Broderick Jones is being traded to the Cowboys

Been saying it for years now, draft picks especially premium picks are a crap shoot. Sometimes you hit on them other times you just don’t.
What was once a staple for this franchise recognizing top talent in the early rounds and developing those players has vanished.
Broderick Jones was a raw talent with loads of potential coming from Georgia with not a lot of playing experience. They moved up to take him thinking they could tap into that potential but were unable to develop him. Have to put that on the scouts, Omar Kahn, Tomlin, and Pat Meyer.
I absolutely hate using my premium picks on potential and developmental players. I’d much prefer selecting a player with a solid track record.
Again, it’s not an exact science and you just don’t know.
The Steelers realized they had to move on from Broderick and give him another opportunity and try and recoup whatever they could for him.
I’m more concerned with the drafting process and player evaluation in recent years. These first and second round players simply have to develop and be the cornerstones of your roster.
We cannot continue to draft poorly with these premium picks.
I’m holding out hope for the last three first round picks from 23 to 26. We need these to be home runs.
Also if you remember, Jones played LT in college but Shades moved him to RT where the footwork is completely different, so as not to hurt LT Dan Moore in the feels, the same Dan Moore who wasn't good enough to switch to RT. Last year someone was dumb enough to pay Moore big FA money so Jones went back to LT and was playing decent, not exceptional, until he got hurt. But then you're asking him to go back to a position he hadn't played in two years.

Mike T ****** us big time!!!!!!! No way around that. No way to sugar coat it. The facts are the facts. **** you Mike T!!!! You sucked royally!!!!!

I wonder if Rooney pushed Mike T out or if Mike T knew he simply couldn't build a winner so he bailed as a loser. Either way Mike T knew/knows that he failed. Maybe one day we will know. Either way I never thought the day would come where Mike T wasn't our HC(during my life time).....and I am 56.

Jones still needs time to heal and put weight back on. He's not playable now. Steelers don't have a spot for him so it's good to get something for him. Getting a 3rd is big for next year's draft where they may want to move up for a QB.
It is also the MAX return we could have possibly received for him in the FA compensation formula when he hits the market next year. There was no way that would have happened, IF he had made the team, he is a bench player, bench players typically do not garner contracts that would warrant 3rd round compensation.
