Benny snail won’t make the team

Connor, Samuels, Snell, Nix, Edmunds. I'm good with that.

Can we see the kid run behind a offensive line before he is cut. Snell and edmounds both were hit behind the line on basically every carry. Also he has been fighting a groin pull which isn’t going lend to speed and cutting. Give him a year to get in pro football shape. He was productive against top tier teams in the sec without a qb. Also he is a great presence in the locker room. This team could use more high quality team first guys as opposed to what we had.

Exactly, nice post man. The best anecdote will always be Troy's rookie season, how lost and generally terrible he looked out there. The fact we're drawing conclusions on Snell after a few pre-season games is off-the-charts ridiculous. It's the nature of the beast for Steelers fans, but still.

That's just it, we don't see them on a DAILY basis where as the coaches do. Obviously their judgement, which is like our, isn't perfect either. I'll take patience and actual in season play as a measuring stick anyway as to compared to a few snaps with lower quality back ups, any day.

SNELL will be A-ok and happy he makes the 53.!

Benny snail won’t make the team I just can’t see it. Told you guys he was too slow for the NFL.

How did he makes this team

He wasn't the slowest guy running from the hungry bear.

Seriously, I had hoped to see more of him on tape to see his full skill set. I saw him make a few blocks and in on some ST play, but as a runner, not so much. He seems more FB than TB in the very limited set of plays I saw him.

Tombert 1) generally does not cut high draft picks their first year and 2) generally does not make mistakes when drafting offense.

Gotta roll with the OP here. Snell barely was able to beat 3rd and 4th stringers to the edge Thursday for a 1 yard gain. Give him a chance to earn a spot next year on the PS and lose some weight, but he's still here because of draft position, not because he deserves it over Edmunds. Dude's slow and fat.

Yeah he made it... I would have kept a sixth wr over him... used Dobbs as an emergency 4th RB in a crisis... but we will see... rookies are never a finished product coming out of camp

Edmunds was just a guy, they might as well keep Snell and see if he develops.

That's what they are doing.

Steelers are so thin at RB after Samuels.....I don't see Snell not making the team. He's not an NFL caliber RB IMO....I've watched all 4 pre-season games and I just don't see anything I like about his ability to play at an NFL level. They say he needs to loose weight....I'm not sure I agree he's about 225lbs......but I guess trainers & coaches want to see him lighter. He goes down from contact way too easy!

Most teams aren't 3/4 deep at RB. Though Edmunds will stick around on the PS. No one is picking him up, and he wants to hang with his brother. Players pick which practice squad they want to sign to (if they receive multiple offers), not the other way around. It's just like being a UDFA. Steelers know they have a PS lock on Edmunds, so they're using it. I'm fine with him being called up to start in a pinch if we have injuries to Conner and JaySam

Snail showed absolutely nothing in pre season and is on the team. Maybe this kind of **** is why we haven’t won anything in awhile. You know I’m right.

EVeRY position can't be a superstar all pro. No one here has seen any of these guys on a day to day basis. I think overall this team is pretty solid and better talented than last year's team. I don't defend the coaching much but I'm pretty sure they know a hell of a lot more about the make up and talent than MOST here. Like Cope said, Edmunds will be on our PS and that is by design. A gambled risk with a few other players but every team is in the same situation including the CHEATRIOTS troll's team. Somehow Spencer never made it while Eli got cut but hopefully PS, Holton too.

Seems like they reached with Snell, Layne, and Gentry just because they were draft picks this year.

Who would you have kept instead of them?

Rather they kept Spencer and Holton over 2 of the 3 I mentioned above..

Take your chances and practice squad them, as opposed to Spencer and Holton, who showed big play ability on offense and special teams.

Holton I wish they held onto. As Cope has been saying a roster move via IR might be coming and either Holton or Spencer brought back. If they do I hope it is Holton. Spencer I don't think to add much to the team or rather enough.

No need for 7 receivers. If they feel guys like Snell, Layne, and Gentry all have higher upsides than Spencer and Holton, they're worth keeping on the roster, even if it's a redshirt year.

Snell ran an unofficial time of 4.65 seconds

James Conner was the only top-20 rusher last season who ran a 4.65 or worse at the combine.

Is Connors 4.65 faster than Snells ?

Nice thread, too bad I missed it
