenty of positive things on rookie draft picks. I liked the Buggs pick a lot.

the worst thing any of us can do is actually read the bullshit you spew.

WTF ?? Kevin hangs in for over half the thread, then vanishes ? You drunk Berm ??

i like the old school mentality but i think those days are gone.
there are 31 other teams in the league and im not sure i can recall any one of them bringing in a 3rd string, rookie rb to seal off a game.
i think there is a better chance that they drafted him for depth, development and a potential replacement for conner if he gets hurt or produces so well that he demands big money the next year or 2i too dont see him getting cut for the above reasons PLUS he hasnt been given a fair shot PLUS he was a 4th round pick(dont want to admit you were wrong)

I didn't mean they drafted him to be a closer this year as a rookie. I would hope they didn't draft anyone just for what they can do as a rookie. He's a closer. That is what he is best suited for. He's a power runner with a few moves. I don't see him as a Conner replacement.

Is he still on this board and what name does he use as an identity ? Not sure if you answered my question from the other day. What year did you play on the Screaming Eagles ?

I think I have seen Buff (same username) floating around in a thread a little while back...

That would have been about 79.

A couple years later I scored the first TD for the Ghosts in 3 years
....lol.

Snell looked like a slug last night. He has no burst and goes down too easily.

I'll admit we saw very little out of Snell thus far. I was expecting more, much more, based on what he did at Kentucky. He seems like he's a year away, needs to lose weight and get in NFL football shape.

Is his draft slot high enough to cut him some slack and wins him more time? Are they maybe considering stashing him on PS due to his lack of tape in the pre-season?

Here's what I think gets Snell on the 53. They simply don't have anyone better for that 3rd RB spot. Sure we saw a little flash here and there from the other guys, but overall none of them looked any better. Maybe they're able to pick up a serviceable back who gets cut... we'll see.

If Snell does end up on the roster, he better work his *** off every opportunity he has, in case he's needed at some point this season. He did flash on ST early, so he has that going for him.

edit - I will add, for whatever it's worth, we've never seen Snell run behind our starting O-line. It seems he's hardly had any holes to hit behind these rag-tag 2nd & 3rd string lines. Not making excuses for him, he's shown very little as a runner be it his feet, eluding tacklers, etc.

Snell has made a few plays on special teams, isn't afraid to block, and has made some catches out of the backfield.

Last night he (and Edmunds) were being hit in the backfield before they could even get going. Would've liked to see him get some carries behind the #1 OL, but he's probably going to contribute on special teams more than offense anyways, and I think he showed enough there, along with being a draft pick to make the team.

twice last night Snell looked to b e able to pick up a good yardage and was easily taken down. There seems to be no place for him on this team.

If he only ever picks up 2ypc and does it on 3rd and 2 or 4th and 2, i'm good with his performance.

I loved the draft pick but I'm a bit disappointed in how easily he goes down and how horrible he is at reading his blocks (when he has any). Still it's pre-season and this season doesn't ride or fall on Snell. I still think he'll be a decent power back but he needs to get stronger, faster or more agile.

Conner and Samuels both came in for year 2 leaner and stronger, which made them better backs. Granted, Samuels has the smaller sample size as he's in year 2, but that's been the hype surrounding him in camp, him making a year 2 transformation similar to Conner. Snell's year 2 will be the more telling one if he does or doesn't follow suit than this one.

Steelers are so thin at RB after Samuels.....I don't see Snell not making the team. He's not an NFL caliber RB IMO....I've watched all 4 pre-season games and I just don't see anything I like about his ability to play at an NFL level. They say he needs to loose weight....I'm not sure I agree he's about 225lbs......but I guess trainers & coaches want to see him lighter. He goes down from contact way too easy!

Note this thread was started before training camp. Also Edwards > Snell.

Unless someone cuts someone better Snell makes the team. He is what I thought he was. Grinder, pounder, between the tackles back. We reached on him for sure but he can block decent and actually has better hands than I thought he would.

Absolutely. Tombert does that all the time to give a player a chance so it doesn't look like they ****** up another draft pick.

Can we see the kid run behind a offensive line before he is cut. Snell and edmounds both were hit behind the line on basically every carry. Also he has been fighting a groin pull which isn’t going lend to speed and cutting. Give him a year to get in pro football shape. He was productive against top tier teams in the sec without a qb. Also he is a great presence in the locker room. This team could use more high quality team first guys as opposed to what we had.
