Bud Dupree Gets Brady

Not siding...just saying Harrison wasn't in the game as much as others...Love Harrison. Hope his demeaner and work ethic rubs off on some of these youngin's

Hope Porter is teaching them to hit and wrap up. Hope he's teaching them something...

Actually Harrison led the OLBs in snaps

Was Harrison a number 1 draft pick moron? Is Jones better than any other OLB on the team> 4 tacjles is 4 times as many as Jones had so it is a big deal. Brady was sacked 2 times in 34 drop backs a very high percentage so there was opportunity for Jarvis to try and make a sack something it is obvious in 3 years he has no ability to make.

Where they were picked or not picked is irrelevant. You have made the comparison to Harrison, so now that you have, you can't all of the sudden not want to make the comparison. Tackles is alos not what we were discussing. It was pressure on the QB. None of them did it with any consistency. I think you would see more consistency if they had better DBs who could influence a pass pattern.

Let's put it this way. Let's say you run a 40 in 4.5 seconds with no interference. You run it again, but I get in your way on the way to the finish line and make you go off course slightly. It is a good bet your time will not be 4.5 seconds. Now, if I can get DBs who can do this on a pass route it may cause the QB to delay his pass just a little. It is a game of split seconds. Maybe the pass rush can now have an impact. But as of right now, QBs are getting the snap and just getting rid of the ball. You have to see this if you watch the games. Hell, when the QBs are in the shotgun or pistol against the Steelers they get the snap, turn and throw. What pass rush ever invented can get to the QB in those situations? It is routine against the Steeler defense.

pretty sure on of our excellent moderators told you to lay off the lame name calling. if you can not win your argument on facts, the just let it go....or come up with good ******* insults like supe and I used to do before we got old.....

Look Brady has one of the fastest releases in all of football (second to Manning). In this game, he averaged 2 SECONDS to get rid of the ball. He was sacked by an unblocked rookie on one of the few he held for over 2 seconds. We NEEDED to play press on at least ONE receiver on each side of the field (keep the other defender back to avoid the pick/rub play). We didn't. NOBODY will get to a QB in under 2 seconds!

Unfortunately, we have drafted and employed smallish CBs who are NOT adept to press coverage. They could try (as Blake did w Edelman...fail) but could also get knocked down or allow too much separation which results in a big gain. The "plan" has been to let them catch underneath all day long hoping they make an error that we can capitalize on...didn't happen. Rarely does it happen w Brady in NE.

Whew. 4 tackles. 4 whole tackles. You made your point. Did he have any sacks? Even pressures? I watched the game, and I didn't see much out of any of them. Because if your argument is to have any validity, Harrison should have had pressures and sacks all night.

Now, if the Steelers had a few DBs that could have stuck with Edelmann and maybe Gronk is it fair to say they may have gotten more pressure?

Again, you avoided another question. What were Harrison's stats at the same time of his career?

You seem to be really emotional over my argument that pressure and coverage go hand in hand. Therefore, are you taking the position they don't? Pressure has nothing to do with coverage? They can play with 3 DL and 4 LBs and no DBs, if the LBs are al Harrisons?
At 25!yrs old Harrison had 1 year in the league where he played 45 tackles and 1 sack compared to jones 2 seasons and a few games at 25, 59 tackles and 3 sacks. One was undrafted and the other was a 1st round pick. Yeah I know you don't think that matters the fact you want to compare jones to Harrison's shows you're a straight up clown. Keep defending jones but don't go in a hole when he's cut this offseason. Yeah I know it's the dbs fault he will be cut

I didn't make the comparison. He did. When it benefits you, you guys are OK with the comparison. When it doesn't. then we don't want to compare.

You guys hate Jones so much it clouds everything. It's amazing. I won't go into a hole. I have said numerous times that when the pick was made, I did not like it. All I have been saying is that to get a true read on Jarvis Jones I think you need better play on the back end. I believe pressure and coverage go hand in hand. However, the hatred of Jones with some clouds even common sense.

Actually it's Colbert, Tomlin, Timmons, Jones, Archer. But if it makes people happy so be it.

A lifelong Steeler Fan, I am upset with the new Defensive Coordinator. I thought Dick Lebeau had lost touch, but same old, same old. What happened to Blitzsburg. Rex Ryan rushed 7 men against Andrew Luck and destroyed the Colts. You CANNOT cover recievers consistently. You must get to the Quarterback and running backs to win ball games.

What's funny is that the Steelers Depot guy - who has probably re-watched the game tape 4 times by now - said McClendon was probably the best player on defense last night. Maybe he will put up some clips to substantiate that claim --- would be interesting to see.

A couple follow-up stats (comes from Steelers Depot):

With McClendon on field: Pats averaged 0.82 yards per carry
With McCullers on field: Pats averaged 4.33 yards per carry

Nice find AL I wonder what the breakdown was for runs vs passes while McCullers was in.
