Benny snail won’t make the team

I’ll be honest... after the preseason he had I would have kept spenser and skipper over him and tried to get him on the practice squad, but the kid looks fine now... rookies take time to acclimate, sometimes years before they really get the scheme and nfl speed down and the game slows down for them... we have guys here who want to scream bust before they ever play a down...

Right now, this Sunday, he will be on the field of play and representing our beloved STEELERS.

Who the **** brought up a 27year old thread........ ? Was it some "**** STARTER"

this year all the predictions that we made probably sucked. I know mine did.

I predict most of mine as well.

Although I predicted 12-4 our 11-5 finish isn't to far off

But. But. But "Snail" was such a clever dig at him using his own name. Every time I see him on the field now I think of this try-hard post and how it probably wouldn't even exist if his name was Smith or Johnson or Jones or something like that.

The original post is a perfect illustration on why you should not judge a player until after he has taken a few snaps, or better still until after 2-3 seasons. I liked Snell when he was drafted and like him more now. Old school smash-mouth back, goes perfect with the current defense.

As a believer in the old football adage that "Speed Kills", I'll admit to being less than enthused (and vocally so) about the Steelers drafting Benny Snell. Especially after his lackluster preseason. He's a hard runner though and has come through lately when the team has needed him. I still believe he has a pretty limited ceiling but as long as he keeps pounding the line and racking up yards and the Steelers keep winning I'm all for seeing more "Benny Snell Football".

A-N-D those who use "SNAIL" as his name are being very disrespectful, both back then and now. I ripped a ******* troll's head off and took a crap down his throat in this defense of respect.

BENNY is a nice look at what this franchise use to be and what it can be linked to currently. He is not the future but he is the one player to keep on the roster to help with our STZEELERS image. As long as he is productive keep him or the next guy up.

Screw speed. Give me bowl over defenders power. How fast was Bettis?

I loved him after watching the college highlights of him. I didnt know if the Steelers would give him a decent shot though. It took a serious injury to Connor for them to do so.

Unless someone cuts someone better Snell makes the team. He is what I thought he was. Grinder, pounder, between the tackles back. We reached on him for sure but he can block decent and actually has better hands than I thought he would.

Still stands true. Doesn’t have the burst to turn the corner well, but between the tackles and going north and south he’s good. He’s been exceptional in pass pro. I do wish they’d throw to him a little because in preseason he was Bell-esk catching and running routes.

kid reminds of a mix of Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell straight smash mouth hard to bring after contact power backs.

Durring the Bus' prime the put out a survey I read that had three answers and you were to pick the one you LEAST wanted to do.

1) Bull Ride in a rodeo

2) Face a Randy Johnson fast ball

3) Tackle Jerome Bettis head on

It was like 93% QUESTION #3

Bus always ran downhill. That's how you be great.

I always loved that The Bus was an avid bowler. Because I used to visualize him being the bowling ball and anybody that got in his way, the poor pins. It was a good fit.

I wish I would've been there at Heinz for the Chicago game when he trucked Urlacher (got into Pittsburgh a week or so after), but I did get to see his last home game at Heinz vs. The Lions when Randle El took a KR/PR to the house. The place was rocking but the mood at the end was bitter-sweet.
