Benny snail won’t make the team

Sorry to get off-topic, I like me some Benny Snell. Hope they utilize him in the screen/passing game a little more.

Bus always ran downhill. That's how you be great.

He was the best. Loved how he'd just bowl over defenders, and after getting tackled, jump up and do that hop around. Guarantee the older timers like me recreated that hop many times while watching the games. :). Family and friends looking on and wondering if its time to make that call to the looney bin for a pickup. :)

Durring the Bus' prime the put out a survey I read that had three answers and you were to pick the one you LEAST wanted to do.

1) Bull Ride in a rodeo

2) Face a Randy Johnson fast ball

3) Tackle Jerome Bettis head on

It was like 93% QUESTION #3

Over the course of his career I can't imagine how many yards he gained by falling forward. You never saw him tackled backwards. That's the difference of running down hill and NOT.

He was awesome and yes also a pretty nice guy as well. It's been a long time ago but I was at a PITTSBURGH game and the Jerome Bettis BUS pulled into a parking lot close to stadium or stadium parking. It was so kewl as they had multiple big screens and you could watch the game there (if you didn't go in). The real kewl thing was it was free BBQ food and non-alcohol drinks. Does anyone Remeber this or am I just remembering it wrong.......?

He truly was a STEELERS through and through. I'm thankful for my time being able to watch him throughout his STEELERS career.

Prime time games were tough at my house. The kids were young and often in bed when the Bus would break one. I couldnt refrain from bunny hopping around the house yelling "The Bus!! The Bus!!!! THE BUS!!!" More often than not. was going to wake someone.

Snell has that determined, power, stealth, elusiveness that you've just got to love. Im so glad coach isnt making Steeler personnel decisions.

It might have been a different survey but I remember one where the question was "The most difficult feat in pro sports", where they surveyed pro athletes. Tackling Jerome Bettis was voted #1.

Yeah I remember the Randy Johnson poll one... people forget tgat tge reason Bus and Hines absolutely deserve to be in the hall is that they did what they did with Kordell and Maddox and every other bum they trotted out there before ben... everyone knew what was coming and they still couldn’t stop him...

I'm a Cowher guy. Always liked the Chin. But one area I always believed he **** the bed was in regards to Bettis. '97, '01', '02, '04 if he hadn't run the Bus like he did. If he would have left something in the tank, it would have been different. Cause he was always gang busters during the middle part of the season and he just got the **** beat out of him by the end. I don't care if the pats knew what was coming. If it was a fresh Bettis he was gonna ****** steam roll you anyhow.

The Bus was arguably the best big back that ever played. Earl Campbell was considered a big back but the Bus went 250+ on a good day and may have played closer to 270 at times. And, he had the quickest feet of any back even close to his size. I still love that shot of him in the snow against the Bears. That was the Bus and he was a true Steeler. One of my favorite all time.

On the other hand if he would have ran him one more time things might be different.
I’m talking bout ‘97 Championship game Bus was tearing it up and he calls a pass on 2nd and goal I believe and Korky throws a pick
Run there for TD and who knows!

Yep his notorious quick feet. That is often overlooked with fans thinking about his bruising physical style of play.
We like to think of Bussy running over people but the truth is he was just as good at making people miss.

I would have been fine with 40 runs in those games. I think it would have been worth it to have a second or third seed for the ability to have Bettis fresh in those ones. You have a defense and a run game you can travel.

They need to stop giving the ball to Jalen Samuels as a running back

Snell had about 70 touches when he fumbled... thats not great but fairly typical for a young player... I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions... players are going to fumble on 1 to 1.5 percent of touches...

Yeah, and the tackle was pretty good. The guy put his helmet right on the ball, **** happens sometimes. Even happened to the Bus in a much bigger game.

Some people just cannot shake their bias for a player for whatever reason.

Our OC needs to be less predictable. When there is 8+ in the box, it is hard for anyone currently on the roster, to RUN. Benny is NOT gaining his yards by running around the end and up the GUT consistantly the D knows what's coming. Why can't we get a little more unpredictable and why not very many 2RB sets w/motion??? What happened to TEs and catching????

The "O" did a great job even though they wore handcuffs.

Whyte needs to be on the field a lot more. He has the vision and speed and also runs forward.
