Calvin Austin III....???

He’s been cleared for practice three weeks ago. If he was still hurt I would think they wouldn’t have taken him off IR to begin with.
Tomlin made the comment that he missed preseason.
So what!

He was cleared for practice 3 weeks ago. I read somewhere (maybe DK) last week that he hadn't been on the practice field recently. Maybe a setback?

or maybe he is really hurt?
I am taking it he just wasn't healthy. Not that they don't have plenty of other issues. I am thinking not activating a healthy WR isn't getting added to that.

At this point I'd assume he isn't healthy as well. If he was, you build for the future and see what you have in Austin. It's not like the bottom of the roster guys are anything special.

We the FAN never seem to get the information straight up. We have to filter / decipher / wait, to actually find any thing of substance out. I'm OK with that but hope it comes out that it's justified to hold him out. I'd dislike it very much if Coach Tomlin held him out because O'Canada actually couldn't figure out how to get him loaded on the moving train.......................

That shouldn't stop him from being activated from IR. Canada has a whole starting WR corps that he can't figure out how to get them loaded on a moving train. What's one more?

😁

Idk guys, I’ve seen where Austin has been at practice and never a mention of reagrivating
his injured foot unless I missed it.
Not trying to be the conspiracy theorist here but something doesn’t seem right.
Tomlin’s comments at his presser on Tuesday saying that Cal has not been in a game in a stadium yet, that he didn’t play in any of the three pre season games, and that it wasn’t a priority of his kind of left me with the feeling Tomlin feels he’s not ready.
Not that he’s hurt but just not ready.
Tomlin has yet to come out and say that he aggravated his injured foot.
I ask the question, could he not be used on some go routes? If anything at least as a decoy to have to be accounted for?

At least it was a good reason and not coaches stubbornness/stupidity
The bar isn't high for rookies to start here (Kendrick Green) or see playing time despite being raw. I would've been very concerned if Austin was healthy and not getting on the field due to performance. Almost certainly would've meant he wasn't going to stick on a roster anywhere. Too bad, I was looking forward to seeing him play this season.

Sad for him being IR'd but happy that he won't be experiencing the O'Canada effect!

Much to do....about nothing..

Austin is not a priority to get on the field this season....and is not the savior of this or any season.

Let’s just hope CA3 doesn’t turn out like Senquez Golson…in the future every time the brain trust wants to draft a midget I suggest they are instead forced to take a 300+ lb LOS player:

We seem to like drafting very diminutive players that never seem to have an impact “inside of stadiums” and “things of that nature” it is a very “rhythmatic” approach we take in our draft process taking speedy midgets instead of big beasts

I was a bit mixed on the drafting of CA3. I could see why we drafted him, as he is explosive with the ball in his hands, is a good route runner and has great hands. However, I also thought we had that same guy on roster as it is - Anthony Miller. CA3 is a great competitor and all, but I believe the staff wanted to show they could still find diamonds in the rough at WR late in the draft.

Yet, while I see why we drafted him, I was hoping we'd have taken a guy he played against ... Tariq Woolen ... instead.

< puts on Cooch hat and pats self on back >
6'4" 210lb CB who's started all 7 games for the Seachickens and has 4 INTs too
< / takes off Cooch hat>

yet we can't go back and make changes.
