BIG UGLIES, BIG UGLIES, BIG UGLIES!!!!!!

We need them on both sides of the ball. Our top 2 needs. Nothing else matters at this point. Start there and work your way out.
These team needs upgrades in the trenches and are short a WR and CB.

Both NTs suck *** the left side of the Oline needs to move Moore inside and bring in a better LT or draft one.

Nothing changes until there are major coaching changes. I have said this for a decade now. This is a piss poor coaching staff and does not have the teaching capacity. Just look at the wonderful MT coaching tree the last 10 years or so.

Much more depth required. Except for a couple exceptions, the bums we have would be second/third stringers on average teams.

The Ravens reminded the Steelers the importance of winning in the trenches. You can win with less talent when you dominate up front. The Steelers built the wrong way for drafting a young QB and are still in catch up mode and will be for another year or two.

Don't matter who they draft or bring in via Free agency. This team will suck again next year. It will be week 8 before they even show any signs of life. They might as well drink beer and eat pizza all off season. You won't be able to tell the difference..

That may be generous.

If the Steelers get a top 10 pick…anything less than Skoronski, Paris Johnson or Broderick Jones will be a huge L

I don’t care about a CB. Left tackle is an absolute must take selection. The also need the top remaining guard or center with either of their early round 2 picks.

I would be ecstatic with a LT/NT combination. But I wouldn't say I don't care about corner without a true number 1 being on the roster. Plus if you get a LT chances are you solve the G situation in the process.

I think the first four pick unless free agency sticks it's nose in should be some combination of LT/NT/CB and WR.

As I said in the mock draft thread, the Steelers aren't drafting a cornerback high if they re-sign Sutton AND keep Witherspoon and Wallace. A true No. 1 would be huge, though. Watching what the Ravens and 49ers can do weekly with average QB play just shows how a good offensive line can elevate a team. We sort of see the same with the Titans as well.

As has been and will be forever, it all starts and ends up front. The lines are the bedrock of a good team. Everything else is window dressing.

I'm backing off a little at oline. You need a left Tackle for sure and honestly you would have pretty good depth there with Moore who has a lot of snaps. I can't tell if the interior is good enough. Frankly, I'm not sure about Najee anymore and they don't give terrible pressure up the Middle. You might be able to Go LT, ILB, DT and not take two olineman. They continue to play 10 against the run with Bush on the field. Spillane is a backup sp. Teamer and Bush's position should be Left Out.

Absolutely agree on left tackle. Chuks has had a steep fall from his terrific play early in the season. The interior is meh. They don't have a big people mover or an athletic guy who can pull. The Steelers have always had at least one stud on the inside of the line and they don't have any right now.

Not sure why they would retain Witherspoon at this point I would prefer the cut ties and look for an upgrade free agent sign. Even if Sutton signs that leaves the team one corner short.

I agree about the Oline upgrade I will expand it to a trenches upgrade as it looks like the D needs one too.

True but they need the top stud bodies as well. We haven't picked high on either line in years. The top guys on D are gone in a year or two max (Heyward) and the OL is either very young and not very good or here on a 1 or 2 year contract. As you said, our coaches aren't good enough to coach up later-round picks. We need big uglies from round 1 and 2 that already mostly know what they are doing.

They absolutely need top DL help - especially in the middle. That has been shown time and time and time again last year and yesterday once again. We can't stop the run even when we know it's coming. We are playing with a bunch of backups on the line other than Heyward.

Agree 100%. Then again, you and I have been saying this since the 2020 draft. Apparently, the only two people on earth who thought the Steelers did not need a huge upgrade on the OL were Kevin Colbert and Mike Tomlin.

Here's where you and I differ. The team needs, in order, as I see it are:
  • LT
  • CB
  • DT (run stopper)
  • ILB
  • WR
  • C
The problem with the 2023 draft is the very thin talent at CB and as far as I can tell, it has no elite LT. Skoronski may be the best but he is probably no better than the 15th player in this draft. Thank God for the Claypool trade. 3 of the top 40 picks means the team can get LT, CB and DT right away.

If the Steelers go LT, then they have to go CB at 33. If they go CB first, then they have to go LT. Sorry but ignoring these absolutely crucial positions for five .,.. six? seven?? drafts in a row has forced this situation.

The habit of trading away 5th round picks is going to come home to roost unfortunately.

Could be way longer when you consider the Coaching past to draft weapons, not “big Uglies”.

I agree slash but if that OC is there 2nd or 3rd, you take him.

I may be in the minority, but I like Dan Moore. The kid has hung in there, with very little help from the offensive play calling and the like. There is certainly a consensus here on how bad the OC is. Can the players on offense be accurately judged due to the lousy coaching?

I know the numbers are the same, but Moore reminds me a bit of John Jackson. It took Jackson some time to settle in, but then he became a pretty damn good LT. Jackson's career took off when they brought in Cowher and an OC (Earhardt) who knew what the hell he was doing. Perhaps the same can happen for Moore.
